difficult comparison outdoors with onyx ac mode and motion boom without any improvement through plug in mode. A bit unfair but overall the onyx Studio 7 won. However, I would only get Bluetooth speakers to listen to music outside and switch on my Pioneer system inside. So to me the Studio 7 would be a waste and seem unnecessary bro
Thanks man! I need a home speaker for music, movies and occasional parties. I bought Harman Kardon seems like best option, especially when it will sit at home at all time.

I got the studio 7 $99 renewed, sounds amazing plugged in (really should be a tabletop speaker tbh given that wack battery) but sound is great plugged, I took the grill off and the treble is much more sparkly (sounded almost a little boxy with the grill on tbh)
Personally it's hard to choose between both... Each one have qualities and weaknesses. Onyx Studio 7 plays way deeper, the bass is controlled, it have a decent upper bass. But despite the two tweeters it's very much a mono speaker, the bass is slow (it lacks responsiveness). It lacks too much mid bass, lacks volume in the 30W DC mode, the treble have some issues I can't put words on... And that battery is pure garbage. Motion Boom is stereo, is louder, have better mids and highs (due to not being as bass heavy), it have pretty good deep bass. It also have great battery life. The bass is quite fast and responsive. And of course, a great EQ with real headroom. But there's too much mid bass, upper bass is lacking and the bass lacks control (if you push upper bass too much in the EQ you hear the lack of control even more). It lacks an aux port. Hard to chose. I got both 😝
The Studio 7 is stereo but the woffer is mono but I think they should update the go + play with a big battery. The Motion Boom is damn right a good deal lol you made videos already abot them😂
@@TheAscendedTechNinja One woofer considerably trap the sound, it's bass that give dimensionality to the tracks. I guess we'll never get HK products with a good battery...

I just got the HK onyx studio 7 and I like It so far but I’m looking for one maybe a bit Lider but with more definition in the bass and less boomy and more emphasis in the mids and highs, I think the bass overwhelms the mids and highs in the HK, any recommendation?
I tried the Onyx Studio 7 and ended up returning it. I have been looking at the motion boom as an alternative, which led me to this video. I returned the Studio 7 because of some major distortion issues I was hearing. With the detail you are getting into in describing the low frequency reproduction I am surprised you didn't mention it - I had serious chuffing noises coming from the studio 7. It was so bad I exchanged it, assuming it was defective, and I was really shocked to hear it in the replacement. Maybe you can settle this for me? I can gladly say after testing in DC,AC modes at medium and maximum volumes. I only heard a little bit of distortion in that track besides the natural artifacts that is produced from the track itself. You had 2 defective units sadly. Lol I had to go through 7 defective speakers so far
@@TheAscendedTechNinja I really appreciate you checking that out so quickly. Can you describe the distortion you heard? On mine it sounded like air was rushing out of the top of the speaker. It was really not subtle, it was as loud as any other instrument on the track... I really wanted to love the speaker but it's going to take a lot to get me to walk into best buy to try a third 😖
Np I try to reply to every comment as fast as I can or I'll just like it but basically in DC in that track just started to have a little trouble keeping the vocals balanced with the bass and AC Mode it just amplified that plus I hear a little power surge from the amp but there are passive raditors at the top front and back your units may have not been sealed properly if it sounds like it's farting

How please xD? The motion boom is stronger in the upper bass and has ein against the Studio 7 there? there was nothing to be heard of against the sony SRS-XG500, since the sony reproduces the true upper bass. Still Jack of all trades for me, even in the deep bass range with good poweramp/Dolby EQ.
In person the Studio 7 doesn't have upper bass in general I tuned the Motion Boom to not really have upper bass and focus on deep bass so that's why it doesn't sound that apparent. And how come you changed your name again 😅 but your new a soda can😭

I hope the Onyx Studio 8 will be a big improvement. Harman Kardon is quite dissapointing, because they haven't imporved their speakers. Theys still have Bluetooth 4.2 and 8 hours battery life and now the Onyx Studio 7 isn't even water protected anymore. 😮💨 I hope they make Onyx Studio 8 a monster💪! Atleast IPX4, atleast Bluetooth 5.1 and more Bluetooth Codecs and 12 hour battery life. And slighlty bigger in size and bigger woofer for deeper bass. And i wish they also brought the app back like on Onyx Studio 4. They can also add Partyboost. (And bonus an EQ.) It is fun to play a JBL Xtreme 2 and Onyx Studio 4 together. Sad that Harman Kardon doesn't do this. If i was Harman Kardon CEO i would make Harman Kardons very very good. I would also make Harman Kardon Go+Play 2. 12 Hour battery life and etc. And also same 3 way system design as Boombox 3. I don't also understand why people hate the Boombox 3 design??? It is so good looking in my opinion.
The Studio 7 does have water proof parts btw. And the Studio 8 needs to be a big upgrade like you said and the Boombox 3 design wasn't appealing at first but over time I started to like the refresh and I plan on getting it when it comes out in the US
@@TheAscendedTechNinja i also want the Onyx Studio 8 to be mono. If you want stereo buy a second one. Two mono speakers in TWS are superior to one stereo speaker. I hope they make it with similar design as Citation 200. The woofer and tweeter are centered so the sound is more even than from Onyx Studio 6 for example.
Anker treble too bad, what microphone you're using. Not good for ear listening, I am the audiophiles tune as I can feel the bass at outdoor your phones.JBL is using harman .
Bro your EQ setting on the motion boom is whack, you weakened it by literally taking off all the bass. The signature mode with bass up would even sound better than what you did.
Just because it's available doesn't mean you have to use it. I was already talking about distortion with bass and you want me to increase it and sacrifice mid and highs? I'm good but take my sound test with a grain of salt because you may perfer something different

As far as left it on the signature mode yea idk what you're on. But I did make a separate EQ for lower volume levels and it does sound fuller but the results would have been pretty much the same
