Seems like the wrong people are working for DCS. Pulling them out of home to home is in itself harmful and the problem and not in the best interest of the child. So really DCS is to blame for this as well.
Sources have identified the judge as Mark Newman, who retired in August 2019, six months after he granted custody to Harmony's father, Adam Montgomery, who was living in New Hampshire at the time. Newman did not respond when asked about his custody decision in the case.

This story haunts me. I cannot imagine how a child goes missing for 2 years without someone taking notice and investigating it. I think the judge who gave Adam custody, the state & CPS workers should be held accountable. It sickens my heart.
HOW AND WHY was he able to have custody of her?! He’s done years in and out of prison or jail and suddenly he should be able to turn his life around without any mandatory classes, mandatory drug checks, CPS/social worker check-ins, proof of legitimate income? If nobody could take her she should’ve been in foster care until the mother was able to take custody.
You do know that Harmony was taken away from her very first time when Harmony was only 3 to 6 weeks old she was given many chances she was even given a chance to raise Harmony in a rehab house and she couldn't do that either

There are many fathers out there that have drug issues that don't do that type of BS to their children and I was one of them. I had a drug problem but I never once would do anything to hurt my children and would lose it if anyone did anything to my kids. I am not a addict anymore because once I had my first child I made a point to get clean and it did take a while but I went to work and did what I had to do to care for my son and daughter no matter what was going on they came first before anyone else including myself.

The courts should have left this child with the foster parent. A parent with drug issues yes that can be worked out. But absolutely not a known career criminal parent. The laws for these children need to be revamped They have been using the DCF and court laws for years and children for waaay to many years. It's not working for the children. Yes they should . No doubt about it . We have the same issues in Britain . BUT ,and I strongly believe this , OUR attitudes ,have changed . WE are blaming people for murder ,who have NOT killed . THIS ,very sadly ,is taking away from the REAL crime .Some .....pig of humanity , KILLED a little girl. We will hear he had this issue ,that issue and every issue under the sun , but lets focus our attention on the judge and social services. In this wee girls case ,she was BADLY let down by social services. But was THEIR negligence any worse than a family who , from what ive seen , are SO scared or in awe this trash , they really couldnt care less?

Thank you Vinnie. Her story is heartbreaking but needs to be heard. So many children get abused or murdered. We as a society need to do better for the kids. Watch out better for them.
That's what I was thinking. A lot of abused kids wet the bed. I think it's gross that ignorant, abusive, and disgusting parents beat their kids for having symptoms of abuse. He probably caused her bed wetting problems and killed her because of his lack of care and understanding. Poor baby girl.

The judge that gave custody to the evil father, needs to be exposed. What’s his name? This poor little girl lived in fear and everyone turned their backs. How can people be so evil to children. May she rest in peace.
That judge needs to be held accountable as well everyone needs to be held accountable for this. This shouldn't have ever happened to harmony or any other child in this world. Someone didn't do their job and this happened as a failure on the systems part as always. They always fail children. When is something going to be done about it is the real question ❓⁉️
Fairly new to the case so forgive the lack of knowledge but do we know the timeline? Like how much time was in between him getting custody to him murdering Harmony? I’m wondering if they did check ins and eventually closed the case meaning no more visits? It’s so sad to think all of this was because the courts are ignorant.
@leexxiann3782 I don't know the exact timeline but from what I understand at the beginning dad and stepmom were sober there were other children in the home they had a place to live and jobs or at least 1 of them had a job I think enough time passed for child protective services to not remain involved and then the drugs started and that was the beginning of the end don't quote me but I'm pretty sure that's how it went you
He was her father. It was established that the mother was definitely not fit for parenting at the time, so it’s almost an automatic that she’d go to her dad by default. He had a legal right to his daughter. Unless the judge was given evidence that he was also unfit for parenting, of course he was going to win custody. It’s very easy to criticize in hindsight but the biological father of a child should not have to jump through the same hoops that a foster parent or family member has to in order to have someone else’s child placed in their home.
@@trickortrump3292 when the judge granted that loser custody the court knew the father was a career criminal.. meaning he was a repeat offender.. and they still said "ok why not." You're right good fathers shouldn't have to jump through hoops to be with their kids. But he wasnt/ isn't a good father.

Ask cps and the judge why they gave sole custody to a career criminal. Ask those two entities, they're the ones responsible and never following up on how she is. They know for a fact the father is a violent and career criminal yet gave sole custody to him. WHY ??? These 2 entities are to be blamed. They're working just for a paycheck and their pension caring none with what happens for their decisions. It's been this way forever and nothing will ever change. It's designed to be like this.
The 2 parents are to blame firstly for putting her in that situation. I totally agree the system failed her 100% but Harmony was taken from the mother and placed in foster care 3 times. What I’d like to know is was there any family and if so where were they when this was happening? Seems everyone turned a blind eye 😢
How a judge approved custody to Adam with his arrest and drug history is beyond me. No CPS evaluations, no home visits, no UAs, no parenting classes, no anger management...NOTHING. Harmony was thriving in her foster home. I'm sure that her previous foster family would have taken her back.
My late husband and i were once briefly homeless with our kids many years ago and he never once hit any of them for anything and believe me if you think you kids can get on your nerves at home, in a car its x100, but we knew it was OUR fault
My kids frustrated me and my wife many times. But we never once struck them. I grew up where the belt was a normal thing. Can’t imagine being so upset to strike and harm a child. Parents need to take a time out, reset, etc.
Adults that have no control over themselves or their emotions resort to hitting as “discipline” because they’re so subpar as a parent they cant manage to speak to their child. My husband and I are anti spank with our kid’s simply because there is no benefit to doing so but proven side effects. Parents who hit their kids are weird and need to do some self reflection immediately. Any time i take my kids in public i’m always complimented on how polite and well behaved they are.

I've had a friend Rachel since childhood & her mom used to cry when she "had to spank her", she thought she was being a bad parent if she didn't. I think we're at a point where MOST parents know better, and most who still hit are doing it because they want to. But there needs to be a clear message to what you put very well, "no benefits but proven side effects". We've done the research to prove this, why hasn't that info reached everyone? Why isn't it taught in schools? That's an important lesson to teach the group of people who will have the next set of kids.

Don't blame the grandparents. Very often drug addicts lie to cover their tracks and do not comply with visitation requests. They lie and lie and lie. Blame must go to the judge from giving a career criminal drug addict sole custody.
I lived streets over from where this happened and my daughter knew them.Adam was a very violent person. They were drug addicts. All because of a judge in Massachusetts. This judge should never make any ruling on children ever again. I was driving by when they were taking out the refrigerator. This case was sad and horrific. His wife knew what he did and stayed with him and she got off. Both should have gotten the death sentence. It should be mandatory on all child murders. He hit that child so hard it killed her and he put her in several ceiling tops even in an all male shelter. His wife should never get her children back never!
When I was a kid in the 70’s a kid went missing in our town. No parent drug issues. Just vanished. Freaked me and all of us out as kids. Was always on our mind riding bikes, etc.
When will these CPS workers be held accountable and judges for allowing criminals/addicts to keep getting custody of these poor kids that loses their lives?!!!!!

Are you talking about step mom or bio mom. Biomom was in rehab to stop doing drugs. The stepmother was with the dad and did nothing to help this baby. She just as guilty as the fing killer father. R I P sweet baby girl.
Her bio mum was seeking help in getting clean, she trusted the system (didn't get a choice) to who her daughter went to. She was trying to better her life for her daughter. Yes she made mistakes, but she didn't MURDER her child. The judge is the one who handed Harmony over to the father, not her bio mum.

He really screwed up. Sounds like proper paperwork wasn't available for whatever reason. He's got blood on his hands.
Her mother tried to report her missing in 2019 after Adam cut off all contact. LE and child services refused to do ANYTHING for almost two years. There is documentation of this. Someone absolutely noticed; the people who could help just didn’t care. Let’s report the facts as facts.
I'm so mad ,I'd like 5 mi n with this clown ,I raised a daughter solo whom also had problems holding her bladder ,and I know the whole situation in dealing with such ,but under zero circumstances had he gotten right to put his hands on that poor child ,,system is at fault for even letting him custody,, Unreal !!!
Crystal was lookig for her the whole time. I remember long before reports came out, she was absolutely looking for her child. She was trying to get anyone to listen to her and NO ONE WOULD bc she didnt have custody and was in recovery and they silenced her. I read about this long before kayla told investigators anything. Its a shame they make it sound like she just didn't even look for her for 2years. Thst isn't true.
I was just stuck on this while delving into the case. I never followed it. I decided to watch Kayla's testimony and the prosecutor's opening statement ... I had no idea just how absolutely sickening this case was.

There are so many awesome people who can’t have children and would love to take a good care of her. Who is responsible for giving her to the father? That person is responsible as well.
During that two year time, was the pandemic. No one was paying attention. Even Child Services was not following up with families. Also the biggest thing her Boi Mom was in a rehab getting her self better to try and get her back. It was when she was out and trying to find them this all came to light.
They went to those apartments to score drugs. How do you remember what time your car broke down later but do not remember what you did just prior to that, after you watched a grown man beat a five year old girl to death?
This case makes me so ANGRY! No telling what his sentence will be considering it’s in Mass. Probably only “25yrs”. Let’s hope “prison justice” is done to Adam instead
Will this judge be held accountable? I've seen this happen several times in my own counseling practice with clients and abusive parents. There's just no excuse for this.

Right I feel like the mom is just as bad she should have got off the drugs sooner n took care of her child. What kind of mom doesn’t know about her kid for two years such bs. Didn’t Adam also put Harmony’s body in the vent! I heard people were saying that there was a foul smell coming from the place Adam was staying, and that liquid was coming out of the duffle bag! I hope his estranged wife tells the facts and the truth during trial. She is the eye witness of Adam harming his daughter. The state should have put harmony in a foster home, they failed her too.
