6:26 Those are gut Strings. Aquila now makes Red Synthetic Strings (nice and shiny) that sound like gut strings but they last alot longer.

Just finished watching this series and have really enjoyed it! Thank you very much for making it available here on RU-vid. We'll be visiting Williamsburg next month. Sure wish George's shop was still there, although I'm looking forward to seeing what they're doing in the Cabinet Shop.

@UCostsEB9F_NrvnyQzdqx0nQ What was that piece of music playing?

Impressive! Although, if I were to nitpick, that violinist's technique seems slightly anachronistic, at least compared to the standard method(s) of playing from the time.

I'd make a Sitar-psichord out of a normal Harpsichord by cutting off all the strings, breaking off the original bridges, replacing them with Buzzing Harpsichord Sitar Bridges, and re-string it.

There is a type of harpsichord that has a stop called an arpichordum (sometimes harpsicordium) that gives the strings a buzzing jivari like sound. The stop is found on the Muselar, which is a type of virginal, which is type of haprsichord (just like the bentside spinet made in this video is a type of harpsichord). The muselar also has a very different timbre then the spinet because the jack rail is located at 1/3 of the length of its strings instead of near the ends like on the spinet. There are likely other examples of unusual stops giving the instruments odd and buzzing sounds, the harpsichord is a complicated instrument with a long history spread throughout multiple countries. A new music technique used in contemporary pieces is to weave thin (~1cm wide) strips of paper between the harpsichord strings right at the bass of the strings where they connect to the soundboard, this makes the strings buzz in a very chaotic manner that can be manipulated to have unique effects. An excellent video demonstrating the arpichordum stop can be seen here at 2:03- ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9EGgmfhgoqI.html
