My Governor and he is truly a salt of the earth man and a happy warrior. I love living and growing up in Minnesota. Will miss his leadership here at home, but he'll be good for the country.
Man, I'm so happy for you. I'm South African and I get teary-eyed with relief just thinking about it. It's been so grim watching your elections unfold from afar. I'm so glad there is at least some hope again. Good luck! Rooting for Harris & Walz to win.
@@SamSedersLeftTeste it was a collective effort to show her that Shapiro was not our choice. Way too much baggage, especially comparing war protesters to the KKK when the people actually representing the values of the KKK are the ones supporting the other ticket in the presidential race.
I wasn’t going to vote for Biden over Gaza, with Kamala picking Walz, and the different rhetoric coming from her, I feel that she can be moved on this issue. It’s enough for me to vote for her, and then get to work pressuring the hell out of them to do the right thing.
Re: 2007 Military Supplemental funding. I was a delegate in his district in 2008 and confronted him about it. His staffer wanted to pull him away from the question but he told them no and then spent a bit of time just talking with me about it. I expressed my feelings about the war (I was against it as an unnecessary war). He listened. He then talked with me about why he ended up voting, it had to do with critical funding for other areas like education and infrastructure that he felt he couldn't pass on as that money was needed to help people. So yeah he's not perfect but I could respect him. It was clear then his approach was to doing what he could in power to help the most people. I ran into him again at the CD5 caucus in 2018 when he ran for Governor. He didn't remember me but he still took time to talk to everyone. He hadn't changed. He has a quality like that, I've only seen that level of consistent in Bernie and a few other Congressional people. He also admits when mistakes get made and is big on owning up. I respect him, we have done worse. I am sad to lose him as a Governor, but Peggy Flannagan is also someone we can follow who represents us.
This whole year I've felt so hopeless watching from Puerto Rico, powerless to do anything since we can't vote. This is the first time I've felt any hope whatsoever. Trump winning felt so inevitable and a matter of time and that had me SO distressed. Watching both Kamala and Walz has really given me so much hope that maybe they can pull this offer. It's still almost a tie but it finally feels like they have a fighting chances
Walz's first campaign ad from 2006 is cIrculating on twitter about regaining his hearing, and promoting heathcare, it's super good. Also worth a watching is a clip when he is in the House as he goes off on Bush's policies. Love his long term cred.
As an individual who was born in Latin America and was affected by the imperialistic policies of the United States I want to thank you for explaining this topic in a historically accurate way. Aside from having corrupt politicians in our countries many of whom have been supported by the U.S. The economic warfare on our countries by the U.S. have crippled our economies to a point where many of us have had to abandon our countries for better lives.
Tim Walz basically coaching us ngl , I thought he exactly sounded like a football ,coach a cool one , I actually appreciate that , makes a lot of great points to , type of speaker needed to get people fired up for November ,need that energy and enthusiasm.
Donald Trump says that people only really vote for the presidential candidate and don't pay too much attention to the vp candidate. Meanwhile Harris's vp pick might have just secured her her victory.
@@Priyanka.Aarya77 So, you don't understand how the electoral system works. Tell me then. Does Is vote for the Libertarians and US Constitution Party equal a vote for Harris? In short...shut the fuck up and go troll somewhere else.
How do you outlaw masks? That's like outlawing the wearing of a baseball hat. How can that be legal in the USA? Sounds like a lawsuit opportunity to me.
The national hero of the Philippines, Jose Rizal from the time of the Spanish occupation, actually had a novel called “El Filibusterismo” which actually had a more positive meaning because the protagonist was actually fighting against social injustices against the Filipino people such as clerical abuses, racism against the colonized Filipino people among others. It was written in 1891 in Spanish (Castilian). So yes the origin of the term is Spanish.
In 2032 he'll still be younger than Reagan, Bush the 1st, Trump, and Biden were when they ran. Full disclosure: I'm voting for Claudia de la Cruz of the PSL. I'm in SC where Democrats can't win a presidential election, haven't won a presidential election since 1976, and a vote for a Democrat is a vote wasted. If you're in a swing state, I'm glad you have Walz to justify voting Democratic.
Found this list: • Universal school lunches • Free public university for people making under $80k • Actual police reform • Put MN in the National Popular Vote Interstate Pact • Legalized cannabis in MN • Codified abortion rights in MN • Increased climate resilience funding with a balanced budget • Implemented universal background checks for guns • Banning PFAS • Stronger Right to Repair legislation than California • Accelerated MN’s renewable energy transition • Protecting trans healthcare and rights • Implemented paid sick leave • Also his kids were conceived with IVF so he knows the stakes when it comes to the Rs trying to ban that
Mayor Pete tbh. Polarizing because of “culture war” types. He’s an extremely talented communicator. He can still serve that role for Harris without being the VP.
I live in Minnesota, can confirm it is a paradise, next month my partner will be going to university FOR FREE, and with climate change it will have a tropical climate by the time I'm ready to retire! I am staying here forever.
Funnily enough, there was a wave of Scandinavian immigrants to Minnesota, because the landscape is very similar. Now, they're running things and making amazing policies! It really is like a miniature Sweden!
59:52 Whoever said Mexican American War (1848) called it. Taking half of Mexico's territory has got to be considered a "real, material" US intervention in Latin America! But the 1901 Platt Amendment in Cuba also preceded the "banana republic" era. The US required Cuba to put a clause in their constitution that the US could legally intervene militarily on the island, which they then proceeded to do four times between 1906 and 1920.
52:00 - "hungry people will not revolt" - quelle surprise, just like America. Keep the minimum wage punitively low and nobody's got time to protest for better working conditions, higher minimum wage, rent relief, universal healthcare, NOTHING.
Preying on congressional interns: this one hits close to home, as a DC college student these are my people. They are the dumbest amount us but that doesn’t mean they can be taken advantage of
Soo excited she picked Walz!! I’ve donated twice already and will again after the rally tonight! I wouldn’t have done any of this is it was Shapiro. Let’s goooooo!! 💪🥥🌴
Changing your values is the exact reason Kamala tanked before the primaries even started in 2020, unfortunately. I hope this is an indicator that she learned that lesson👏👏👏amazing choice!
Walz is so based, can we have one for the UK please? As you say, ask Labour how cozying up to the anti-immigrant right works out. You guys in the U.S. are energised and ready to go, over here we’re bracing ourselves for week two of the Tories’ racist chickens coming home to roost.
What are you talking about incel troll? It was Emma who was pushing for Brasher or Walz. It's you making up fake reasons to complain about Emma. GROW UP TIMMY!
Can’t blame us for the mess in Venezuela. United fruit was two generations ago. Just trying to blame ourselves so we are shamed into accepting half of Venezuela into our neighborhoods.
What James North and Sam Seeder miss in regards to Venezuela is that Venezuela (Chavez and Maduro) created the external enemy years before any significant economic sanctions were levied on them. Chavez started shittalking the US government since the early 2000s but the real economic sanctions began in 2017. You're looking at a 15 year gap between Venezuelan action and US reaction. Venezuelans have been leaving venezuela in varying degrees in the past 18 years. The shitty economic policy and political persecution by Chavez and later Maduro drove that migration, years before US sanctions. The first set of people to leave were college graduates, followed by professionals and wealthy business owners, then the not so wealthy business owner, then middle class random, and now it's the middle low and low class folks. Initially, those that had the means and visa to travel to the US did, the rest spread throughout LatAm through legal ports. Now people are entering illegally everywhere.
@@TheGreatAtario 1. If you (Chavez/Maduro) think the US is the great Satan and worst country in the world, why would you want to keep it as your most important trading partner? 2. Chavez started committing HR violations early on and the US said/did nothing about it... except some military sanctions. This was the norm for 15 years.
Not Shapiro? That may be the smartest move Harris will ever make. I'm voting for the economy, so Trump gets my vote. Personality means nothing if you can't pay your bills and eat. If socialism is so great why are Americans screaming about Maduro? Did he "cheat"? As if that means anything to Democrats.
@@ThePulaskiPumper The first thing Biden did was use his pen to kill the energy sector. Trump will undo his disastrous "climate change" policies and bring back the oil and gas industry. 45 will also end unfettered immigration which is taxing our education system, housing, welfare, medicaid, and unskilled job market. Last but not least, Trump won't be giving Ukraine and other foreign countries hundreds of billions of dollars which impacts inflation. Unlike Biden, Trump has an aversion to wars. The same wars that are tanking our economy and crashing the stock market. Everything the Biden regime has done has been counterproductive to our economy.
