So sad to hear today that Harry Belafonte has passed away. He, and the above mentioned here, made significant contributions throughout their many years.
Take the 18 minutes to watch this and you will be a better person for it... Harry was, is and will always be, what true activism is all about... RIP MR. B. 💙🙏
Harry is the last one standing, his friends and brothers are in the stars. I send you good vibes and love sir. Barbara Bush is such a delightful human. You could see her joy and pride in putting together this event to honour Harry, America and the world.
Very touching video. Before Calypso was referred to as 'West Indian' it was born out of the belly of Trinidad & Tobago. My country's music and culture were showcased in America by Belafonte and Geoffrey Holder especially. Both Poitier and Belafonte played leading roles in the US civil rights movement. Great, inspiring Caribbean men 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Happy Birthday Harry Belafonte! (3/1/22) To watch Sidney Poitier pay tribute to his dear friend is so moving and emotional. Looking back, I wish I had even greater appreciation for both Harry and Sidney!! They are legends, artistically, morally and every way that you measure a human being. ❤️
Hello Adele, I hope my comment wasn't taken as a form of invasion of your comments privacy. I will love to be a friends, how are you and Where are you from?
The wonderful Sidney Poitier has such class and he discusses the magnificent Harry Belafonte. I cannot believe that their was a “The American Negro Theatre.” This Country has no shame. These magnificent men are so talented in their craft and to consider that their start ha to be in The American Negro Theatre makes me sick. Please take my personal apology for a Country, which will never apology. I have valued both of you as your gifts have been demonstrated. I am so sorry that Harry Belafonte has died, but I know that God will welcome him into Heaven playing his magnificent music. Go gently sir while you sing for all of heaven.
This tribute was worthy of Harry Belafonte and that's saying a lot. I was a teen-ager during the civil rights struggle. It felt to me like I never marched anywhere that Harry Belafonte and Lena Horne were not in front of me--in the very front of all of us. So proud to be led by such class and such grace. Sorry if name icon comes up 2x. Some sort of computer glitch.
I'll never for get you Mr Belafonte and all that you taught me in 5hat single meeting loving and accepting self is truly important. Thank You! This is an award you truly deserve.

One of the reasons why I'm a proud South African is because of the likes of Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu. Mr Tutu siyabulela for your contributions to this country of ours. Rest in Paradise💜 🙏 . Also to Sidney Poitier Rest in Piece.

Beautiful souls. When more people aspired to be led by virtues of love, wisdom and goodness. Harry is beautiful inside and out. The world is better because of you. Now people in powerful and influential positions are afraid to speak up and truly lead for fear of twitter and being canceled.
@ KC Nwokoye Speaking WORDS of TRUTH so eloquently have touched the❤️of a 65yr. old black woman who longs for the LOVE & simplicity of yesterday! May your life be filled with blessings.....
I agree with you completely. Those times are certainly different from what we have today. All the "goodness" from back then, has been replaced by constant anger, hatred, and violence. It makes me so sad. 😢 I soooo long for what WAS...not for what is. 😔

I just have one thing to say about this great guy: DAY-O Here I come and me wanna go home 🏠.... my favorite song and he was in We Are The World 🌍 this is a great person..... I see he's lost his voice from singing Day-O one too many times
Just wondering why we only hear about the great contribution of these individuals when they die. Examples like Belafonte should be celebrated during his life time so that young people in each decade can learn valuable lessons from his life!!
