Harry Nilssen was an amazing talent. He lived his life like a runaway train. Lived his life to the fullest and did things to the extreme.But he was like a comet going through the sky. And is Musical work that he left behind is totally amazing.R.I.P Harry

This version of this song is the best ever as it is hauntingly beautiful. Mariah Carey's version is probably the most listened to but I find her version to be very screechy and it cannot hold a candle to this one.

Harry had an exceptional voice. This is a cover version of Badfinger’s 1970 song. This cover was released in 1971 and popularized it. Nilsson’s version peaked at #1 in 1971-72 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Harry Nilsson is a singer songwriter who had his biggest success in the late 60's-70's. He has a lot of great songs such as "Everybody's Talkin'", "Me & My Arrow", "The Puppy Song", "The Moonbeam Song", "I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City", "Jump Into The Fire", "Spaceman", "Coconut". Harry wrote the song "One" which was a big hit for Three Dog Night in 1969.

On another note he also wrote and performed the theme song for the 1960's show "The Courtship of Eddie's Father".

I heard this song first on the Badfinger album No Dice. It was written by Pete Ham and Tom Evens. They heard Harry's version in the studio when he recorded it. The story has it that they both broke out in tears when they heard Harry sing it. He owned the song. Ironically Pete wound up committing suicide and Tom did later. I'm not sure the reasons involved, but now when I hear the song I think of the suicides. I've heard different versions of the song, but Harry sang it best. Way back in 1971.
