In four minutes, Snape went from the most hated character in the franchise to the most beloved. Now that's good writing
@AureliaX
@AureliaX 7 месяцев назад
It's funny cause I never actually hated him! I always thought he was a interesting looking character with a unknown story that reveald itself more in every part of the movie. But first I thought he was really on Voldmort his side so he could get to Harry but it was nothing like that. And I have seen a lot of movies with sad endings. But nothing prepared me for Snape and his secret love for Lily and then still looking after her son while Harry reminds him of James, the man that made Snape his life a living hel. Thats why they always stated Harry has his mothers eyes. His mother was the good and strong one. His father actually a bully (and a swine) 😅😂

Snape was quite insufferable in the books. Even in the movies in POA, he straight up bullies Hermoine for no other reason other than she's smart. I know people like to romanticise Snape after this movie, but damn. People really forget what he was like huh?

I always love that in retrospect, Harry looking like James but having Lily's eyes is meant to showcase that conflict Snape has in terms of how he treats Harry. From afar, the kid looks like the man who made his life a living hell for years. But face to face, eye to eye, he sees Lily. Snape knows it's not fair to treat Harry the way he does, and is reminded every time they lock eyes.

@ElyonGibbor Месяц назад
@@JabamiLain Actually no. Lily fell in love with James the moment she saw him but because he hated her best friend, Snape, she needed an excuse to throw Snape out of her life if she wanted to be with the person she loved. So, she used this "mudblood" as an excuse to completely cut ties with him. Sometimes we say things we don't mean in a fit of anger and he did apologize, tried his best to be forgiven, so, if she really was the angel she was portrayed as, she would have understood that and forgave him after he apologized.

@Ra lee Snape was a complex character, yes he showed animosity towards Harry, but only because Harry looks almost exactly like James Potter, but... Snape also can't help but look at Harry like a son he and Lily would've had if James wasn't in the picture, and while I think the Jame's lookalike played a small role in his animosity, I also believe that Snape felt that Harry was spoiled, and needed someone that didn't just fawn over them, simply because he is the "boy who lived" Snape is a good character, well written and someone, readers, as they grow older could emphasize with.

Never had a movie, or book, left me at a true loss for words. Never had a movie or book uprooted my so-very-deep-seeded ill will towards someone before...or since. One of the most emotional moments in any of the Harry Potter films. Brings tears every time. Can I just say how masterful the editors were with weaving Alexandre Desplat's score together with "Dumbledore's Farewell" by Nicholas Hooper from Half-Blood Prince? Once the music mourned for Dumbledore, and Snape was the villain. Now, we mourn Snape, and Dumbledore was the villain all along. If the scene alone doesn't bring tears, the heartbreaking score behind it will. Magnificent piece of film.

2:11 this is the face of a man who is trying to suppress his anger after getting the biggest betrayal from someone he trusted so much.. Severus Snape could have shown harry only the part of his memory where he and dumbledore plans everything. But every part of his memory has essence of Lily. Sometimes it feels as if Severus wanted Harry to NOT hate him for what he did . He didn't wanted a PART of Harry that belongs to Lily to hate him for calling her that "word" , He wanted that part of Lily to know how much he loved her *"all this time"* , He wanted that part of Lily to know he would happily die for sake of her love even if that love belongs to someone else , Snape's love for Lily crossed boundaries to the point he protected her son with his life and soul the father of whom was his very own bully. He searched for Lily one last time in Harry's eyes and found her. His heart silent said "sorry" to her for last time for not being with her when she needed him the most . His love and his death was a proof of his undying love for her . Severus Snape you have our deepest respects /*

But after his death, it was like Ginny died, or when Fred died. People think Snape's death was like a cry of celebration, but really, he was trying to protect Harry, and the only reason why he disagreed with Harry is because James Potter bullied Severus as a kid. Only a true hero like Snape deserves a cry. R.I.P Alan Rickman💗💗

I don't think Severus ever hated Harry. He had to remain cold and distant to protect Harry. If he let his guard down, he would have foiled the plan to fool Voldemort, perhaps even so much as not being able to kill Dumbledore for it, knowing how much Harry looked up to the old Professor. As Malfoy was unable to do so, Voldemort would have stepped in and gained the full power of the Elder Wand. So much was at risk that Severus knew he had to hide behind a shell of cold emotion and convince the other Death Eaters that he was the right choice to stand against Dumbledore. It just wouldn't have looked right for him to show anything good towards Harry, no matter how much he would have wanted to take Lily's son under his wing and teach him.

Dumbledore opened his eyes. Snape looked horrified. “You have kept him alive so that he can die at the right moment?” “Don’t be shocked, Severus. How many men and women have you watched die?” “Lately, only those whom I could not save,” said Snape. He stood up. “You have used me.” “Meaning?” “I have spied for you and lied for you, put myself in mortal danger for you. Everything was supposed to be to keep Lily Potter’s son safe. Now you tell me you have been raising him like a pig for slaughter--” “But this is touching, Severus,” said Dumbledore seriously. “Have you grown to care for the boy, after all?” “For him?” shouted Snape. “Expecto Patronum!” From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe: She landed on the office floor, bounded once across the office, and soared out of the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears. “After all this time?” “Always,” said Snape.” ― J.K. The scene where Snape is holding Lily, crying, with baby Harry in the background is, in my opinion, one of the few moments where the film is better than the book. Alan's beautiful performance (RIP), the swelling music, and the gorgeous cinematography add to something that just cannot be captured through written text. But serious credit to Rowling for making the most tragic character of the 21st century. One of the best scenes in any films

One of the best examples of a written character that Hollywood can't match with today. For several years, we had assumed that Snape was the villain due to his prejudice against Harry, and for his prior allegiance to Voldemort. Only in the end do we see that every step of the way, he had been watching over Harry and begun to care for him. And now he was told that the child he had been caring for as his own child, the one link he had left to the woman he loved, was going to have to die in order to bring an end to one of the darkest evils ever to plague the wizarding world. Not only that, but in order to help set Harry's death in motion, Snape would have to kill one of his oldest friends and be branded a traitor by the rest of his friends until Harry learned the truth.

@@Hiphiobellyflop The Patronus Charm (Expecto Patronum) was the most famous and one of the most powerful defensive charms known to wizardkind. It was an immensely complicated and extremely difficult spell that channelled the caster's positive emotions into a powerful protection. To cast the spell, you needed to muster the happiest memory you could think of; the happier the memory, the better the charm would work. The memory would need to be extremely powerful and be very happy in order for the spell to work. Lily's patronus took the form of a doe. As seen in the clip, snapes patronus took the form of a doe, matching Lily's. That means that the happiest memory Snape has is of Lily, even after all those years. That is why Dumbledore says "After all this time?" And Snape responds "Always" meaning he has always loved Lily his whole life. The Patronus Snape casted is the one that led Harry to the sword of gryffindor, it was Snape all along protecting and guiding Harry, Lily's son.

Dumbledore: "after all this time..." The meaning of this is deep. Snape was looking after, caring and protecting Harry as best as he could during the hole series. Truthfully, he didn't care that Harry was James son as he let it shown in the previous movies, but he cared about Harry because he was Lily's son and that meant everything for him. That was the extent of his love.
