Snape went from seeing Harry as the son of the man he hated to seeing him as the son of the women he loved

Alan Rickman acted as Severus Snape with his whole heart and soul.

The “Don’t kill me!” right at beginning still hits the hardest for me. Dumbledore was seen as a sweet old wizard all the way up until this point. But the fear Snape had for him tells a completely different story

I still remeber as I read the book. Closed it, thought of it for few minutes. The man who seemd to be wicked and evil was one of the greatest and bravest fictional men of all time. Snape was a legend. A true one.

Severus's reaction, when he sees Lily dead on the floor just breaks my heart and makes me crying every time I watch it 😭😭😭

Even Voldemort admitted he was faithful to his perspective and both him and Dumbledore ended up wanting the ultimate sacrifice from him. But in the end it was clear his love to Lily was what defined his whole life.

We thought he was the villain, But he saved them all. We thought he had no feelings, But he was hurting the most inside. We thought he didnt care, But he did the most. We thought he was a coward, But he was the bravest man I ever knew.

I like how when Harry yells at him in the great hall scene that you can sort of see Snape almost give a slight smile at this, like he's proud of Harry. Alan Rickman will always be one of the greatest actors of all time.

In a sense, Snape was the father Harry never had, and that is what makes this so beautiful.

Bravery isn’t always a Gryffindor. Caring isn’t always a Hufflepuff. Cleverness isn’t always a Ravenclaw. Ambition isn’t always a slytherin. All those four, are found in one man. Severus snape.

When Snape said "Always." You know everything he did was to protect the people he loved. Ultimately being the last part of Lily. Her son. Man had a heart of gold. Right to the end.

Severus is the kind of man who does everything with good intention yet remains neglected by all his peers.

People say no one's love is permanent, Severus Snape proved all of them completely wrong. The unforgettable love done by him just made a difference between the world and he himself.

The "After all this time?" -"Always" part will always hit me like a brick wall. Never fails to get me choked up.

Severus Snape will always be one of the most well-written characters of all time. Such a complex,beautiful and tragic character!!

Alan Rickman portrayed Snape to perfection. His every expression, every line, every movement was amazing. He left us too soon.

the scene which breaks my heart is Snape getting attacked by McGonagall, he took out death eaters out, he didn't fight back, and he really could, and he also took the taunt 'Coward' he hated the most, by his friend McGonagall. He was the bravest and didn't say a word.

This is why Snape has always been my favorite character in HP series, he regrets a lot of things, does anything to protect whats left of those he loved(or basicly 1 person), even if it hurts him like hell

The scene at 2:00 is so well thought out. Severus knew Harry’s actions will be clouded by his raging emotions and so Severus raises his wand first and takes a defensive stance. Once Harry is pushed aside by Professor McGonagall and faces Severus, all he does is deflects the spells. He very well knows she cant defeat him in a fair fight. So his escape not only protects Professor McGonagall and Harry but also instills courage in them to fight against the dark. Brilliant.

This is where men cried. Going through eight movies perceiving him as the bad guy,only one scene of his memories was enough to change all of that. He indeed was the bravest man.

I come back to this video from time to time and cry every time watching it, because it is just so touching, I can't find the right words to describe how it makes me feel. His story is heartbreaking, saddening, wholesome and beautiful he showed resentment to the boy whos father bullied him relentlessly and grew to care for the son of the woman he loved the woman who he so longed for but never was able to get close enough to feel loved, his parents would constantly fight he wanted to get away from them so he could find peace so he could know love as Harry said "He was the bravest man i ever knew"

As a young boy I watched the Harry Potter series and never understood the hardcore and stoic posture Severus maintained throughout the series, but as an adult man I can now see how he's the actual mortar that brought balance the entire time. He's the definition of the saying: "You will never understand the violence it took to become this gentle."

Snape was the backbone of everything.

Growing up with these movies was honestly the highlight of my childhood. My stepdad was abusive but we would always bond over Harry Potter when we saw it in the cinemas every time a new film would be released. The movies, the toys and the games will always be something I cherish.

I always tend to come here whenever I’m feeling down. I watch this non stop till all my tears are gone. Till there’s none to tears to shed. Here I am again. At 3am, unable to sleep but this time unable to cry. I wanna cry. I wanna feel okay. I wanna not give up on myself.

he was used like a puppet by so many people, everyone thought he was a bad person but he spent his whole life trying to make sure everyone stayed safe, no matter what it cost him, he put harrys life before his own so many times, and died knowing ,after he practicaly sccrificed himself, everyone thought he betrayed them. I cant imagine how much he must loved Lily. He gave up his whole life for her. The terrible sadness he must felt when Lily died, so he protected Harry like he was her. Im so glad he saw her eyes a last time before he died.

The line that always stays with me is in the books when Dumbledore and Snape are walking and Snape says something along the lines of.. "I wouldn't do that, I'm not a coward.." and Dumbledore stops and replies, "Yes, you are not. You know, I think we sort into houses too early..." and walks away leaving Snape stunned.. Just showing that we all have light and dark.. but it's our actions that show us who we are.

Realizing that "please " was a reminder to keep the promise.

"A Prince's Tale" is my favorite soundtrack in the movie and chapter in the book. I cried so, so hard. I have a friend who hates him. She's a good person and a great friend, but she doesn't believe in love at all. She doesn't understand what falling in love can do to you. She doesn't understand the pain. She doesn't understand that moving on is not that simple, and even if you move on - even then - you never, ever stop loving someone. I was madly in love with someone who hurt me a lot when she scoffed as I told her I relate to Snape. I was so hurt, you know? But I also know that it's not really her fault. She's never fallen in love like that. You don't understand how truly heartbreaking his backstory is until you've gotten you heart broken yourself.

There are fates far worser than death. To be abandoned by everyone you loved and continued to hurt for love

Severus is my favorite character in the series; I don't give a shit what anyone says. He was an immensely complex character who did some bad things, but some very noble things as well. While his past misdeeds are inexcusable, I for one believe they are forgiveable. Snape was human. He made mistakes. He fucked up. But I don't think he deserved to suffer his entire life for it. He was a beautiful man. A troubled soul. A guardian to Harry and Hogwarts -- and Dumbledore's closest confidant. But above all, he was a person who chose to do the right thing in the end, even at the cost of his reputation, his friendships, and ultimately his own life. Others might ignore that, but I do not. Because in the end, and in my eyes, that man was redeemed. Rest easy my prince.

Probably the best character arc for a deserving actor, filled with heart touching breaking and mending moments of love and pain. Amazing edit.

What always got me, was the fact that Dumbledore wasn't referencing Snape's love for Lilly, he never questioned Snape's dedication or allegiance, his surprise was at the patronus itself. A patronus can change to match that of the patronus one loves, and Snape's hadn't changed since he and Lilly discovered theirs as children. For it to stay that consistent, and strong was a very rare thing--and it was very cathartic for both men. For Dumbledore, it proved his life long theory of 'love being the greatest power on Earth' and he could die knowing that Voldomort would fail, and the deaths of the Potters would not be in vain. For Snape, in that moment, he was able to fully commit to his conviction of protecting Lilly's son, to the death. It was a J.K. Rowling way of showing two men preparing themselves to die in a battle, that would spring the trap that wins the war. Rowling studied classics, and her storytelling in that moment lines up with the myths of Greek heroes (like the Spartans) dying for a greater cause.

I believe every time Dumbledore told Tom Riddle "You don't understand the power of love" he wasn't talking about Harry, he was talking about Snape. He was telling Riddle "I'm the only wizard you ever feared. But I'm not the one you should be afraid of."

2:15 notice how none of snapes spells were offensive. He was just blocking them as he didn't want to hurt his fellow colleague. He also re directed the spells towards the death eaters beside him

This edit is a masterpiece in it's own, applauds to the artist, can't do much other than like, share. I don't remember how many times have I seen this masterpiece over n over again, just simply mind blowing, spell bound😍.

This video really shows how heavy the burden Snape had to carry the whole time. There's so many layers, you can almost get lost and forget that snape was the most crucial element to Harry's success and the defeat of Voldemort.

And when Dumbledore asks him if he has grown to care for Harry, he doesnt say a thing to him, simply fills his heart with the happiest memories of him loving Lily and she being kind to him and sends hi Patronus away. That was one of the most poetic form of love that is expressed in this franchise, I cried when I read the book. I cried when I watched it in theatre. And, I cried while watching this. Alan Rickman is a legend. Goodbye sir.

Imagine the pain, he felt, when harry stood up and judges him for murdering dumbledore and Mcgonnagal starts to attack him. When you didnt know about the story this was a very bright moment. But watching it now is heartbreaking.

I loved Dumbledore, he was so well portrayed. Bellatrix was played amazingly. She brought the crazy to the screen like no other. But man, Snape. It just hits you time and time again how well Alan played him. His depth was truely amazing.

I'll be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of the music, BUT the montage of Snape being a double agent and in love with Lilly was SO freaking great. It's not just like, "awe that's sad," it freaking HEARTBREAKING! That he had to see Lilly in Harry's eyes every time he saw him. That he had to kill D.D. and never did get to have a moment with her until he came in after the killings. It's SO freaking SAD!

It's so sad that no one loved Snape all his life. Even Lily whom he loved the most left him. This realization just kills me

Besides the love Snape had for Lily, what makes me so impressed is that Dumbledore chose to trust Snape - a death eater because he knew that Snape loved Lily. Dumbledore trusted Snape because he knew and believed in love and the power of love, which is constantly mentioned in the whole franchise. This moved me to tears 😭😭

Snape was truly a tormented soul. Out of all the characters, his story was the sadest.

2:08 A lot of people missed this detail: When McGonagall attacks him, he deflects the spells towards his fellow Death Eaters and while leaving swoops near them and takes their wands. Even while being attacked, Snape stood his ground.
