CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Snape (Alan Rickman) reveals to Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) that he is the Half-Blood Prince.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Adolescent wizard-in-training Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts for another year of schooling and learns more about the dark past of the boy who grew up to become Lord Voldemort in this, the sixth installment of the film series that originated from the writings of author J.K. Rowling. There was a time when Hogwarts was thought of as a safe haven, but thanks to Voldemort's tightening grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds, that simply isn't the case anymore. Suspecting that the castle may even harbor an outright threat, Harry finds his investigation into the matter sidelined by Dumbledore's attempts to prepare him for the monumental battle looming ever closer on the horizon. In order to discover the key to Voldemort's defenses, Dumbledore enlists the aid of resourceful yet unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, who may have a clue as to their enemy's Achilles' heel. Meanwhile, teenage hormones cause the students at Hogwarts to lose focus on their true mission. As Harry and Dean Thomas clash for the affections of the lovely Ginny, Romilda Vane attempts to woo Ron away from Lavender Brown with some particularly tasty chocolates. Even Hermione isn't immune from the love bug, though she tries her hardest to suppress her growing jealousy and keep her emotions bottled up. But there is one student who remains completely aloof from the romance blossoming all around, and he intends to leave a dark impression on his classmates. With tragedy looming ever closer, it begins to appear as if peace will prove elusive in Hogwarts for some time to come.

"he belongs to the DL" words helped him don't let killing Harry by Bellatrix, because it's the only thing she cares. With these words he saved Harry don't letting him die in his bravest feelings. If he didn't interrupt, Bellatrix would have killed Harry(or caught him to Voldemort)because she got in her rage and it was pointless to stop her some other way. Severus is very strategic person, almost like Dumbledore. RIP both.
@UnitAlir

Bellatrix was not there in the book. Only some dumb deatheaters that would have blindly followed Snape's orders. Also, they were being chased by Aurors in the book. There was no time for them to take unnecessary baggage. And then there's the fact that Voldemort did not actually intend to kill Dumbledore. He was going to die anyways and Dumbledore would not be able to protect Harry for long. The mission was intended to humiliate the Malfoys due to Lucius' failure in acquiring the prophecy. Add onto that the fact that it was an impossible mission for Draco that was never actually intended to succeed, Voldemort never expected Harry to be there. The only people there that were clever enough to think about kidnapping Harry, were Draco and Snape. Snape told Draco to leave and that left Snape. The only person who actually wanted the child of Lily Potter to survive.

Honestly. How could they force a man with such a challenging mission? He saw the love of his life laying lifeless on the floor of her babies bedroom, he has made a promise to Lily to protect her son no matter what that may entail, he was asked to earn Voldemorts trust, the killer of his love and he was asked to kill his friend, his mentor, his teacher I'm assuming he was years ago and after it his mission was completed, he dies thinking that everybody hated him because they simply do not understand the pain he had to go through for the greater good. He sacrificed his body and his mind to make sure Harry succeeds in killing Voldemort

The look of horror on Draco's face as Bellatrix laid waste to the Great Hall, just displays that Draco was not truly evil on the inside- he never really wanted to see Hogwarts torn to pieces, he grew up there. I think inside, Hogwarts was just as much his home as it was Harry's.

CodenameP in the "always" scene... dumbledore and Snape talk about Voldemort will come back. Dumbledore is sure of it... the duel scene shows Snape, Dumbledore words were true... and they probably linked that Voldemort had shattered his soul... Snape sees clues that Harry is Voldemort in essence. I think it's from there that the search of the holocrux involve Snape (Dumbledore was already on the case but not Snape)
@UnitAlir
@UnitAlir 6 лет назад
PLTP The "always" scene took place during the same year Dumbledore ordered Snape to kill him. Preverus We do not know that Snape knew of Voldemort's horcrux's, let along knew what a horcrux was. Slughorn himself was shocked when he discovered that Tom Riddle knew what a horcrux was. As for everyone, JK Rowling had decided on Snape's fate and intentions before the filming of the first book began. She told Alan Rickman privately what would happen later in the series and about Snape caring for Harry due to his love for Lily. This is evident when you look at how he portrayed Snape in the movies. Even here, you can see that Snape cares deeply for Harry's safety. In the book, he became enraged at Harry calling him a coward when Snape himself was in so much pain after killing Dumbledore, a man Snape actually trusted (enough to tell him he loved Lily).

Tom Felton told a funny story where they wanted Draco and the death eaters to stay close to Snape as he walked out of the hall. He said Alan Rickman had turned to them and said “don’t step on my f***ing cloak” as it was tied around his neck and would have choked him if they did. Tom Felton gave a chuckle and thought he was joking until the first take, Tom stepped on the cloak, Alan was yanked backwards by the throat and Tom got the Rickman/Snape glare of fury. Everything was perfect in this scene. The only thing I wish they had put in that scene is the much more ferocious duel between Harry and Snape as depicted in the book. Snape's hatred for Harry peaking over Harry's insults towards Snape as a coward as well as Snape's taunting that Harry cannot close his mind or control his emotions in particular.

I think they made him less emotionally unstable and a little more lenient to Harry in the film, to make it so that - The role fits Alan Rickman like a glove . - Snape is a more believable secret guardian of Harry's safety, him being strong of mind and will makes more sense why Dumbledore found him so dependable. - To make Snape more likable, his antagonism and unfair bias is more a strict, authoritative and disapproving type rather than vindictive, spiteful and bitter. - To give the Snape vs Marauders more depth, Instead of having a sort of Harry vs Draco relationship, Snape was actually a victim of their bullying, making him much more sympathetic and tragic.

Harry tore past Hagrid and his opponent, took aim at Snape’s back, and yelled, “Stupefy!” He missed; the jet of red light soared past Snape’s head; Snape shouted, “Run, Draco!”and turned. Twenty yards apart, he and Harry looked at each other before raising their wands simultaneously. “Cruc -” But Snape parried the curse, knocking Harry backward off his feet before he could complete it; Harry rolled over and scrambled back up again as the huge Death Eater behind him yelled, “Incendio!” Harry heard an explosive bang and a dancing orange light spilled over all of them: Hagrid’s house was on fire. “Fang’s in there, yer evil -!” Hagrid bellowed. “Cruc -” yelled Harry for the second time, aiming for the figure ahead illuminated in the dancing firelight, but Snape blocked the spell again. Harry could see him sneering. “No Unforgivable Curses from you, Potter!” he shouted over the rushing of the flames, Hagrid’s yells, and the wild yelping of the trapped Fang. “You haven’t got the nerve or the ability -” “Incarc -”Harry roared, but Snape deflected the spell with an almost lazy flick of his arm. “Fight back!” Harry screamed at him. “Fight back, you cowardly -” “Coward, did you call me, Potter?” shouted Snape. “Your father would never attack me unless it was four on one, what would you call him, I wonder?” “Stupe -” “Blocked again and again and again until you learn to keep your mouth shut and your mind closed, Potter!” sneered Snape, deflecting the curse once more. “Now come!” he shouted at the huge Death Eater behind Harry. “It is time to be gone, before the Ministry turns up -” “Impedi -” But before he could finish this jinx, excruciating pain hit Harry; he keeled over in the grass. Someone was screaming, he would surely die of this agony, Snape was going to torture him to death or madness - “No!” roared Snape’s voice and the pain stopped as suddenly as it had started; Harry lay curled on the dark grass, clutching his wand and panting; somewhere overhead Snape was shouting, “Have you forgotten our orders? Potter belongs to the Dark Lord - we are to leave him! Go! Go!” And Harry felt the ground shudder under his face as the brother and sister and the enormous Death Eater obeyed, running toward the gates. Harry uttered an inarticulate yell of rage: In that instant, he cared not whether he lived or died. Pushing himself to his feet again, he staggered blindly toward Snape, the man he now hated as much as he hated Voldemort himself - “Sectum -!” Snape flicked his wand and the curse was repelled yet again; but Harry was mere feet away now and he could see Snape’s face clearly at last: He was no longer sneering or jeering; the blazing flames showed a face full of rage. Mustering all his powers of concentration, Harry thought, Levi - “No, Potter!” screamed Snape. There was a loud BANG and Harry was soaring backward, hitting the ground hard again, and this time his wand flew out of his hand. He could hear Hagrid yelling and Fang howling as Snape closed in and looked down on him where he lay, wandless and defenseless as Dumbledore had been. Snape’s pale face, illuminated by the flaming cabin, was suffused with hatred just as it had been before he had cursed Dumbledore. “You dare use my own spells against me, Potter? It was I who invented them - I, the HalfBlood Prince! And you’d turn my inventions on me, like your filthy father, would you? I don’t think so… no!” Harry had dived for his wand; Snape shot a hex at it and it flew feet away into the darkness and out of sight. “Kill me then,” panted Harry, who felt no fear at all, but only rage and contempt. “Kill me like you killed him, you coward -” “DON’T -” screamed Snape, and his face was suddenly demented, inhuman, as though he was in as much pain as the yelping, howling dog stuck in the burning house behind them -”CALL ME COWARD!”

Since no one is going to mention it, I will. Throughout this whole scene you can see the shock of what has transpired on Draco's face, he clearly feels guilty and utterly gutted. When Bellatrix destoys the Great Hall, he looks completely devastated, it was the one place he felt safe, away from his estranged family, all his happy memories have just shattered right before his eyes. I have always felt sympathetic to Draco as he truly never had any choice, he was abused and used by his father and then forced to kill, to completely annihilate any purity left in him. The scene where he also turns around to look at Harry with so much devastation, it is almost as if his is pleading to go back, but Snape knows that if he does choose to go to Harry's side, his family will die. I really pity Draco, it was because of his circumstances that he turned out this way, he was so conditioned to believe in his father's ways. To be honest, I think Snape saved both Harry and Draco in this segment of the film, Snape truly is a hero.

Not really. In the book its clear that Snape always hate James and Harry. The movie change a lot of things and eliminated too, for example, Snape never said "you have your mother's eyes", when he found Lily's letter, there was a photo of her, James and Harry, he broke it and only kept with Lily's picture. He only saved Harry because of Lily, but he always hate him (he was like his father).

Angie C which is your argument? even when Dumbledore said: “Have you grown to care for the boy, after all?” Snape shouted “For him?" “Expecto Patronum!” ... this "for him?" show again Snape did not develop any sort of caring feeling for him, it was only because of Lily he was doing all this, it was because he was Lily's most important treasure. That's the sacrifice of Snape, to have to care of a child he hate, that reminds him his father both physically and in his arrogant personality, that and many other things like he was going to be considered a betrayer ... Even when Dumbledore told him that Harry must die, Snape replied “I thought. . . all those years. . . that we were protecting him for her. For Lily.”
