#ESASummer19 Speedruns - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (PS1) [Any%] by ToreLehmann ToreLehmann / torelehmann This video was recorded live at ESA Marathon. ESA Marathon is a Speedrunning Event held in Sweden twice a year.
This is gonna sound really weird but I always thought this game was super creepy. The levels feel very empty and lifeless a lot of the time and they're so big (at least they felt that way when I was a kid). And god damn, there's ambiance and no music in some of the levels. Kinda the same feel I get from the original Tomb Raider as well. Although it was probably intentional in Tomb Raider. Maybe it's just me, lol.
cadvan6 totally agree with you. I always felt pressure and a sense of foreboding playing it for some unbeknown reason! As a 30 year old now I think it’s the emptiness of the place and the quiet. Still kind of creepy.
I felt the exact same! For the first 5 minutes of the game there are students walking around but after that the entire place is empty it feels really lonely and creepy.
No joke! I thought i was the only one that thought this! The 3rd floor sneaking around Filtch and Ms.Norris in particular stick out in my mind to this day for some reason.
1:20 was how much time took me to pass that first broomstick tutorial. And the peacock. Fuc this game, it's mini-games and the fact that I still enjoy it after all this time. Always.
omg this game. never got to finish it, since it scared me. and hagrid! the first time he appeared, he was only seen from behind and i thought "where is his head...?" then BAM! there was his front shot and i went "uagh?!" biggest shock in my life. good old ps1 times and i always had trust issues in harry's jump skills. "run towards the edge, he will jump without button inputs" well no, i cant let you make such important desicions. you will just fall into the abyss i never knew the school had
I had good memories of this game as a kid. And then I bought it again two years ago in a yard sale and I finished the game in one day. I thought there was a lot more secrets in the game as a kid, I was disappointed.
@@eviljoel Lower expectations? I played harry potter and the chamber of secrets for the pc recently. It still has 1 secret I can't seem to unlock. There is a flipendo patch outside of the main building on the left and a patch of wall with a slightly lighter texture. To this day I haven't figured out what those two things are good for. I have a 100% save file therefore I conclude that it is good for nothing and the programmers just were to lazy to cut it out.
Loved this game as a kid, but I always ended up quitting by the time I got the room with the sleeping troll. That part gave me a lot of anxiety. Even thinking about gets the adrenaline coursing through my veins in a fight or flight response.
At my 26 years old, I still have a PS1 with both HP 1 & 2. Absolute masterpieces, no other game in history will be this good, besides Vigilante 8 2nd Offense of course.
What? I couldn't believe it's actually THE Tore Lehmann. Loved your appearances on CoolageBrothers. Happy to see you get to do all this cool stuff in Malmö. Really wish I could've been there. Mange hilsner from Denmark
of course I am also one of the people who played it in the childhood. watching this, brought all the good memories but also made me realize how complex and difficult games were back then. there is no certain objective in this game (and many others in these times). you had to find everything. of course there were some tutorials or objectives during the game, that would be absurd but what we are watching is actually an old school game. remember your first rpg games, you had to take notes on your paper. that was amazing. I remember spending mawny hours or days to progress on this game. nostalgia is good, more of it hurts. but this one made me realised that we should appreciate the old games more and more.
Why was this recommended to me? I'm not complaining, just why? But man, isn't this nostalgic. This game looks as good as ever! Mostly I remember the god awful Finnish dub though, which was so bad it made the game ten times better. Also just watching the flight sections is giving me relived nightmares...
I remember playing this game and I was so annoyed on those flying broom challenges because the game is asking you to move a 3 dimensional course and trying to move through rings in an era when the Playstation controller didnt have an analog stick
i ran into the sequance break as a kid where you skip to the bank. no clue how i managed it i always assumed it was due to disk being scratched. never could get there normally cause game was creepy to me :P.
I remember plaything this game so much yet there is so much of the game I don't have a clue on ( I played on pc ) like the dungeon bit at the hour mark or even Greengotts did they different games have different content?
Lord what a tirp down memory lane! Also it is crazy to me how disconnected the "plot" of this game is, like you don't even really know who any of these characters are if you didn't read the books or watch the movies lol
