When the author wrote this, she based Dementors after depression, after suffering it herself for many years. How they come in, sometimes unexpectedly and suck all the happiness and good feelings from you. They don't care who they affect, some people suffer more than others. And Chocolate always helped her feel better....that's where the idea for dementors and chocolate came from.

If you notice when Lupin jumps in front of Harry in the class when the Bogart turns into a dementor, the Bogart turns into a full moon, which is what he fears most.

The marauders got their names in relation to the animal they turned into Peter - Wormtail (rats tail) James - Prongs (stags antlers) Remus - Moony (full moon makes him change to werewolf) Sirius - Padfoot (dogs paws)

To give some light to the Aunt Marge balloon scene: Wizards are capable of doing magic without a wand but the skill has been lost overtime and now it takes great skill for a witch or wizard to do spells without a wand, the most common things you see are telekinesis or small scale pyromancy. For young wizards who already have difficulty controlling magic and spells when they get emotional there tends to be magical effects which is why the wand is important. The purpose of the wand is to act like a focus point for a witch or wizards magic so it essentially makes it 50x easier for them to do all their magic. Wands themselves are replaceable but the connection between a witch or wizard and their wand is completely unique. No two wands ever behave the same just as no two witch or wizards are the same.

Peter betrayed Harry’s parents and Sirus went after him . When he found Peter Peter yelled black betrayed the potters and then blew up the street killing a bunch of people, cut his finger off to think he was dead and turned into a rat. Sirus stood there laughing because he was stunned and unbelieved he got set up by Peter and he went to jail as a innocent man

If you go back and watch the original punching scene you can see future Hermione's hand on a stone wall in the background. A strong patronus takes the form of an animal, Harry's and his Dad's are a stag. Harry's father, Sirius, and Peter learned to become animagus so they could accompany Lupin when he transformed. Sirius was a dog, Peter a rat and James a stag. Dumbledore wanted Lupin to be able to attend Hogwarts so The Shrieking Shack was made for lupin to go to on full moons to transform and the womping willow planted to keep students away. They were the "Mooney, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs" that made the Marauder's Map. Hagrid is a half giant. Medical magic is a thing so injuries aren't as serious. Don't you remember them regrowing bones in the second movie? That was Sirius as an animagus dog at the beginning. An Animagus is an elective transformation.

Dementors take your good feelings, chocolate gives us serotonin, which makes us happy and joyful. That's why it helps 🙂

For me the highlight of the entire movie reaction was you laughing at Malfoy after buckbeak attacks him 🤣🤣🤣🤣

When young wizards and witches are angry or scared, basically when they feel really strong emotions, they do magic without meaning to or uncontrolled magic. So, weird things, that they don't intend, tend to happen around them.

Some of the facts that was mentioned in the books but omitted in the movie: the Whomping Willow, the tunnel under it and the ruined hut were built specifically for Lupin when he came to study at Hogwarts, so that he could keep his secret (he was bitten by another werewolf when he was five). Harry once caught him drinking a potion that later was revealed to be kind of a neutralizer: it could not prevent the transformation, but helped Lupin keep his mind so that he would not hurt anyone. However, it is effective only if taken regularly, and on the night when the truth about him was revealed he did not take it, so... you know the rest

I love how nobody ever talks about how smart Fred and George must be to have figured out the marauder's map without any of the creators there to show them how to use it.

This is one of my favorites. Harry show pure unbridled joy from flying on buckbeak which is something we haven’t seen yet from this very sad boy. He also got his first touch of a parent when serius touches him to show him his parents are always close to him in his heart. Two very important moments for this young man so hungry for normalcy

James, Peter Sirius and lupin were best friends at school. Lupin became a wolf at a young age and dumbldore allowed him to come to school. He set up the womping Willow to protect the enterince to the shack where lupin would go to change.The other three became unregistered animagis to help control lupin as he wouldn’t attack animals, and they were “free” to roam the grounds and hogsmede though they had close encounter’s

one thing that I think might help you moving forward is to understand that even though Harry and crew have wands, they are just in their 3rd year at this point so they don't know every spell. they're in school so they're still learning and the spells they do know aren't necessarily going to work for every situation. also, in the beginning, Harry was doing magic without a wand. it's the same thing he did in the first movie when he made the glass disappear at the zoo and Dudley fell in. this time, though, he was doing it purposely whereas the first time he didn't know what he was doing. witches and wizards don't need wands to do magic, the wands just help to focus and direct the magic for better accuracy. they also don't need to speak spells out loud if they are advanced enough, they can do them in their heads, which is something that allows for better advantages when dueling. as for Hagrid, he is half giant and half human (his mom was a giant and his dad was a wizard). really loving your reactions! ❤

Wizards and witches can do magic without a wand..the wand is meant to focus their magic. which is why when you have a broken wand or a wand that didn’t choose you the spells go haywire. Also for future reference spells do not have to be spoken aloud. In HP lore there is an African wizard school called Uagadou that specializes in only the use of hand signals to cast spells instead of wands. Great reaction!

The chocolate is explained much better in the books. It's actually the recommended antidote for an encounter with a Dementor. That's why Lupin kept giving it to Harry.

19:56 - Sirius didn’t take Harry in because he had just been accused of murdering their friend Peter in a psychotic rage and was thought to be the right hand man of Voldemort, who led Voldemort to Harry so he could murder Harry and his family. Then, he was sentenced to life in prison for murder. So…that’s why they didn’t hand baby Harry over to him. They thought he was a mass murdering pro baby killing unhinged lunatic. And at the time his home was prison where babies probably aren’t allowed anyway.

Harry used wandless magic even in the first movie when he made the glass in the zoo disappear. A wand in the hands of a muggle would do nothing because muggles can’t produce magic. 8:38 Dementors make you relieve your worst memories. That scream was Harry’s mother on the night she was murdered. Harry doesn’t remember anything from that night because he was a baby, but he does sometimes hear that scream in his nightmares and remembers green light (from the killing curse) 10:58 Hagrid is half wizard, half giant. His story is actually pretty sad. His mother left when he was a kid and he was raised by his father who loved him very much but his father died when Hagrid was 11. He was framed by Voldemort for opening the Chamber of Secrets in his third year and was expelled and they broke his wand. People generally always treated him poorly because he was half giant so Dumbledore took him in and made him the groundskeeper at Hogwarts and Hagrid was eternally grateful and is very loyal to Dumbledore. Hagrid also loves taking care of magical creatures because he could rarely form bonds with people due to their prejudice against him.

In the books its explained how Dumbledore hates dementors and is against them guarding the school but he couldnt do anything cause Ministry of Magic ordered that dementors stay at Hogwarts

There's a department of Accidental Magic Reversal because wizards, kids especially, can't always control their magic in high emotion situations. A wand basically hones control of the magic and makes the magic more precise. Marge's memory was modified after they reversed the magic so she didn't remember any of what happened.

Yes Sirius was innocent the whole time. The article of Ron's family in Egypt? Sirius saw it and recognized Pettigrew in his rat form, which is why he escaped Azkaban to go to Hogwarts, to kill Pettigrew. Lupin didn't know Sirius was innocent until the shrieking shack scene. To Pettigrew- "Lily and James only made you Secret-Keeper because I suggested it,” Black hissed, so venomously that Pettigrew took a step backward. “I thought it was the perfect plan... a bluff... Voldemort would be sure to come after me, would never dream they’d use a weak, talentless thing like you... It must have been the finest moment of your miserable life, telling Voldemort you could hand him the Potters." And, “Remus!” Pettigrew squeaked, turning to Lupin instead, writhing imploringly in front of him. “You don’t believe this ... wouldn’t Sirius have told you they’d changed the plan?” “Not if he thought I was the spy, Peter,” said Lupin. “I assume that’s why you didn’t tell me, Sirius?” he said casually over Pettigrew’s head. “Forgive me, Remus,” said Black. “Not at all, Padfoot, old friend,” said Lupin, who was now rolling up his sleeves. “And will you, in turn, forgive me for believing you were the spy?”

Aw, the rebellious teenage years. Got to love those stinkers. Haha. My favorite movie of the franchise. My pet rabbit is named Patronus, because to conjure a patronus you have to thinknof extrewmly happy thoughts and my rBbit makes me happy, so Patronus. I do have a few pet peeves. And I may edit this comment as I go, but here we go. 1. Magic in the first part of the movie at the Duraley's, he would have gotten owls like in the second movie. He was writing an essay in the book series. 2. Tom the bar keep and owner of the leaky cauldron was turned into a hunchback Edgor from Frankenstein monster musical. Wtf. Plus we already met Tom in sorcerer's stone. Hagrid introduced him. 3. Didn't show Harry's week in diagon alley, eating ice cream, exploring, and spending his money instead of pretending he's poor for the Dursley's. 4. He learned so much about his parents from Lupin, because they were friends. But thats just glossed on over. 5. The quidditch matches. Just needed to show more. He actually produced his first patronus during a quidditch match. 6. The werewolve is more wolf looking in the books. In the books that line what's the difference between a wolf and an animagi was changed from the difference between wolf and werewolf. 7. The arguing between Ron and Hermione were completely justified and Ron was made to look like a jerk. I mean he can be, but... the movies did Ron dirty from here on out. Sorry but he's pretty smart and a strategist like you see first movie. I hope your mods if you have any, don't take this little one down. 8. That scene when the get back to the future and Ron is confused and Hermione and Harry don't tell him. Ugggg why???? This one is just a time turner explanation. When you get back to the present, you age however many hours/days/years you elected tongo back. So they only age a couple hours. But this is why wizards and witches cannot go back years to try to change time because it ages them. And also it's not like creating multiverse realities in their time traveling. I'm not an expert obviously but yeah. That's the time turner limitations.

This movie is definitely a good one, they all are. Also, even though Ron might seem just like a comic relief, don’t underestimate him, he is very brave and loyal. He was actually the one to stand up to Sirius in the shack, he stood on his broken leg. And when hermione gets called a know it all by Snape he defends her. Also, Hagrid is half-giant. And make sure to react to little moments like the Ron and hermione holding hands thing or laughing after coming back from time traveling. Those are what make the series so special. I know it’s hard to fit everything into a video, but if you think something feels iconic like the punch or leading up to something or an ongoing joke, those are so special. And lupin and Sirius are good

Three of my favorite things about Prisoner Of Azkaban are: 1. The song "Double Trouble". 2. Harry flying on Buckbeak's back around Hogwarts. 3. The introduction of Gary Oldman as Sirius Black and David Thewlis as Remus Lupin.

I am so sorry for leaving such long comments, but I really hope that you will enjoy them since you seem to enjoy the movies. 1. Harry saving himself is such an epic moment because this movie in particular is a coming of age story. In the first two books, Harry has a lot of help and things go his way. Dumbledore saves him at the end of the first book (the movies changed this) and in the second book Dumbledore sends Fawkes and the Sword of Gryffindor. Then in this one Snape comes to rescue them and then as he is watching himself and Sirius be killed by the Dementors, Harry again waits for an adult to come to his rescue, only he realizes that nobody is coming and that he will need to save himself. He essentially “grows up” a lot during this book which is also seen through him standing up to the Dursleys at the beginning and constant themes of loneliness (Harry running away from home, Harry not being able to go to Hogsmeade with his friends Harry desperately trying to save Sirius who is now the only family he has, etc). These themes are explored a lot more and in depth in the books. 2. Also, the story of the Marauders was sadly cut out from the film and it’s SO important to the whole story. All of them have quite a tragic story. Lupin was attacked by a werewolf as a child and that’s how he became one. He didn’t think he would be able to ever go to Hogwarts or socialize with people, but Dumbledore planted the Whomping Willow and built the Shrieking Shack so that Lupin would have a place to safely transform. While at school, Lupin became best friends with James (Harry’s father), Sirius and Pettigrew. The three of them learned to become animals so that they could accompany Lupin on his transformation nights to make him feel less alone and scared since transforming into a werewolf is quite traumatic. After their years at Hogwarts the war started and Pettigrew revealed the Potter’s location to Voldemort after he threatened to kill him. Sirius was outraged after this betrayal and went to find Peter and seek revenge but Peter killed 12 muggles in an act of desperation and framed Sirius who went to prison as an innocent man. With James dead, Sirius in prison and Peter now with the dark side, Lupin was left without the only friends he had. As an adult, he became severely depressed, didn’t want to date anyone or have children because he didn’t want his child to be a werewolf and he also couldn’t find a job because nobody would hire him as a werewolf. But Dumbledore was the one who gave him a job and a home, same as with Hagrid. Dumbledore is always there for people. Also, Lupin is a standin for people with a chronic disease that is socially looked down upon (such as HIV) in the context of the story. 3. The moments with Lupin and Sirius and Harry are so special. Harry never knew his parents so being around people who were actually friends with his parents means a lot to Harry. Both Lupin and Sirius love Harry very much and are sort of father figures for him, especially in the books.

You find out in one of the later books that hagrid is in fact mixed. He's one of the few characters in the series that is a hybrid of a human and a magical creature. He is part giant. Yes his mother was a giant. His father was actually a very small human man. He actually says at some point in the 4th movie that he could pick him up with two fingers at the age of six and put them up on the dresser and he died when hagrid was 13. Hence the reason he basically lived at the school because his mother was never with him. She basically stayed with the Giants and his father raised him alone and then his father died when he was 13. Professor flitwick, the itty bitty guy, I believe one of his grandparents was an elf or something like that. I know that Fleur de la core it's never mentioned in the movies, but in the books they say that she is part Veela which is a magical creature that normally looks like a beautiful young woman with silvery blonde hair. But when angered they grow bird like beaks and talons and can throw fireballs so they are not to be f***** with. They were the mascots of one of the quidditch teams at the world cup and Fleur says one of her grandmother's hairs is in her wand as the magical core and the one bakers like oh, I would never use a Villa hair there far too temperamental and the other guy for the tournament. He's got a quart of his wand that dude doesn't use either. He only uses Phoenix feathers, unicorn hairs or dragon heart strings. But there are some other cores that are used by one makers and other countries that Olivander doesn't f*** with

This one is phenomenal because it introduces to characters that everybody loves! Fun fact it does not directly tell you in the movie, but it's kind of implied that Harry's father James was prongs, Sirius was padfoot, lupin was Moony and that little s*** Peter was wormtail because of their in omega's forms with the exception of lupin because he's just a werewolf

For years there has been controversy over what is my favorite HP movie. I can tell you in confidence for years its been the fourth one. In the Fantastic beasts movie it is mentioned that muggles are more fragile than regular humans,which explains why they survive so much that would probably kill or at least really harm a muggle.

No, Peter was the one who knew where the Potters were hiding their secret location and he gave it up to lord Volamort. But he he frames Sirius black that made it look like he kill his friends and then Peter cut his finger off and turn into a rat. So, Sirius would be blamed and trailed for murder.

LoL you might want to pause the movie when you wish to say something because you talk over important dialogue all the time, then you miss what is happening. 🙂 In the first movie they said young wizards accidentally do things when they are upset and the dursley aunt was being so horrible he thought she was full of hot air so she blew up lol. He was not dark or malicious, just was not sorry the accident happened as she was terrible. When Harry was in the bar under his cloak, they said that Sirius murdered Peter Petigrew and all they found was a finger; they thought Sirius, who was the Potters best friend, had been secretly with voldemort and told him where the potters were hiding. So he went to jail with those terrible dementors as his guards. When Harry said to Snape to keep his nose out of his business he had just said the map had writing on it and he was just reading it; it was not him being disrespectful - just what was on the paper. That is why Lupin said it must just be made to insult people, likely a zonko product, so he would look into it. When Harry saw Peter on the map and said he saw someone who was supposed to be dead on the map to lupin, that is why Lupin was so shocked. So Sirius was innocent, never betrayed anyone, an endured 12 torturous years in Azkaban. You talked over dialogue in the room or missed that Peter is the one who betrayed the Potters and told voldemort where they were hiding, knowing he would kill them. That's why Lupin & Sirius want to kill Peter.

Maybe just maybeee push the pause button when you start talking because you miss SO much while you talk!! Would be impossible to catch all the important details because you talk over them and miss them.

My favorite is the second movie. This one I don't like. Although as a book the third part is very very cool. As a book the Prisoner of Azkaban is my fav
