For the past week, I have been on a John Landis binge. Pulling up every conversation, interviews I can kind find. He never disappoints. I am constantly learning so much about the industry.

Did you find out how to avoid prosecution for three cases of criminally negligent homicide?

Landis is a genius with an encyclopedia-like knowledge of cinema. He's also as brilliant a storyteller in front of the camera as he his behind the camera. I love listening to this man.

I'd love to hear Landis's story about the weird burial ceremony that inspired AWIL just to see if it is indeed real.

No question, John is a great guy to talk to, because most of the time, he tells the unpainted truth as he knows it. He's very cynical and harsh at times, but he doesn't lie on purpose. He rides on his own enthusiasm and his knowledge; sometimes, he tends to run his mouth a bit too much. I'd love to watch this chat with John, just to see how much of this is factual, and how much is a mistake he missed.

@Variable Volume ok so take it this way. Maybe he was responsible for the death of certain kids. My deepest respects to them. But you can't ignore the impact Landis and his films have had on pop culture. Most people click on this video to learn filmmaking and more about it, from a really capable and creative filmmaker. He was careless once right and those kids nor Vic Morrow deserved to die. It's wrong what happened, but that doesn't make John Landis less talented. I don't know him much as a person, maybe I won't like him. But, I do adore him as a filmmaker, and as an aspiring filmmaker, I'd like to learn all the good things from wherever I can. You gotta look at both sides, pal.

@@AA-sn9lz no it’s not ok...he deliberately broke laws that were there to protect Vic Morrow and the children...because his artistic vision mattered more than their lives...and they died...that can be strongly argued as murder...manslaughter at the very least

There were seven (not six) skeletons at the end of JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS, one for each head of the Hydra.

Most everything that he said about Dick Smith was accurate, except for the part about him re-using the "Little Big Man" prosthetics on other actors. That is absolutely untrue and since he was a good friend, I happen to know firsthand. The very first extreme old age (over 100) that he did was for the "Dark Shadows" TV show. He carefully used photos of extremely old people to arrive at the final look and the only reason that these makeups appear similar, is because of something that Dick told me personally. He said that when doing his research and examining the photos, after we hit about 90, the bags under our eyes disappear and it all melds together, and the definition of the lips goes as well. We pretty much look pretty similar in that state of old age and going by the actors life mask he them sculpted features that he thought would actually age that way. He had just moved from TV to films and tasked with creating 121 year old Jack Crabbe makeup on Dustin Hoffman, He of course made an entirely new sculpture that was done over Dustin's lifecast. So although these makeup may appear similar to this hyperactive guy, they are actually very different.

I think a similar technique was used for The Hunger with David Bowie and Big Trouble in Little China.

A blind man could see what happens when you curse the gods.. you just said that right? And then you go and you curse your own God.. which is the only God that counts, anyway.. I found that very disappointing
