Just a note about picking rhubarb I learned after loosing rhubarb plants. I couldn't understand why my plants were dying. I asked my Mom. She asked how I was picking & I said I was cutting the stems. She told me to never cut, always pull the stalks. Since then, I have beautiful, healthy rhubarb. The video was excellent! Good job working solo!

This explains why I don't have a good crop. I've always cut it. This year the knife is staying in the house!

My grandparents said you could only pick rhubarb in June. NOT TRUE..... I started with 1 plant and picked it heavily the first year it turned into 2 plants. Then the next year I again picked it heavily and shared with neighbors and 2 plants turned into 6. Now I have a mass that does stay confined to one spot but it's gorgeous. I'll send you a pic. Leaves are poisonous so I leave them at the base of the plant and do not put them in compost pile. The whole thing gets a good covering of leaves in the fall before it snows. Mine is mulched so I can stick my hand down in the dirt.. Must love that good ole Minnesota manure. Here it's considered a weed. Go figure..... Weed crisp tastes pretty good to me. I also freeze small cut up pieces (2 cups) to a package so when it snows here I can cook some. Thanks

Love this video, love rhubarb! My great grandmother always picked us rhubarb from her garden and we ate it raw, dipped in sugar as a treat. She also made delicious pies, crisps, and cakes with rhubarb. I grow it in my garden and always think of my dear great grandma Varga.

I love watching your videos. The rhubarb receipt looks great. However, may I suggest you never boil tea leaves. It makes them bitter. Bring the water to a boil. Take the boiling water off the heat, drop in the tea and/or mint leaves, cover with a lid and steep for five minutes or so. Strain the tea, add sugar while the water is still warm for sweet tea, dilute with more water and chill. Sincerely, from an old southern girl.

Laura make sure you also put some type of wire around the eves of the builiding. I see gaps between the walls and the ceiling. A varmint can get there and raise heck in your coop. Just talking from exprience. I had that happen to my bantams last year. It was a sad day.

Loved the video today. I am all about your landscaping but have so enjoyed the combination of the plant, chickens and cooking today. Your mother's term "romancing the ordinary" has become my favorite saying. I wish I had thought of that concept-reasoning when I was young. Maybe you could bring more of that in some of your videos as well. If you ever run out of ideas from the landscaping, "romancing the ordinary" would be a good addition. I am a detail person and loved watching you make tea and covering it with a towel in the fridge. Loved the pitcher and glass set too.

You did a great job filming this video! I LOVED seeing the sempervivum bunny! When you did the unboxing over a year ago I immediately ordered semps from mountain crest gardens. I made a beautiful vertical frame. Then you did yours a year later and omg I wanted to redo mine! I did find that just the sphagnum moss wasn’t enough. I had to redo it and add some soil. It is much happier now! A pricy project but the payoff is so worth it! I ENJOY every video!
