Not anything to do with this video directly, but having to do with tomatoes LOL. While gathering this morning’s garden harvest… I found a huge tomato worm covered with eggs! The surprising part is, I have never seen another tomato worm in the garden anywhere. And have not seen any signs of chewing on any of the leaves. Love your channel! Watch every single one. And your daughter is adorable!
Been growing Hungarian Heart tomato for 3 Years now. Had one this year that was pushing 3lbs and another 2.5 lbs. They continue to push out large tomatoes throughout the season and are the meatiest that I have found.
So jealous of your "mater's"...Ours in nebraska are taking a little longer to ripen this year. And I agree with other posts. Your daughter stole the show. We love your channel. Thank you for all your hard work and videos.
Beautiful tomatoes. Glad I found this. I will be checking out your videos to see if you have ever grown the Orange Peach or Midnight Snack. Thanks for posting.
So funny, I bought seeds from your website and grew a 2.1 pound tomato, harvested it last week and my son made smiley faces in it with his fingers 🥰🤣 he was so proud haha, it was a Kellogg’s beefsteak variety. Just harvested 2 more 1.5 and 1.6 pounders from the same plant and still have 2 or 3 left to get!
What a precious "garden helper"! They're such amazing gifts. Thanks for sharing some new & exciting tomatoes I've never seen or heard of before. "New challenge", u say? 💯
I live in an apartment(aka a flat) , and luckily I have a porch area which allows me to grow things from time to time. So, heres my "tomato story." One day, when I went to the bus stop, one of the villagers gave away some of their surplus (cherry tomato?) plants.(already replanted in pots!) So, just for the heck of it, I grabbed 5 of them, and planted them outside of my door. To my surprise, they were the most productive tomato plants I've ever grew! (context; im no gardener, but have gardened veg before.) I harvested around 130,(yes I actually counted) and some were very large for a cherry tomato. :D My current grow(might make vid if i get bored) is a single carrot from Tesco. I bought it around January and before I planted it, it was in all honesty surplus food and just sat in a plastic box on top of my fridge for a week or two. But what intrigued me was how it REFUSED TO DIE. It developed fine white "air roots,"(??) and even some greenage at the top! Impressed by this, I decided to plant it. I'm guessing it suvived off of humidity(??), as I never watered it. Well today,(almost the end of April) I inspected it,(still not watered) and even though it is doing well, I'm surprised that it hasn't rooted into the ground. I know this because while prying at it, I dislodged it by mistake. BUT!!, It seems to be doing very well! ..,Yes we get rain btw.(obviously) :D
Your daughter is adorable!! Also, not that's it's a big thing, but as someone who lives near the Santiam river, it is pronounced, Santi-AM, as in, I AM a gardener. Emphasis on the final syllable, with a different "a" sound (not ahh).
Man your daughter is cute, I have an 8 month old little lady nowadays and can't wait till shes helping me in the garden. That little voice of hers is brilliant! I love how talkative she is.
Other then the one you said makes the best pizza sauce, wish you had shared if they are best canned, sauced, Frozen or eaten right away. But this makes me want to do more next year. Thanks.
Luke I’m going to tell you something you surely know, your daughter is absolutely gorgeous! The perfect little helper, when she came up and said daddy I love you my heart melted.
OMG, your little girl is SO charming! What a wonderful thing you're doing, getting her out in the garden, helping you, teaching her the love of growing food.
Awe her little sandals were on the wrong feet hehehe. My son used to constantly put clothes on backwards, did it for years, so cute. Enjoy those young years, they are golden.
I’m growing a garden and tomatoes for the first time. I have 7 plants. 4 in a garden box, 3 in potes. Beefsteak, plum, cheery and grape tomato kind plants. I’m astonishing because all plants have produced a lot of tomatoes and so far all is going well. They are all starting to ripe now. I’m so excited for the next step. And of course to eat them. Came here to learn how to harvest tomatoes, and found your beautiful girl, so little but knowing already enough on how to harvest tomatoes. Adorable! And... what a beautiful and bounty tomato harvest you have there too! 🍅🍅🍅🍅
Luke, just have a question about growing tomatoes indoors for the winter. I only really like little tomatoes, which all seem to be indeterminate, when would be a good height to top them? Just based on height available or is there something else I should be looking for? Love the videos!
Luke, speaking of accidentally growing a determinate as an indeterminate: could you please get that distinction printed onto your tomato seed packets in your store? Also, label the beans as bush or pole bean? Thank you so much for everything you do ❤
Aww..She's the BEST helper: pick up the tomatoes, tells you that she loves you and give you kisses!!😍 What else you can ask for, she is simply adorable! ❤
HELP PLEASE . Oh my goodness. First time tomato grower in plastic pots ever. Never tried a garden at all. Was so proud of myself seeing in have 6 plants and a total of 22 growing. Unbelievable!! So bummed I have END ROT!!! What why?? I live in Arlington, Massachusetts. Just on the outskirts of Boston. We are called the Greater Boston area. Can I save them??? (Beef Steak) Also, what did I do wrong ??? I really was so excited 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Studies have shown that plants grow better when they grow near others of the same kind, i wonder if any of those tomatoes grew better because there were so many different varieties
Can’t wait to try the seeds I got from you. What a tomato harvest!!! They are all so beautiful, so is that sweet daughter you have!!! And you had some real honkers in there. Love all the different shapes and colors. Thanks for another great video!
We had so much rain in switzerland, so all of our tomatoes were destroyed over time by leafblight. Also my father bought grafted tomatoes for 100-150 Francs and we only harvested 1-2 Kilo. That was alot of frustration :( But alot of other things gave a good yield instead. Potatoes, bush beans, pole beans, garlic were all great. Really excited to harvest yacon for the first time in fall, cabbage, kidney beans and turnips. Great Videos, Greetings from Switzerland.
We are growing Genuine Heirlooms that are ridiculous. Great flavor, kind of thick skin but great producers. I have started three more plants using suckers from the first plant. We bought the plants for a dollar on a clearance rack. What a great deal. I am using 8' stakes like you and get all of these questions about them. Now that my plants are 6' tall no more questions.
I just grew the Tiffen Mennonite this year and was totally surprised, it's HUGE! It does take a while to ripen but I'm really surprised how well these are doing. I've been trying to grow large tomatoes for years, without any luck. I thought I was stuck to only being able to grow cherry tomatoes but these from your store have given me a renewed hope. I'm going to continue to try other varieties again, but this will be in my garden every year! Thank you for providing such a great tomato!
Your daughter is so lovely! Her voice is adorable. Thank you for telling the names of each varieties. This year was my first year of being serious about my garden, but I grew the wrong size of tomatoes. 🤦♀️ I have a ton of cherry sized, but wanted something bigger. I’ll pay attention more next year when I by my starts.
I am living my best tomato life vicariously through you whilst down here in Texas (8b) mine are d.o.n.e. Can’t wait to try some of the varieties next year that you showed me today! Hope you feel tip top in no time! 🍅 ❤️
Hi, Luke. Glad you are feeling a little better now. Yes, we missed you and your videos. Geneva saying she loves you was just priceless! Thank you for show-casing each of the tomato varieties. The new tomato variety for me this year is "Monster". Best wishes from Kate in Olympia, WA -- 8/14/2019.
I absolutely adore your enthusiasm!! I feel the same in the garden :) It's my happy place and I could just walk through admiring the beauty of it for hours. Have a good day MIgardener family.
What's the new update on the giant crimson ,do you have enough seeds yet and when do you think they will be available ? Oh and my favorite type of tomatoes are the small oval grape shaped dark orange super sweet tomatoes! I don't know the exact name but they are way sweeter than cherry tomatoes , they originate from southeast Asia Update : the name is orange santa grape tomato f1
She is so lovely! Luke, i could never grow nice tomatoes and gave this year my very last attempt. well, this has been the best year for my garden tomatoes ever. So far, I haven't been able wait for my tomatoes to fully ripen before i ate them. Hearing about all the tomatoes varieties and descriptions in this video are so informative and inspirational. I think I can actually grow some of these for next year! than you so much!
This is the first year that I got to try one of my purple cherokee tomatoes and they are by far my favorite to eat when it comes to texture and flavor. I grew them at my father's house last year but didn't seem to get a single tomato. Sometime around Christmas the family was chatting and I mentioned my disappointment that the plants didn't produce. Turns out: They did! My dad liked them so much he was going out and eating them like apples the second they ripened. This year I grew them at both my house and his so that I could taste one for myself.
Daddy. "I love you!" So sweet! Really great information about those tomatoes. Only just found you while beginning research on saving seeds. So glad I did!
Prayers for healing for your family! Thanks for the harvest video ! Gives me ideas for tomatoes I may want to try next season! My favorites I am harvesting this year are Cherokee Purple, Pineapple yellow, Dr. Wyche's , and a heirloom Roma. I didn't realize you hadn't uploaded in awhile....I've been watching all your older videos! 😬
OMGoodness!!! Your pretty pretty princess is beyond adorable! The tomatoes were great too, but your little girl is beautiful beyond belief. When she just out of the blue said "I love you"--it melted my heart completely!
Thnkx a bunch for this amazing video Luke. Just want to know if there is a possibility of those heirloom tomatoes to change due to some natural crossbreeding. If that happens, is it going to change the heirloom tomatoes characteristics completely ? Thnkx in advance
Oh your girl little is the most beautiful thing...I just dried my eyes ....remembering my little 2 year old eating all the snow peas out of the garden Thank you ..for the video and the memory
I would tell you to eat more veggies so you don't get sick but what you're probably have to do is to send Geneva off to school with veggies for all the kids in her class so they don't get sick and pass it on to you.
Geneva is by far the best thing you have ever grown, lol! Her tiny little voice is just adorable. As are your tomatoes. Are you going to be doing a taste test again? I'm searching for a rich old fashioned tomato flavor with a thin skin. Currently growing Rose De Berne (not thrilled with them) and Pink Lady (delicious flavor). I'm interested in seeing you slice into the Rutgers, the Tiffen Mennonite, the Cheboygan and especially the Rose. Is this taste test possible? Thank you!
