Extraordinarily talented vocalist! A true 80’s Pop icon. Sheena Easton doesn’t get close to the recognition that she deserves. Great interview! I would go as far to say, it’s the best interview I’ve seen with the artist.
So glad you feel that way. Sheena told me herself after we finished filming, that I gave her the best interview of her life!! That was so gratifying. Thank you so much for watching. I hope you will check out our other great interviews and consider subscribing to our RU-vid channel. 🙏❤️
Indeeed! I have never seen such a humble and authentic performer in my life! Thank you Sheena! Harvey, this is the first of your interviews that I’ve watched and WOW! what a spectacular job!!❤❤❤ I have subscribed for sure!
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 The interview was very well done, made me love her more. In fact, all of the interviewees seem very flattered by the degree of research that Harvey does about their lives and achievements. Really impressive channel.
Sheena deserves all the accolades love and success. Beautiful humble super talented. You named some of her hits but i dont think she put filler songs on any albums. So many hidden gems ......
Sheena is absolutely beautiful and brilliant. She has really lived the dream and continues to press on always challenging herself as a superstar vocalist and performer. I remember the day I first heard "For Your Eyes Only." Wow, it took my breath away. She's so humble in the interview and so special. Loved this Harvey.
Wow, Sheena Easton is an Absolute ICON, so great to see her now! I remember so clearly in 1980 I was 12 and in 6th grade, every morning on the school bus the radio played 'Morning Train' which put me in the absolute best mood every time I heard it (still does) and its so amazing to now be a 56 year old man and sitting hear listening to a current interview with Sheena.
So exciting to see Ms Easton. As a young man in my early 20's, I remember getting the "You Could Have Been With Me' album, yes album, and that cover with the stunning and beautiful Sheena Easton portrait had me already won over. Her voice, her range, and her emotions as she sang were breathtaking. The title song of that album is still one of my very favorite songs to enjoy. Hope she is still doing well and will continue to bring joy to us old-timers who love the music of the 70's and 80's.
Saw her in Vegas . She is great & she is wonderful! Great vocalist and beautiful songs! Had a #1 hit at an early age. Great vocalist."For Your Eyes Only" is the best Bond song ever!
Great interview - Sheena has a fantastic voice and was the perfect pop star in the 80’s. Very underrated imo - She’s had a long and varied career that is still going strong almost 45 years later
Another fantastic interview- Harvey keeps getting these great guests and rewarding us with in-depth, well-organized discussions. Have loved Sheena since the beginning, with her distinctive rendition of one of the all-time catchiest songs, " 9 to 5" / "Morning Train," which made everyone fans of her, leading to her major role in 1980's pop culture. Wonderful to see her so upbeat and looking incredible!
Ms. Sheena is All That! Love her! And I'm so happy to say I had the privilege of seeing her in concert at Daybreak on 8-23-2024, Sheena was Beyond Fabulous! And she was so funny, lovely and so much fun to see and hear; and her Band, Wow! Phenomenal!
A little late, but that was a terrific interview with Sheena. Boy I sure have been such a big fan of her since the 80s. I think I've listened to and watched Strut about a million times and the live version of The Lover in Me that she did on the Arsenio Hall Show back in the day I still constantly watch, it's an absolutely flawless performance. Along with all her other terrific work. So glad she is still performing and looking and sounding great. Thanks for such an insightful interview.
Harvey, Sheena was my favorite singer growing up and i was so excited to see your interview of her. Your interview was AMAZING. you meticulously research and are a wealth of knowledge about your guests. I know this because i have now watched around 5 of them so far. Your interviewing skills are TOP NOTCH. I love that even when it goes off topic and veers into another topic you even know about those items. Simply Amazing. Plus you are just adorable. If I wasn't married I would be all over you! Keep up the amazing work.
I’m immensely grateful for your beautiful comments about my interviewing style. That means the world to me. I appreciate you more than you can ever know. Thank you so much!!❌⭕️❤️
@DominicDionisi I am deeply touched, honored and humbled by your extremely kind and generous feedback about my interviewing style. You simply cannot imagine how much it means to me to have such supportive and loyal viewers. Thank you from my heart to yours!
A terrific interview and well deserved. Sheena is extremely talented and beautiful. ❤ And a brilliant business woman. Her accent is American with a tiny hint of Scottish.
I remember when Morning Train first came out! Bought several of her albums on cassette back in the 80s. Glad she is still around and performing. Thanks to you both for this excellent interview.
Thank you for wonderful interview❤ Sheena Easton has had great career, absolutely lovely voice. As a lifelong fan I am so happy she is still performing 🙏
I'm one of those fans from Glasgow who came down to London to see her in 2017. I met her after the show by the stage door of the theatre. She was warm and funny. I'd heard from someone who knew some of the cast that she was really liked, a mother type figure to the younger people performing with her. Great interview👏👏👏
Huge Sheena fan, have watched any and every interview i could ever find and you sir just recorded the best interview yet. Really brought out her wonderful humor which i enjoy almost as much as her voice. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your very kind feedback. Greatly appreciated. I hope you will check out our other great interviews and consider subscribing to our RU-vid channel. 🙏❤️
Awesome interview Harvey! It was terrific to see Sheena give such an in-depth interview and she looks great! I've loved her music since 1981 (buying the "Morning Train" on 45 vinyl and being hooked ever since). Thank you - this was so enjoyable!
The King of the Intro's does it again! Excellent interview. Your insights/research allows you to segue into easy yet complex question. Thanks for this interview. I used to have a crush on her (and Samantha fox, Vanity-RIP- and a host more). She's not old but if you can please interview Tracie Spencer!
There you go again, Mr Brownstone- showing what a difference an intelligent, engaged and appreciative interviewer can do to help us all appreciate an artist. I’m going to get a copy of Miss Easton’s album of standards!
What a beautiful thing you’ve said to me Timothy. I am deeply humbled and grateful by your incredibly kind support of my interviewing style. I appreciate you more than you can ever know 🙏❤️
Harvey - you’ve done it again. I can’t believe you chose Sheena Easton, who has beloved memories for me. Once again, your interview is warm, gently inquisitive with very special, selective and knowledgeable questions that bring out the best in your subject - and us as listeners. Your kindness and care balanced with a kind of sculpting is superb. That said, I once again have a little Sheena story. When I was 24 (do you hear Sinatra’s voice?) I went to a talent show with two male friends. As we sat there and I realized that one of the men was someone important to me, a woman came out and covered Sheena’s “When He Shines”, which was a perfect storm of time, place and content - almost presciently so - of this man I would love for a lifetime. (Worth hearing, touching ballad.) Sadly for me, we never got together, but that moment made an indelible mark, Sheena becoming a fixture of the ‘soundtrack of my life’. Were it not for your info and beautiful content, I would not know all of Sheena’s history, which is notable beyond my expectations. Even more beautiful, is her lovely, balanced personality. I don’t know when I’ve seen a celebrity, decades in the Biz, so anchored and serene. And you know how to bring out the hidden humanity and luster of your guests. That is quite a talent in itself!
Oh Ms Marple you really know how to give me goosebumps. I work so hard preparing these interviews, and when I receive beautiful feedback such as yours, it makes all my hard work so worth it. I appreciate you more than you can ever know. Thank you so much!!
What a really great interview! How right Sheena was to point out at the end how much research work the host and his team had done on her career to create a highly accurate, informative and penetrating interview, she was obviously impressed, honoured and grateful for that. As a fellow Scot exactly Sheena’s age, I can vouch that the description of the start of her career was accurate. Great questions and a lot of openness and honesty from Sheena, tons of rapport between the two. She still looks very pretty and it was lovely to see her laughing, happy and content. I didn’t see 42nd Street in London but I did see clips of Sheena in rehearsals, her voice was on top form as she powered her way through her numbers with the entire cast applauding her.
Really enjoyable interview! I’m British and she first came to my attention in the Big Time documentary mentioned in this interview, and it was great to see her career take off from there. Still enjoy listening to her music.
So glad she's getting recognition she deserves like Kim Carnes! She was written off as a pop tart in the 80's by critics but she made some great music! And so glad her back catalogue is getting rereleased in deluxe editions and coloured vinyl! Love you Sheena! xoxo
Phenomenal interview Harvey! Sheena Easton is my favorite songstress I still listen to her I saw her in Toronto in 1983 ( Thursday August 16) at Roy Thompson Hall I still have the concert ticket How are you Harvey? You look very suave and dapper I like the coral color of your T-shirt
I’m so happy you enjoyed this very special exclusive interview with a true legend. Thanks for watching. And thank you for your compliment on my new wardrobe. My management team felt it was time for me to modernize my onscreen look. The audience reaction has been mixed, so I really appreciate your support!❤️
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 It's a nice change for you Harvey instead of your usual shirt and tie Your smashing jacket compliments the color of your T-shirt
@richardswinbusk7787 thank you so much Richard. I was persuaded by my management team to “modernize” my onscreen wardrobe. Not everyone approves - the response has been about 75% pro and 25% con. So thanks for being on the pro side!
We all thought the sugar walls was goofy. But liked it.... great interview! So many ways she remindeds me of my mom. Great sensibility and a amazing talent....!
@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 thanks again. Yes mom passed recently and were both musicians mom a singer and me gtr.. we both liked sheena and pat benetar. I was into metal and pop and mom sang at the choir. And liked most all styles . Both from ny and the straight ahead outlook. Ive found a lot of sheena materials this year..a best of collection and a cd ive never heard yet called what comes naturally 2 week i found. And a magazine on Fri about prince with her in it. So im quite thrilled to find out today about the tour. I know mom and BOWIE would approve ... (!)
@markorendas1423 I am so happy you found our show. I hope you’ll check out our other great interviews and consider subscribing to our RU-vid channel. 🙏❤️
Remember that I went to see her Bond movie by myself because I didn’t want distractions from a date or friends. Was blown away by the opening because that was a first in the Bond genera.
What a treasure. What a talent, and career trajectory. I think, perhaps, those character attributes you intersperse in the interview - which have stood her in good stead - are in no small part a credit to her Scottish roots. I bought every album Prince released in the 1980s, and it was such a surprise seeing Sheena singing/performing 'You've got the Look' with him in 1987. Probably due to my age, I had no idea that the talent show winning, "wholesome" girl next-door, had achieved success in the United States. Just to add. I recall in the 1990s, my sister's American friend had somehow acquired the first Spice Girl's CD, and she sought permission with my sister before offering it to my five year old niece. She wasn't sure if it was "appropriate," and if my sister would approve. Lol. No disrespect to her, just that it signalled a cultural conservatism not at all prevalent in Britain.
Fabulous interview Harvey , please could you ask Sheena Easton if she has plans to come back to the UK for some show/gigs I would really like to see her live in London , Many thanks Gary X
How mega nice to see this interview only a few days after it appeared.. Sheena looks sensational!!! I’m just old enough and lucky enough to have witnessed the very beginnings of SE’s career on UK radio and television. A lot is made of the reality / talent show that kicked everything off but I personally remember the HUGE radio support Sheena got much more than the Esther TV show. Radio 1 (National) and Piccadilly Radio (Manchester) played her early singles on super heavy rotation so as a very young kid they were imprinted onto my memory for life.. I’m glad she feels that her home audience is still behind her and she should play up in Scotland asap, I’m sure it’d be very well received at a substantial venue, probably on multiple dates. Some UK music fans can be suspicious of any worldwide success that wasn’t expected or they feel some kind of sell out may be happening. That’ll always be the case here but I genuinely believe Sheena wouldn’t and shouldn’t suffer from such negativity. It’s time we got some tour dates here Ms Easton. The lovely Scottish accent is still there but it’s always good to take a trip home just to make it that tiny bit less mid-Atlantic. 😂😂😂 Best RU-vid clip I’ve watched in ages, thanks for posting, next job is to subscribe to the channel.. 😊
Okay, I'm officially jealous, Harvey.🙂 My 2 early "Loves"...first you talk with Ann-Margaret and now Sheena Easton. (I probably watched the video of "Sugar Walls" a bit too much 🤗) Great interview! It's obvious she was comfortable with you....very conversational. What a class act she is. A go to song for me, when I was going through a young break-up, was her "You Could Have Been With Me." What a sweet lady. You can't fake that. I give this interview a big 👍👍up! Thank you! God bless!
Awwww my friend your message really touched my heart. All through law school I was desperately in love with my beat friend, a straight guy. He never knew it of course, but being the best man at his wedding was one of the toughest things I ever had to get through. (I know that sounds stupid but it’s really how I felt at the time.). Sheens’s song “You Could Have Been With Me” was all I listened to. So believe me I relate to your story. It was a great thrill having Sheena on our show and since then she’s become a dear friend. I started our show to get the chance to befriend the celebrities I idolized, and I am in shock that it’s happening!!! Thanks for watching, and for your support of our show. 🙏❤️
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 Not in the least bit stupid, brother. Those heartcrushes run deep! She sure had the perfect song for us.☺ She must have experienced it herself. The emotion in her performance on that record...reached right out and under the skin. I'm so glad you're getting an opportunity to live your dream. You're sure a boss at it! I can see why you and Sheena would be pals beyond the interview. Like I said, it was very conversational. God bless you, Harvey! Keep up the great work. 💖
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 We were in the second row, and saw all the blowing kisses to various folks in various seats. :-) It's the perfect venue for that type of bonding between audience and performer. I have friends who have performed on that stage, and miss the days when those particular bands could play there.. now they're too big and would end up over at the OLG stage. * sigh * :-)
I love her. Why did she end her Top 40 career so soon? Her last major label studio album bombed, but she would have quickly come back from that if she had kept going. I was very disappointed when she stopped. She was a knockout in her prime, and her voice was so pretty.
@darylweinbrandt62 oh darn!! I would likely have been fired if it were me!! You’re way more professional than me!! I’m too star struck to have lasted very long in your job.
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 you got my vote! I’m working harder already because I got two big celebrities in June and I’m going to do what you do. Because you’re a success, my friend.
No new album since 2001 "Fabulous" which has the remake of the Thelma Houston's 1977 song "Don't Leave Me This Way". Also Easton did a song called "Don't Leave Me This Way" (from 1983 "Best Kept Secret" album) but that is a different song.
@@harveybrownstoneinterviews8980 Isn't that true? I love Sheena's version of that song. I have all her records and have been a fan since Four Your Eyes Only. When I saw Sheena in the 007 movie opening I fell in love with her music.
I get it but her voice has changed it is lower raspier but still her voice. She has certainly lowered her keys but personally I love the raspinezs and mitchuruty in her vocals. And her version of for your eyes only now is much more poignant now
Sugar Walls Not for Kids. I mean tell the kids it’s something you take to drive the pain away. I mean really? I remember doing a routine to the song with my Dance Act . I remember performing it on a cable show in Manhattan.
He was a little bit _too_ obsequious in his line of questioning (something Easton picked up on), but I do understand that you have soften them up in order to keep them on the line: doing a full-on Paxman-Humphrys-style cross-examination doesn't work with celebrities (as Krishnan Guru-Murthy found out); they'll just up and leave. If you listened to the second half of that interview without knowing who she was, you would have had no idea that she came from Scotland.
What a wonderful, heartfelt interview. Beautiful person and incredible talent! It's amazing you told her how good No String was! She needs to record more jazz and standards! She should team up with producer Michael C Ross who's an incredible talent ( www.youtube.com/@recordingadventuresmichael5990 )
