Hey I might be able to watch you and the gang tonight after all my house has power again Yaya! I might watch two nwp episodes tonight and maybe may watch the races and a half I missed in recent weeks. I feel much better now.
"NASCAR may bring their next street race to a city near you" *Me watching, who lively in rural Utah* "Oh boy I can't wait to watch NASCAR race on the streets of Provo!!!"
When are we going to realize when she was with Joe Williams as her crew chief she ran between 15th and 20th most races and then when Joe got fired her best finish was 25th
If a driver is going to race on Road Courses for several years and still not know what wheel hop is, or how to overcome it. They have learned nothing in all that time. Except how to have an orgasm
i was talking to my friends a few years ago about what they should do with deegan and i said they should keep her in arca for 2 years, trucks for 3, with a few xfinity starts sprinkled in, then maybe if she was ready start talking about an xfinity ride. I genuinely think ford’s development program getting decapitated caused her development to be even more rushed. it took her all of 2 years after signing with ford to start getting xfinity starts and another two to be full time in the series. idk how they thought that’d be successful.
He’s absolutely right. The last drivers who have been ford guys for the long haul have been ironically enough the last two BKR drivers (Cindric and Briscoe). It seems when Brad Keselowski Racing went under, Ford kinda stopped caring about Xfinity and Truck development. Literally TWO TEAMS has an Xfinity or Truck program, Haas and Front Row, and I’ll give Front Row credit because they seem to care about development as seen with Todd Gilliland, Zane Smith and right now with Layne Riggs (who may have worse luck than his dad), but they may want to consider an Xfinity program to further development. I know Todd proved that Xfinity isn’t necessarily required but it still might be a good idea for them.
@@jaxonjaxoff3291 no shit Sherlock, but then your rant specifically talked about Ford's lack of "development" teams in Trucks and Xfinity! ...so I pointed out Ford helps the Siegs, with all 4 teams. BTW, ThorSport Ford Trucks, as with all manufacturers, only have one unique spot that is Ford specific, that is the front grill area that Ford engineers helped design. Otherwise all the bodies are the same, all the frames and suspensions are the same, and all the engines are the same.
Where she went wrong was not willing to put the work in by coming up through the ranks getting the experience she needed. She bought her way in and it showed. And now rumor is she is trying to buy her way in the Indy series
@@AllanSmith859not counting driving her dad's hand me down stadium trucks, which were the lower division, her actual start in stock cars was in Late Models, with Toyota sponsorship, at Toyota sponsored Irwindale Speedway, driving one of the four identically prepared house cars, which she had trouble even turning left.
I think a SoCal street race should be the top priority if there are no other suitable tracks in the region. It’s too big of a market to not go to. Could be Long Beach, could be somewhere else. The second largest metro area in the country deserves a track closer than 4 hours away, especially a region with such a strong car culture and so many drivers hailing from there.
Ford's problem with the truck series is a lack of seats. Thorsport has 3 of their drivers locked in, which means that Ford essentially has 2 trucks for prospects to go and be in seriously competitive equipment
I’m from Pittsburgh and recently I’ve been making a couple fun little layouts on google maps for a potential street race. Something worth noting is that we already have a street race called the Vintage Grand Prix. It takes place in Schenley Park every year. It’s not downtown but it’s right there. That also might be better logistically so the streets downtown don’t have to shut down. I’ve made a couple fictional layouts for downtown too. It’s super fun to dream that stuff up for your city lol.
Feds wouldn't allow shutdown of Parkway West for that; but you're correct, would be interesting. Schenley Park would need lots of work for INDYCAR, NASCAR, or any other higher-speed series. Too much to make it worthwhile. The idea is intriguing, nonetheless.
My prediction is because Hailie still has the ties to ford and she is running the Trans Am All Star race this weekend, she will make a switch to Sports Cars/Endurance racing. Ford just brought the Mustang to GT3 and has the GT4 program as well. So I could see her making a full time switch to IMSA.
@@EricEstepp I feel like they’ve been low on the resources necessary to be competitive every week I mean they’re out of the old Ganassi shop They wanna be bigger in NASCAR than Chip ever was
That team worries me with their lack of technical depth, where are they gonna develop crew chiefs and engineers? They have more drivers than cars and they surely can't keep loaning young drivers out to other teams forever, they're gonna need to start an in-house Xfinity or truck team
@@CKYmotovery fair point of view. Its true they need to develop there drivers in-house instead of risking the chance of them being loaned and building programs elsewhere.
@@ffr8186 Nah. As a native to the region, Mardi Gras may SEEM like a good idea: its not. Everyone is over at parades, it would interfere with the Daytona 500 and its still a little cold. I would think a mid April or late September would be perfect
@@meep05 It definitely does interfere with the 500 in some years, but not all. I think they could integrate well in some respects with the parades, but I’ll defer to you. You’d know better than me.
Eric....many years ago, IndyCar raced on the streets of Denver. It was a world class clusterflop. If NASCAR does decide to go to Denver, racing through Lower Downtown Denver would be spectacular. Racing by Coors Field, Ball Arena and Empower Field at Mile High. Plus the mountains....you get it.
I agree with Harvick. With what has happened in the last 5 years for Hailie, once she left Toyota to go to Ford, it was all downhill from there. Look, both are good to a certain extent, but here are the number of teams for each manufacturer (and which ones are successful): All the Ford Teams in the NASCAR Cup Series (Successful teams are towards the top of the list) - 1. Team Penske 2. RFK Racing 3. Front Row Motorsports 4. Stewart-Haas Racing 5. Rick Ware Racing 6. Wood Brothers Racing All the Ford Teams in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (Successful teams are towards the top of the list) - 1. Stewart-Haas Racing 2. RSS Racing 3. AM Racing All the Ford Teams in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (Successful teams are towards the top of the list) - 1. Thorsport Racing 2. Front Row Motorsports 3. Reaume Brothers Racing Total - 12 Teams All the Toyota in the NASCAR Cup Series (Successful teams are towards the top of the list) - 1. Joe Gibbs Racing 2. 23XI Racing 3. Legacy Motor Club All the Toyota in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (Successful teams are towards the top of the list) - 1. Joe Gibbs Racing 2. Sam Hunt Racing All the Toyota in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (Successful teams are towards the top of the list) - 1. TRICON Garage 2. Halmar Friesen Racing 3. Hill Motorsports Total - 8 Teams Despite Ford having 6 Top-Tier Teams, 2 Mid-Tier Teams, and 4 Lower-Tier Teams in all three series, the performances of the teams don't always live up to the expectations. In contrast, Toyota has 4 Top-Tier Teams, 2 or 3 Mid-Tier Teams, and 1 Lower-Tier Team in all three series, which is distributed better for fewer teams that've performed better than expectations over the last 5 years. Such teams like Halmar Friesen Racing and Hill Motorsports in the Truck Series are good examples, despite having limited resources and funding at times.
I think I'll accept Harvick's evaluation. He actually knows the various systems, what they offer and what Deegan needed to succeed. No one reading or writing this really has any idea how a specific driver development program operates internally. Being Ford's prime focus might just have been the problem. Being one of many at Toyota might well have given her the time she needed to develop.
What she said is very true; at Toyota she was, “Just one of the crowd” as if she should have been special at age 18. Success takes talent, hard work, patience and some luck (most of which we make based upon our attitude and decision-making). Given her marketability she would have received that attention when it was time. Harvick is 💯!
What people that only follow Nascar don’t realize is her dad has had a relationship with Ford for over 10 years and that likely was a major reason in her switching to Ford. Brian has raced Ford in Rallycross and his off-road racing trucks ran Ford motors
For street courses out of Chicago I think would be interesting would be Denver, Salt Lake City, Houston or San Antonio, Minneapolis/St.Paul, Long Beach, Cleveland or Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Portland, Boston. Just a few I think would be interesting.
As someone who lives just outside of Pittsburgh I say HELL YES to that idea. Little known fact for the crowd, there was once plans to construct the first indoor nascar track in the Pittsburgh area. The plans were later abandoned as they lost funding. Not to mention it would have had to have been massive it probably would have been impossible/unfeasible. I believe there is an article about it on jayski.
But colorado also has pikes peak international raceway I want to see nascar race their with the cup and xfinity cars, I know xfinity raced there years ago!
Never say never it took how long to finally race in hollow grounds of Indianapolis 500. And California is a huge market for Nascar and still hoping one day that they can come and race in The Streets of Long Beach. Congrats to Trackhouse and Avenue Sports Fund on teaming up.
The city of Sausalito in Northern California just North of San Francisco, probably would never agree to it, but when I have driven around that town, there is a left hand tun one makes when coming down from the hills, that has you driving right along the Pacific Ocean and it always reminded me of Monaco and that street course. Despite the improbability - that would be awesome! B-NASCAR FAN-Gardner
Ford has only two championship-caliber Xfinity cars, both with family-funded drivers, and has had this situation for years. They’ve all but resigned themselves to just poaching drivers developed by Chevy and Toyota when they get to the Cup level.
NASCAR is merely a billionaire hobby for Ford Motor Company, they haven't taken NASCAR seriously since the 1969 season because Ford is a truck and van manufacturer and their car garbage is merely a side hustle.
Rain on the 4th of July is pretty common in the DC area. In the last 20+ years, it's rained on the day every year but 2-3 times. Chicago is no different because it has a huge body of water next to the lake. Denver would be cool! I was there in the early 90's for an Indy Street race. But to be greedy... I'd like to see a NASCAR race on VIR someday...
@@blakeandrews9496Yeah. And she's no longer in NASCAR. Just goes to show you that women in motorsports often are not hired based on merit, but rather because they are a marketing item and nothing more.
I think New York would make a really good location. Not only are there plenty of possible layouts, but with it being the most populated city in the country, it would put NASCAR in front of a truly massive audience who largely doesn't know much about the sport.
Seattle for a street race might be worse than Chicago for weather so you'd have to just plan on racing in the rain. However the ups and downs in downtown would make for a very interesting course. Downtown Scottsdale AZ would be cool because that city is built like a grid with wide streets so you could go almost anywhere with that. Just plan on either beginning or late in the season for it to not be overly hot.
This is absolutely true: of all racecar drivers trying to make it from amateur to professional, 99% don't make it, for a variety of reasons. Deegan's case is the norm.
I had a wild thought about Chicago. As a Chicagoan, I love the street race but also hope they would return to Chicagoland. Why not make Chicago a back to back weekend race on the schedule, and the plot twist is you must use the same car both weekends (unless deemed a total loss after a result in the street race, they may go to the backup at Chicagoland). Best part about this is, as soon as the Street Race is done, the teams may haul up and head down to Joliet where they’ll stay at the track all week. Practice is available everyday for 20 minute sessions and there will be at track entertainment all week long.
I've jokingly tossed around that Churchill Downs needs to pursue a mixed surface event with half the course running around the dirt there so that fans can enjoy grandstand seating and the other half racing around Central Ave, some of which I presume is still visible from the grandstands. Thought came to me during the derby festival and how much of the streets they manage to shut down for that. Of course I just want an 'easy' race to go to after all lol no idea how feasible that would even be.
It'd be interesting to use street course races to fill gaps while major tracks get redesigned or repaved. CMS is renovating? Welcome to the Charlotte Street Course!!
That's basically why Atlanta Motor Speedway has hosted exactly one IMSA GT race; Road Atlanta went bankrupt, changed hands, and underwent a repave in 1993.
big into nascar from the pittsburgh area and its unfortunate that there isn't a cup series race closer than 4 hours away. i would DEFINITELY attend a nascar street race and i think there's a good market for it too.
Omg thank you for saying Pittsburgh. I’m moving there next week and yeah, it’s not close to any tracks, nor is my current home which is two hours south east of Pittsburgh. Would love to have a Cup race within 2 hours of here. Would especially love to watch it IN Pittsburgh.
Chicago is so nicely laid out along the lakefront. And the city did so much better this year with prep work and not closing down the main streets until the week of/ before the race.
There’s a city that has hosted a street race with Champ Car used to race at in the 90s that is in a starving area for Motorsport in general, that city is Vancouver, BC
Houston! By far, the biggest market that has been neglected by NASCAR. It makes perfect sense to find a date to finally give H-Town a glimpse of NASCAR.
One city that would be crucial (If they could) would be Boston Massachusetts. All the fans up here in the Northeast truly are die hard NASCAR fans and I would love to see them race through Boston. Maybe similar to the proposed Indy layout that was released years ago. NASCAR needs to see how valuable the North East really is for stock car racing.
As a mexican who loves nascar,I would like a nascar cup event in mexico city or puebla. I will like that, the last time the top 3 nascar series comes to Mexican land was Xfinity from 2005 to 2008.
Seattle makes a lot of sense for a street race. Denver as well. The other one I could see is Houston. They once had an indy car street race. it would have to be early in the season or at the end due to the heat
Drivers are usually required by Toyota TRD to pay a fee in relation to becoming a part of their development group. An amount extending from $100,000 to $1,000,000. Although it could be reasoned, that it depends on what comes with the deal and value for money in return.
NASCAR and Goodyear should do a race in Akron by the world headquarters. They have a nice private road that runs through in front with a straightaway I have seen cars hit triple digits drag racing on weekends. Run right down from the plant to HQ and back around to building 3 sweet little track could be made.
I think Toronto will have a NASCAR street race. They already do an IndyCar street race accompanied by other series. Plus Toronto is an international market with a large population
Pittsburgh would be my pick for the reasons you said. My bias pick would one of the 3 Cs in Ohio. Cleveland and Columbus have history running street (in Cleveland's case, airport) circuits, and Cincy would offer similar stunning views/interesting layout like Pitt.
Montreal track is the best built street track for this type of NASCAR chassis. Plus they have the knowledge on putting out huge events (320000 fans coming in the Montreal GP weekend)
Could we get the Xfinity Series (or even Cup) to race on the Toronto street course? They already set it up for the Honda Indy, and the NASCAR Canada Series has raced it a few times. I’m still annoyed that the Trucks no longer race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. It’s a great road course, up there with the likes of Watkins Glen in my opinion, at least as far as the on-track product is concerned.
I wish there was more opportunities in the Seattle area. We do have a 5/8 track at Evergreen Speedway that hosts the biggest stuff around, like this weekend, so I know we have fans up here. Just a long way from North Carolina. Although I heard we have some late models coming from NC this weekend.
The greater Pittsburgh area might be big but the actual downtown part of the city like Chicago is tiny. They have the most bridges of any city, so I’d love to see them use a bridge somehow. Lived there for years. Now I’m in Ohio, I’d love to be back for a race.
Come on Harvick, she was with Thorsport. How many championships do they have? More than Harvick. Toyota development system? Wlhen the need a Cup driver for the #19 they go hire a Ford driver. So much for thier development system. I'm a Deegan fan but she has pretty much shown what she can do.
Thorsport isn’t a top team anymore even when hallie was there Ben Rhodes was carrying the team! it seems like tricon and mackanelli are the top nascar truck teams now!
Pittsburgh would be awesome. The Nashville street course goes over one bridge. Here they can go over a handful of them and some tunnels, too. Where can I get my tickets? Besides Denver had a race on South Park. Remember the Vagisil car?
Please a street race in Denver 🙏 Not just because I live there but also the closest track is Kansas, Vegas, or Phoenix which all 8+ hour drive away, and anyone north of us its even further. It would fill a huge hole in the center of the country where there is no major racing to go to. IMSA or indycar double would be amazing.
Even though they went to the LA Coliseum with Auto Club being a couple hours away. Curious how Sonoma would feel if a street race was held in San Francisco.
DC, check out how wide independence avenue is, and having the Capitol in the background... the retractable barriers would create interesting bumps too 😂
I would say NYC, Seattle, San Diego/LA, Boston, Denver, Salt Lake City, Albuquerque, El Paso, New Orleans, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, or Columbus would all be good options. I'm biased towards Columbus, so I would personally go with Columbus.
If we have a street course area in the Mountain Time Zone, the Wyobraska market is available, and I'd love to have one in or near Scottsbluff, Nebraska. But if we do go to Denver, then call it the Furniture Row Grand Prix.
I've wondered about Tulsa, Oklahoma or maybe Minneapolis, Minnesota. There was once a design for Boston, which would be a huge market so it would make sense.
I can't blame her for going to Ford since Toyota was crowded but she was rushed into going to ARCA Trucks and Xfinity. Especially with ARCA and Xfinity if she had more ARCA seat time before going to Trucks then she might have been better off.
Toronto perhaps if NASCAR were to run there with Indy again as the Canada series races there some years when it's set up for Indy? It would be this coming weekend so when it comes to scheduling who knows how or if it would work out for one of the big series to race there alongside Indy and perhaps the Canada series?
8:34 was a sprint podium but still impressive especially when you factor in they’re running last years bike instead of the new Aprilla bikes, I also hope they invest into their MotoGP program bc as an American watching MotoGP I do get a sense of pride watching the Stars and Striped bikes making their way thru the field plus hopefully Joe Roberts(Californian) will be the sole American in motogp
