@@sandman8993 you’d be surprised how often the decision is made to go with American voice acting to ensure it doesn’t alienate the American market. ‘Thunderbirds’ and pretty much all the GTA games are examples of this.
i think you missed the point, those uncomfortable jokes were uncomfortable back then, its what made them funny just like watching mell brooks, have you seen blazing saddles? one of my favorite comedies of all time
There is no point to miss. This game has a very limited audience. Both the game part and the story is awful. Of course, all that is an opinion. But this is not going to leave cult status
@Super Mario Fan well GameXplain is woke. People are right to say that. But the actual audience for this is limited nonetheless. If you can complain about Family Guy being less funny than before, this game should be subject to similar criticism.
The jokes didn't fly back then either. I remember people doing an absolute shitstorm over the game. Parents wanted to take the game off the shelves. The suicide and sex stuff was off the charts in the past and honestly I'd love to see such an offensive game now. I have no idea why people draw the line somewhere after the killing. Murders, war, school shottings etc. but somehow every movie has guns and headshots. It's just that everyone tries to fake a facade of being a morally right person that is always opposed to the "wrong" stuff. I bet that 90% of the audience would laugh at the offensive jokes if they were sure no one's watching them.
@@DuranmanX True, but a joke being very dark doesn't make it evil or anything. It's easy to get angry at a joke and act like you saved a life. I was a volunteer in a hospice for years and we used to joke about everything but it had nothing to do with real life. You'd think there were tons of people to help those in need, but nope, they're on the internet arguing but I've never seen a single young person actually be there to make a change.
It's a pitty that the remake is not included in rare replay. I know a lot of people don't enjoy the graphic style or the mild censorship of curse words. But it fixed a lot of the gameplay issues so a modern audience would likely prefer it, like giving it proper aiming with two analog sticks. I'm not saying that it should replace of the original, I'm saying that we should have both. But I guess I cannot be really mad about it, since it is available to purchase from the store, I just want conker to have more exposure overall.
I don't care what anybody thinks I think it was a masterpiece in my eyes it was too good, and having it when it came out when I was ten. looking back now yeah it was that good of a game. Too good that's why I believe it was a masterpiece.
That's so strange that the rare replay version doesn't just lift the controls from Live & Reloaded. Like I get that it's just an up-res port of the OG game, but why on earth did they make the right stick move and the left stick aim?
@@chuckbatmangaming or put live and reloaded instead (with an option to disable censorship or to match the n64 version, i dont think it would be that hard)
@@Saturn185 oh most people I know bought it like most buy CoD. Beat the campaign and then abuse the multiplayer. CBFD had some of the best multiplayer that generation
@@supersaiyanbro Conker Live and Reloaded single player is a remake of the 2001 game Conker's Bad Fur Day for the Nintendo 64. Rare was never the same after acquired by MS
@@RKO1988 Dude, if the original devs behind the original game said themselves that something like that will never ever happen again then nobody can make a proper sequel without it feeling forced. Why can't we appreciate what we got and jst get over it? Fans do make things worse.
Conker Live and Reloaded is such an underappreciated remake. The improvements to the controls, graphics, and some of the missions are more than worth the extra swear words being censored
I know right it's not freaking offensive ffs. Blacks weren't the only one hung like Jesus Christ thousands and thousands of people around the world were hung. I'm so sick of the first thing people think about seeing a nuse is stupid black people ffs wow grow up.
You can make edgy jokes. It’s just not such a great idea to make edgy jokes that could hurt people who have gone through emotional trauma, with stuff like sexual assault.
I remember playing this when I was 5 years old. One day I was playing and my parents found out there was breasts on the sunflower and they took the game away from me (they were unaware it was a mature game) 😂
I can’t see how anyone could be offended by any jokes in this. They’re all too good. Hell, I knew people who ended up committed suicide over the years & that joke still doesn’t bother me in Conker 🤷🏻♂️
He should not of complained about being offended. But GameXplain are Anita Sarkeesian supporters. My initial point remains that this game is unfunny regardless
Humor and sensitivity will always be subjective of course and often, paradoxical. I, too, cringed a lot at the joke with the male and female cogs, but then I think the moment you brutally murder a newborn baby that mistakes you for its parent is much, much worse but doesn't seem to have offended you. Also, I think it's important to bear in mind that the entire game depicts Conker as a horrible psychopath, not someone the player should identify with.
According to the VA of Conker, he lost his interest in the character and he's now more interested in other things. He also said that he don't think making a sequel will end well nowadays. That's why the franchise died.
Good review. Although I've got to say, you playing a sort of pseudo moral compass for whats funny in 2021 etc. Wears thin. Who are you to tell anyone what is and isn't ok to laugh at in a video game regardless of age and context? Personally, I don't love every joke in the game. But I know that someone, somewhere else does. I thought the pitchfork trying to hang himself was funny. Because its impossible for him to do it, that's the whole joke! There's nothing deeper going on to be especially offended by. Taste in humour doesn't count.
Funnily enough - I used to agree with people like this reviewer a good few years back until I started to (mostly) avoid politics for a lot of valid reasons. Anyways, back then I ended up just seeing leftist-slanted articles/videos on my social media feeds without any counter views to help balance it out. I then saw absolute gutter 'journalists' who were now deciding to label our favourite media such as films/video games & even books that were published more than 10/15 years ago being branded as 'racist', 'sexist' & whatever flavour of the month was on their agenda menu lol. But...seriously, I am actually sick of them getting massive amounts of attention and then them feeding the masses over 'views' being shouted by a very small, vocal minority. Hopefully the pendulum shifts back towards the centre in the future like it was before the 2010's!
9:00 - "Personally, I don't enjoy the offensive parts of the game as much as I do the absurdly violent ones." Uh, that's actually a very alarming thing to say.
Nothing wrong with any of the humour, all the jokes and characters were amazing :D The multiplayer was one of the best on the system and was played by only like 70 people . Needs alot more attention really.
What a great game for it's time I remember playing it when I was 10 or 11 at a friend's house it was the first game I bought complete on ebay when I got a job after finishing high School still own it and I played it recently too :)
For me its one of my favourite N64, Rareware and overall games of all time. Wish the sequal never got cancelled but at least Live and Reloaded was good.
If Conker does come back, he absolutely HAS to be even more offensive, specially in today's society where people keep getting offended by the stupidest things
@@ZeldagigafanMatthew So simulating animal cruelty and torture through cartoon characters is "perverse pleasure," but "perverted" jokes by said cartoon characters are "still a huge problem." I had no idea this was such a stain on society moral. we should cancel anybody who makes jokes about fellatio, then. Lol. Aight, I guess
@@retrojohnny1899 Meh. It's always been like this throughout history. For instance, the simpsons was once considered controversial when it first aired. Nowadays, the old simpsons would be considered mostly harmless.
Difficulty spikes galore! The swimming part with slicing blades, the bazooka hell that was leaving the war level & the final boss. As for the corridor shooting in the war level, I found it easiest to be aiming down sights the entire time. Not to be that guy, but playing it on original hardware might be interesting to see the rougher, warts & all version of the game.
When they remastered the game for Xbox, they fixed a lot of the camera issues. I'm talking Conker Live and Reloaded for those of you that only played the classic.
CBFD hold's up in some areas, breaks new ground, and also falls short in others. Playing this on Rare Replay, it looks and sounds great and controls well. However, the voice work can be extremely slow and tedious, plus some sections grind to an anger inducing halt. Objectives can be vague, convoluted, and/or difficult to accomplish. I often had to fight with the game to make things happen. That being said, the game is quite easy, with plenty of health pickups. Game overs can be annoying, but don't force you back very far, making them effectively meaningless. Overall, it's worth a playthrough and I would recommend it. I might even buy Live and Reloaded. 🎮👍
Dark humour is, and always will be, dark humour. If you didn't like it then, you'd probably won't like it now. I'd rather you said you didn't find it funny because its what you decided wasn't funny, as opposed to it being 2021. Shit is still funny to me.
This is seriously one of the best games ever made . Up there with ocarina of time and anything else you want to put . Nintendo needs to put this out on switch online .
The game was exactly what one made by young Brits set loose at the end of the nineties should have been :) The multiplayer doesn't get enough praise either. Up there with GoldenEye and Super Smash Bros. I think.
Conkers Bad Fur Day was and still is a masterpiece for the N64 even over 20 years later. Underrated at its time of release. Still to this day of 2022 highly collectable and sought after by many collectors. No surprise Conker's Bad Fur Day sells for over $125 just for the cartridge to over $300 complete in box.
Omg this game fully holds up. The 64 already set itself apart from the competition graphically but this game really felt closer to the dreamcast than the previous gen
@@CatchingZzs I mean playing on Rare Reply is great. On an N64 on the wrong tv ain't so good but I think the visuals hold up especially compared to games from other consoles of the time and most N64 games. Plus the core gameplay and level design is pretty damn good
Cronker: All I wanted is to have my game to be Child Friendly but I only gets adult stuff whyyyyy 😫 Scorpion: I agreed with you cronker because in MK9 All of the ladies gets to wear a Adult suit...Weird right Cronker: Wow I’m not the only one who experience this Scorpion: Yep
My parents would not buy this game for me, so I had to rent it week after week from Blockbuster until the dude finally let me keep it, i was 13 years old. If my parents had found out, we'd both be in big trouble lol
Forgetting the absolute best part of the game was the multiplayer modes on the N64, I have fond memories of playing it with my friends at their house. Some of the most fun console multiplayer I've ever played, such a huge variety of weapons. Always loved running up on my friends with the chainsaw and slicing them in half one shot or flipping around with the katana like a ninja ready for a decapitation.
I still can’t believe this bloody mature shit fuck of a game was on a Nintendo Console, Rare really did go all out with a Bang on the N64. I really miss when Rare and Nintendo had a relationship. Rare is responsible for giving DK a glowup with the Country series after the Arcade games, and many more things which helped Nintendo with their successes. Dinosaur Planet recently got leaked and if you didn’t know it’s what Starfox Adventures was originally going to be with no Starfox brand on it, it would be Rare’s parting gift with Nintendo before being bought buy Microsoft. Rare support for the GameCube and Wii would’ve been Legendary!
Rare might not forget Conker. But they're not going to make another game with them. They wanna look forward with different IPs. Our only luck would be if Rare gave another developer their blessing like with Killer Instinct and Battletoads
The controls for the shooting were pretty easy on the N64 controllers. So obviously if you're playing on a new gen that hasn't aged well. N64 you just look down the sight and use the C buttons to move without getting out of the "sight" view. Very simple. Just went back and played this on the N64 👌👌
there's a 7 hour long walk through of this game. I would watch it 3 times in a row before i play the rare replay version again. even when the game made a joke that i found funny, i would never laugh because i was so pissed off about the controls.
I played through this game once and enjoyed it for what it was. But what REALLY made it fun was the multiplayer. My friends and I could play the Normandy multiplayer map for hours. Not sure how that holds up anymore though.
Its only “offensive” to those who don’t have bigger things to worry about in life or make those topics their personality so they are always the center of attention
Conker deserves better and If Banjo and Kazooie can make It Into Smash Bros I don't see why not for the next game or announce a full new deal and title!
@@danieats, Sakurai is very clever when it comes to putting in video game characters in smash bros from Mature games. As raunchy as Bayonetta is (she pretty much strips almost half baked with some of her attacks), there is nothing stopping Conker from making the cut. They don't have to take away from what makes Conker " _Conker The Squirrel_ ", and besides, Conker doesn't swear AT ALL. I don't know how his moveset would work in smash bros ultimate, but I do know this, he most definitely has a moveset that Sakurai can incorporate into the game without devaluing Conker as a character. Sakurai is a man that strives for perfection, so if Nintendo picked Conker to be in this fighters pass, then you can best believe that Sakurai is putting in his best effort with this character, 100%👍.
@@picolete, You could argue that the Ice Climbers shouldn't be in Super Smash Bros Ultimate or in the franchise at all, simply because they've only had ONE game release in their entire franchise, which didn't sell well at all either, but guess what? That didn't stop Sakurai from putting them into the game. All that is, is just another fan-made rule. Marina Lightyear from Mischief Makers N64, Juno and/or Vela from Jet Force Gemini N64, and Glover from Glover N64 has just about a good likelihood of getting into smash bros as Conker does.
I played this and L&R back to back last year, and if I had to pick, as much as I loved the original, the remake is my preferred version to play! It definitely plays better, and the Zombies section is so much more fun with twin stick shooter controls.
