Has Merit done it again? Or not...? (NEW Merit Signature Matte Lipsticks) 

The colors are so nuanced. I love that. It’s basic but sophisticated. Totally my jam. Annddd …..there goes my no buy! I’m calling it a low buy now. Executive decision. 😅

I just with Merit wasnt so awful with customer service and didnt prey on smaller creators to create endless free content for them whilst promising paid opportunities

I was going to purchase but after watching Wayne Goss experience with them, i won’t be buying.

How do they compare to the Lisa Eldridge velvet formula?

Maison looks beautiful on you! I ended up returning Maison because it just looked light brown on me (pale and cool toned). I am praying they release more cool toned colours that are not light pinks. Give me a matte berry! I beg you, Merit!

Wayne Goss just posted a video about Merit. Check it out. It's gonna be a no for me for anything Merit for the foreseeable future. Two thumbs WAY down.

I just got Classic and court and love them, Merit is amazing.

So I just saw the Wayne Goss video he posted after yours went up. Now what he says has absolutely no impact on the validity of what you report. But ouch. I hope this brand smartens up on its customer service.

Sadly I’ve learned that as much as I love mattes on others, I only like them on myself if they are in bold or deep colors. So while I may check out vermillion, I selfishly wish Court, Maison, and Classic were part of the satin line! (Though I also think it’s really smart of Merit to limit the number of shades they have-makes each one seem special and iconic).

I hope people in the comments realize that Amanda would have likely had no idea what had happened with Merit and Wayne Goss before this video went live. And her thoughts on the new products are still valid and useful info despite their appalling customer service (not just with Wayne, either--if you look at trustpilot reviews, you'll see others reporting similar interactions to Wayne). It's a shame for me because their complexion stick is one of the few face products I'm not allergic to, but I don't think I want to buy it again now.

I just can’t go back to matte… I’m not ready. I’m still haunted by Colourpop ultra matte liquid lipstick crackling off my lips like old paint. Maybe someday I’ll brave a more elegant and updated matte formula, the same day I pull out my old skinny jeans :)

The fact that just about every content creator is praising Merit ad nauseam has turned me off to the whole brand. Earth-toned make up is not new and i doubt their formula is so exceptional...I will just use whatever makeup I have in those tones.

I'd love it if someone compared the original Merit formula to the L’Oréal Les Nus lipsticks. I only swatched them, but they felt very similar.

I’ll never order from Merit after seeing Wayne Goss’ video re their customer care. I was just about to make my first order. That being said, thank you as always for your thorough review! It really does make a huge difference and you are a wonderful vreator, one of my faves!

I’m over Merit and the way they handled the Wayne Goss incident. I can see what he was talking about they were hearting the most ignorant comments. All set there’s plenty of brands who makes blotted lips I’ll buy k beauty 🤷🏻‍♀️ Edited to add: I still love Amanda and I’m glad she’s reviewing because she’s the BEST person to review this kind of formula. Was just voicing my disgust with this brand.

Whew! I am so so glad you like them! I adore the original Signature lips and was hoping these new ones were going to be just as good. I've only seen one other review (from @catethegreat) - she loved them and they looked gorgeous on her, so I'm happy you agree! I'm also very glad you mentioned the "lip ring" issue - that is my biggest problem with nearly every lip stain I've used. I've tried to get around it by using every type of lip prep product I can find (including lip primers and lipstick "lock" products) without success, which is disappointing. The fact that you didn't find this an issue with these lipsticks is so great and now I have to get a few! Court and Equestrian are also calling my name 😊 Although Maison looks beautiful on you and this just may be a mauve I can finally wear! Thanks for another perfect and helpful review, Amanda! ❤

I got Maison and love it. It's so light and airy, almost feels like nothing on the lips. Looking forward to getting a few more shades.

How does it compare to the Refy Lip Blush? I own Orchid and plan to pick up Cinammon eventually, but I could be persuaded to pick this up instead (or as well!) I have not owned anything from Merit but have swatched lovingly the signature satin lip (along with other products).

I prefer Lisa Eldridge products….I MIGHT buy the Baby color who knows.

Merit lip products are hit or miss with me. I got two of these and honestly, I just don’t know if I’m loving them. I will give them more wear time, though, just to see. I agree they are weightless and NOT hydrating. I will disagree about there not being a scent, though. My Classic has a bit of some sort of faint chemical smell…which I can then sort of taste as I inhale it from my mouth. Blech. I will also say that my Classic arrived broken at the base, but I’m not going to bother with customer service, since they probably won’t give a bother about me.

I also really don't like those silicone heavy lipsticks, they don't stick to the inner part of my lower lip either. Slip is one of my favorite and most used lip products, I also have and really like baby and 1990, but I'm just not sure yet about any of these shades.

Can you believe I haven't tried Merit lipsticks yet?! I think they are absolutely beautiful. Perfect. At least by your demos and Sephora online. And I totally trust you, Amanda! I just don't know if there's an "everyday" color me. I'm probably just being silly and should try something different.

I am so impressed with Merit. They stand behind their products and customer service was incredibly responsive. I am surprised by how much I love their stick foundation. And I can’t stop, won’t stop purchasing the Great Skin!
