In today’s video I finally take the RS for a spin to explain what my recent exhaust modifications are like and how they have changed the performance of the car.
Love the mk 2 Sound, its mega..my m2 has a similar sound and I can't wait to fit my catless DP to see how the sound changes...and I'm with you on the tar and gravel, they do this quite a bit here in Ireland too..fucking horrendous practice
It’s the worst thing to come across when you’re out in the car. Especially when people are bombing the over way without a care in the world! Your M2 will sound epic 👌🏻
Sounds fantastic!! Love the pops 🤪 I have milltek system with airtec intercooler and rs500 airbox and filter ran 320bhp was going to do 3” downpipe pipe next 😀
It’s a unique noise isn’t it! It’s actually louder on boost now than it was when it had the mongoose non res fitted 😂 But it’s so peaceful when just cruising about. Best of both worlds 👌🏻
@@CarFocused that’s exactly what I like about my miltek ultimate with resonated centre section perfect for the neighbours etc but sounds unreal when giving it some. Great video as always mate
She’s a beauty you’ve nailed the perfect mature sound of the 5 pot my st on the motorway drives me crazy with drone lol, and that road resurfacing gravel drives me nuts I went for a drive down the lanes and it was everywhere 😭
Symposer delete on my MK2, K&N filter, Turbosmart recirc and the mighty KMS Thunderstorm cat back. Had to put a mid silencer on as my ears bled !!! Top car mate been following since your 1st video 👍
I did the same thing to my M140i. I do not like loud exhausts, or massive exhaust tips, I like a sleeper. I had a 200 cell Wagner cat fitted, and my car is now a beast at 455bhp/634nm ... yet it looks and sounds standard.
Great video. I have milltek down pipe, sports cat and mountune cat back. Also running colins performance CP400. Pulls like a train and sounds fantastic.
Mate the part at 3:30 were you mentioned the British roads really is tru haha, probably my biggest hate in the world is went they fill a pothole with gravel my mk2 st gets coverd in stone chips and is lowerd so it makes quite a bang when i hit one , why do we even pay road tax to then constantly have to fix our cars they really should re lay the whole section of road for saftey reasons im sure most agree with me on this one
im amazed how quiet the rs standard exhaust is, was sat in a carp ark the other week waiting for th mrs, and a green rs came in the carp park and it was silent.. lol
You will need injectors for 370/375 🙀, they aren’t too expensive, but it all adds up. No point custom mapping with out them or the intercooler. Keep the torque under control otherwise you’ll need a new clutch….as I found out. As for why we pay road tax….well to pay to pedestrianise the roads!
360 - 370hp sounds good in my opinion ... I drive mine with around 380hp and 550NM of torque ... it just feels best for me in the car, not too much and not too little power, and it's solid too. 🙂 I once was allowed to drive an RS with around 510 hp and ... of course, a lot of power is great and maybe it sounds a bit weird, but in that car it was just not my thing to be honest. 😉 For my taste, the absolute upper limit for the best driving experience (I can only estimate it) is around 460hp and something around 600NM of torque in the MK2 RS. 🤔🤷♂️ I really like your opinion on that sound and the original look! 👍
Completely agree. The MR375 car I drove felt spot on. It’s all too easy to chase big power and ruin the balance of the car. It’s not good when it’s spinning up and scrabbling about for grip. I’d rather be able to plant my foot and extract all of the power that’s on tap 👍🏻👍🏻
@@CarFocused Absolutely! 👍 ... as James May approximately said: "With less power, I can accelerate longer and have fun for a longer period of time" ... and you have more time to grin! 😁
Yea I’m just trying to get everything in place first then map the car to suit the hardware it’s running. The car is noticeably more responsive now and have more punch but I was running around with a completely destroyed catalyst before so it was always going to feel better haha.
I've always been a fan of the stock exhaust. Aftermarket alternative options are just far too big they look out of place, also the standard option has a nicer tone, alternatives are too deep too loud just sounds like noise. Worse on focus st models. I think your at the sweet spot here
We will look back in years to come with roads full of 3 cylinders and realise that no other hot hatch ever sounded as good as the 5 pot. Probably why I've owned 2 mk2 rs myself 👌🏻
B660…. You’re not a million miles from me. Would love to get your car in for some work at my detailing bay and there’s a 375hp MK2 ST here if you fancy a video on that too. Happy to message you on another platform. Let me know.
I know where you're coming from regarding gravel as I remember a few years back i was following a truck and he was lossing his load infront of me, I flashed and flashed and honked, eventually he pulled over got out and came over to my window and said what's the matter, I told him and he said "fuk of I'm gritting"
Sounds fabulous, still running the original exhaust on my mk2 but when the inevitable happens and I need a new system it'll be a milltec. Gravel pain in the ass but personally If I see it I turn round and either find another route or abort drive n return home.
I Feel the pain when I drive by those gravel lorries and I hear the inevitable stones being thrown at the bodywork makes me swear and cringe at the same time🤬
Haha no seriously I love the standard one! Fred said performance wise it won’t make much of a difference anyway, they’ve done a few like this before. I just love how chilled it is with normal driving.
