***Speaking of paper cuts, I use tape on my comic book boxes. Basically when I open up a new box, I tape the perimeter & hand-hold slots as a minimum. Usually I tape every part that has an edge that could incidentally cut you when moving them around when filled.***

Worst comic injury: I own a comic store and when I was pulling a box off the top level of one of my backroom store shelves. I didn't realize there was some loose stuff on top of the box, and as soon as I titled the box an empty folded down action figure box for a GI Joe Vehicle slid off and the corner hit me right in the eyeball, cutting my eye. I had to wear an eye patch for over a year at night when I slept b cause that eye would dry out and ache. Still happens sometimes, and this is 5 years after the injury. Still have to keep that eye patch handy at night.

Sorting out comics for a completely mixed up collection will always be a nightmare for whoever is given the task to do so!

My most painful comic related injuries have been submitting books to cgc and seeing purple labels when I check the grades. Just heart breaking 💔 to find out a book you've had in the pc for years was color touched and you didn't know 😢.

I sometimes wear thin surgical gloves when i go through bins. That way, i dont need to wash my hands when done. I'd rather have signature on the CGC case, rather than the book. Someone should make special markers for doing this.

I went to short boxes & then to the BCW plastic containers. I currently uses storage shelves that fit perfectly but now I am going to just have all in the BCW containers stacked with the locking system.

You can get a bag and board where the bag has a flip section for signatures and remarks. Maybe in the future you can do that with the cases but how far are you gonna go before it becomes another acetate cover. It’s not that far from it all

I started collecting comics in early 2019 due to my kids interest in the movies. By late 2020, I read the tea leaves and concentrated solely on Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-related, Spider-Verse books (Venom, Miles, Gwen, etc…). I haven’t regretted my decision yet. Across The Spider-Verse was phenomenal by the way

Invest in a dolly for moving your boxes to & from your car, truck or van. Obviously if you only have a car, then you can only make it easier moving them when at home or at your business. Of course you can always ask someone at the convention hall if they have one you could borrow when there as needed.

Remarked slabs make for one-of-a-kind collectibles. "It's not JUST a 9.8 - it's a 9.8 with interior and/or exterior remarks!" Kinda devalues the regular 9.8. Query: How does one assess the value of a signed, low grade book?

With collecting going too far, I believe it is only a matter of time before manga collecters start paying attention to 1st print!

I've felt for a while the whole collectible grading industry was a scam. We are relying on a third party to tell us what condition an item is in. It is all subjective too.

I am all for remarks on a slab. Just adds another layer, no pun intended, to the comic book collecting hobby. I just can't move long boxes like to used to. So I went to shorts. I did this over thirty years ago, but I am so glad I did.

I get finger cramps digging through dollar boxes. I have to drink water immediately to loosen the cramp.

It’s a protective case meant to take hits. Why would you pay good money, to have someone draw on it, when it’s meant to take a hit.

Yes, about the signature on the case could incidentally be wiped or smudged when the owner without thinking wants to clean it up for presentation because he forgot that it was signed on the outside......lol

Bad Idea and CGC should be held accountable for the acetate slabbing. It was a disrespectful to everyone who pays for grading. It was the same with the acetate Crain covers. Paid for grades. It was not for promotion and should have been labelled as such.

Every two weeks for the podcast is cool, it was interesting convo going on with you and the fantast guy's! I wish you would re-consider doing ur mail call to thise outside of u.s.a but i understand the logistics i just wanna give you a reason to send me comics.

Why does the podcast take so long to come out on spotify? I think last podcast took exactly a week to the day to come out. I don't mean to sound rude, I just love listening to the podcast while I work. It's like getting a present and waiting for your birthday to open it 😂😂😂😂

i hear ya jeff, bought a collection of 30 or so longgg boxes recently, after going through books at site, then loading, then unloading, and now going through it again, my back hurt for two days, lets hear it for short boxes,....!

Tom: PLEASE DO ME (and US) a HUGE FAVOR: please Please PLEASE do an episode on the WORST ACCIDENTAL DESTRUCTION YOU'VE EVER DONE TO A COMIC BOOK. Here's mine: last week I was taking my raw 9.0, Neal Adams drawn, gorgeous, iconic Brave and the Bold # 93 comic book out of the bag in order to (ironically) carefully look at the it/leaf through it and enjoy it just prior to sending it to Satan's Lair to get slabbed- and guess what I forgot to do? If you guessed "Remove the bag-closing-tape first, before sliding it out" well then ***DING DING DING*** we HAVE A WINNER! The tape stuck to the small red words "and the" in between the larger, iconic book title words "Brave" and "Bold"- and it ripped it right off, thereby costing me hundreds of dollars and, more importantly, definitely a few months/years off my life from the fallout caused by the internal stress induced by my internal fury for being SUCH an idiot. I'm 55 bro- and I made a ten-year-old's mistake. Imagine the sick feeling I got when i saw that oh-so-typical clear scotch tape affixed to the cover and KNEW- 100%- that there was no "slow peeling" it off but that in fact I was DONE. Aperfectly so that I could align the ripped piece with the top of the cover and at first glance it would seem like all was perfect. Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. (sigh) So PLEASE do an episode about the worst thing you have ever mistakenly done to one of your prize comics; I'm willing to bet the comments section will blow up with all the various stories. Yes it hurts to relive these types of moments but honestly with everyone sharing their own "tape-rip"-type story it'll at the very least make all of us who have done things like this feel like we're not alone. Tbh, one week on and I'm STILL pissed at myself. I just want to sell the book and get SOMETHING for it, as there's no way in God's green earth I'll be keeping it. I can't even hardly bring myself to look at it. Oh and lastly: honestly it's not the money I lost or the fact that the mishap could SO EASILY have been avoided; rather, it's because I ruined a beautiful book of which there are only a finite amount. Aaaaaarrrrggggghhhhhhh!!!!!

Not a fan of remarks (don't hate it, some are cool) but a NO on remarking slabs. Looks cool, just not for me. Someone wants to, then do it.

You would think by now those stupid cardboard comic boxes would be gone and replaced with something better and the BCW plastic boxes are ok but I heard off a guy at a convention picking up a BCW plastic box and it fell apart with thousands worth of comics so why hasn't anyone made a heavy duty box out of solid plastic and not those snap together boxes?

Although that was awesome art on that TMNT slab. It almost completely obscures the cover of the book. I wouldn't pay extra for it but I also wouldn't not buy it because of it.

If you can afford the tmnt 1 and the paint does deteriorate from the slab, I’m sure the purchaser can afford K. Eastman to touch it up or draw on top of it again down the road

I'm a business owner of a construction company. I feel no pity with the 1st thing haha. I rather move 10 pallets of comics than 10 pallets of sand or 10 pallets of 60lb sealer buckets haha. Love the content though!

I have a couple of beefs with the new Spider-Man movie; a lot of the background art was very bland. Looks like they just focused on the character in the foreground and just drew a bunch of blah in the background. Kind of lazy imo. There were also a lot of parts of the movie that were very blurry. So much so, that it literally hurt mine and my family’s eyes. At one point they thought I was asleep because I had to close them they hurt so much. It looked like it was a 3D movie you went to and took off your glasses, that’s how bad it was. Last but not least, the action was hard to follow at times. So much going on, so much color, I felt I needed to have A.D.D. AND be on an acid trip just to know wth was going on. 7 out of 10

I wouldn't buy a defaced slab. The whole point of thr slab being clear is so that you can appreciate the cover of the comic. If you value the artist and have the opportunity to have them put some artwork or a signature on the book, take the risk and have them lay it right on the paper. Putting utnon the slab is half stepping IMO

The new spiderverse animated movie is absolute crap. I didn't like the colors, didn't know what the story was.????+100😂

Not a fan of signatures on the front of the books. Would be much happier if the signature was on the back, or inside. Or better yet, placed at the top of the slab inside, not on the book at all.

7.0 Superman that's fucking incredible

Unfortunately I love Dinesh I think he's an amazing businessman and a great hobbyist. But nothing could have been farther from the truth my friend Matt has the original first off the pre-press Run of that TMNT printproof. I sent the copy and all photos to Dinesh to show him proof of that. I've had that 4 years and actually offered you Tom and Travis the story about 2 years ago. But you guys said that you didn't want to do interviews with stuff like that. I understand you guys got a lot of things to do in this was probably not on your radar to right now. But the story of the original first sheets that came off the press which are uncut is an incredible story I'm a boy that was given a gift and didn't know until 40 some-odd years later that he had it in a storage. It's almost like the story of Larry Hama and the cover of g.i. Joe 21 and randomly found in a storage and worth so much money in a part of American history. I wanted to thank Dinesh and bad idea comics for providing such a fun and wild ride at the diamond retailer Summit. They provided us with a motor cage bus and carted us around to all the comic book stores in Dallas on their dime. Dinesh and bad idea comics or a Class Act and I am sorry that he was not there but his second-in-charge was and was just as fun. Last but not least I want to give my love and condolences to the Halperins to their wonderful son Mikey who made us all laugh and believe there was a better day the next day. May he rest in peace and always be adorned by those who are still living.
