It's not his first, there were a few MTG products inbetween but yeah, 99% of his content is focused on YGO. I don't understand why people attacked him in the comments of his video because clearly he's not involved in the MTG community, how could he have known the story around this product? He said he should've done more research but honestly, who could expect such a clusterfuck out of nowhere? On the surface, I can totally see how someone would accept such a 'glamorous' sponsor in a heartbeat. Really, Ruxin deserves no blame for this.

No....if he takes a bad sponsorship then yes he should get some flak. Given that he's accepted he made a mistake taking the 30th anni packs and the Established Titles sponsor and promises to do better then now he should be an even better content creator in the future.

A little bit of research would have helped. He didn’t deserve the flack, but he could have easily avoided it.

Then to top off the year, 30th Anniversary edition comes out, and you have whales that are trying to pump it and make people feel that retro cards are going to be this big over the top value slot. I think it says a lot, LIKE A LOT, that they have sought out creators outside of MTG to PAMP it up. They must be sensing bearishness or they are sitting on a ton of inventory. Regarding Ruxin -- the dude was blindside. Had no idea what he was reviewing (didn't do the due diligence on the product, which he mentions in his apology). But I don't think he really needed to apologize honestly. All he did was open some promo product he didn't know much about. I hope he got paid.

Yeah your review of the video was not critical at him at all it aimed the cross hairs at wizards not him. Like he was not even aware that the cards where not tourney legal which implies wizards explained nothing to them. That's on wizards guys not you and definitely not him. Like I went on his vid and all I wrote is please don't buy this project for the price just buy a couple of OG dual lands instead and that the cards where not tourney legal without attacking the dude personally as I know he was basically a buystander in this so focused on information as opposed to shouting at the guy.

Yeah unfortunately that’s not true in 2022, a single video with extreme negative reaction could permanently damage his standing with youtube, it can effect ad dollars, who he is and isn’t recommended to in the algorithm, it can do lasting damage to his channel.

@@anblueboot5364 I think it's not about the community, and more about the algorythm magic behind it. Largely negative video might make the channel be less likely to show up in peoples recommended videos.

This is partly why Yu-Gi-Oh is still gaining in popularity for some reason in my opinion. Things like a secret lair, or a massive re-print set with old and new staples has been done so many times in this game, that we expect a structure deck to eventually have a common re-printing of some broken card. We got MAXX C as a structure deck card while it was on the way out the door and onto the banlist. MTG and especially Pokémon have been riffing off of yugioh very noticeably in the last half a decade.

@@Saixjacket even mechanically there's similarities. VSTAR cards are reminiscent of Xyz monsters: powerful units that you put on top of your weaker ones with effects that have a limited number of uses.

@@Saixjacket Yeah that's something good about Yugioh we know that every single staple is goign to become a common in the future, i think Evenly Matched is going to be the one that gets that treatment when the recently announced structure deck comes here replacing Maxx C, or maybe Impermanence.

If you know the right TITLE to search for, it seems that the other sponsor he eluded to is pobably a scam.

Its not really a scam, just a really silly premium product. Old MTG cards are very expensive due to wotc promising back in the 90s to never reprint their earliest sets so the cards would retain value. The 30th anniversary edition sort off breaks that promise but gets around it by having the cards be illegal for use in official games. Which makes them not reprints but proxies. For 1100$, for 4 packs, which won't have the things you want... You can get all the proxies you want of specific cards for 10$ from 3rd party shops on places like etsy. So the only value in 30th edition is novelty, collectibility and investing. Which isn't in a good state either when the biggest mtg investor has been taking the piss out of it for over a month. All wotc did was give ruxin a sponsorship to open this very bad product, we can attach all sorts of malicious intentions to it but its probably just them finding no mtg creator who would touch this product.

To be fair, Wizards snuck up behind him with their devious smile and pulled his pants down themselves. He wasn't the one who pulled them down.
