Too late now, but the easiest way to pop out those screw covers on the wand is to take a small knife, like a pocket knife, and heat up the blade for just a second with a lighter, then just stick it ever so slightly into the cover and it instantly cools and when you pull it out, off comes the cover with it. And you can put them back on after as well.
Mine is coming in next month, I can't wait to install it on mine. Update: I got my V-hook the other day, I installed it and it's so much better than the Hasbro one. I got the GB2 version, for some reason there are small holes drilled near the corners on the gun block. Other than that, it was a near perfect fit, I clipped off the posts and sanded them down flat. The screws that came with the V-hook were a little short but we're still long enough to secure with the nuts and washers that came with it. I also used the original screws on the neutrona wand, I just used a drill bit to grind out the holes on the hook to make them fit a little better.
So, you mentioned that the female bracket will mount to the thrower with the stock HasLab screws but it seems the male bracket doesn't fit to the mounting holes on the pack. Is that correct? I'm trying to avoid doing any drilling on my pack and was just curious. Thanks, as always!
It was only off by a millimeter or two. If you don’t want to drill on the pack, you can slightly widen the holes on the brackets. They are both very close.
You don't need to take the gun track off to replace the vhook. This is a completely unnecessary step. The gbfans vhook is a direct replacement with no need to take anything apart on the wand, other than taking the 2 Phillips head screws out of the stock hook.
How are the screws that hold the v-hook attached to the wand itself? Do they just screw in, or is there some sort of nut on the inside of the wand holding them in? I'm hesitant to unscrew my wand to install the gb fans v-hook if this means I would need to do any further disassembly other than removing the 2 screws.
Maybe spray a little WD40 on there. I felt those screws stripping easily, and I was barely able to get one loose. Have something that can grip the head of the screw, maybe pliers on the screw head and needle nose on the nut inside.
