All of this is called RAKABI in Persian, I mean this is one single technique and it has the old name رکبی Rakabi The intention is to twist your opponent's body and expose his back to the canvas(4 ps), but if you can not perform that perfectly or if your opponent manages to react some how, then again you will take points(2 ps) by getting him down. All these techniques have specific names in Persian, and these names are really interesting. For example that type of ankle pick David Taylor performs and you explained it, is named بزکش Bozkesh which means pulling the goat :))) you know why? because that is the exact thing that happens when they want to milk a goat in villages in Iran, the person who is milking sits at the middle of the flock, then he or she :) grabs the back of the goat's head (may be on of its horns) then pushes its head down to make its hands nailed then grabs one of its hands to pull it forward and milk it ;)

Guilherme yes, really amazing! and Rakabi رکبی is from the word رکب which means deception, but the word implies the concept of "surprise", especially when this surprise includes pretending something and then suddenlly doing the exact reverse, it means deceiving somebody and taking him by surprise, and you know, that is exactly what this technique is about ;) Wrestling is not a sport, it is a martial style for brainiacs, it is thinking like a chess master while your heart is beating 200 beats per minute!

The “Over/Under whip around” is actually called Uki Otoshi in Judo. It’s a very rare technique for scoring (at least in the way it is traditionally taught), but it has been made very effective with variations shown here that develop out of wrestling and especially Mongolian wrestling.

Damn Dan in your first video I talked about his upper body strength but in this video you clearly see how he offbalances his opponent and then makes his move. He almost is toying with them. Another great video.

Amazing video and can’t wait for the next wrestling analysis video! I think the “over/under whip around” is more commonly called a “standing whip-over”. But I am not 100% sure

These film studies are great 👍 please keep them up. I know your probably busy but I think more consistency on your videos would be great. After part 3 you should do jordan Burroughs double leg study, I would greatly appreciate it. These study videos are very helpful

Thanks for the video! I've been trying to figure out how to integrate judo into wrestling and since most throws work best from an underhook this video is a goldmine.

Excellent job analyzing these fundamental positions, may I suggest the whizzer/underhook position from the mat? You'll see a lot of driving through and stalemates in this position, but I was wondering if there are any other good finishers like sadulaev's cartwheel.
@etagged
@etagged 6 лет назад
That's awesome! With Yazdani I noticed that he prefers the more flexible shoulder underhook compared to the seatbelt, and he's always driving in a circle to loosen it up so he can get behind. I just wonder if there's a more measured approach when you're locked in the whizzer/underhook ground position and both wrestlers have equal footing.

I'm glad you're getting more views Dan, definitely deserved. Could I ask you about preemptive framing? This one person consistently armbars me as soon as I frame, like as soon as I frame my arm before I even get to my elbow. I am using the cross collar frame btw
@orangeInc311
@orangeInc311 6 лет назад
Dan Sweeney mid pass. They do a sort of torreando variation.
@orangeInc311
@orangeInc311 6 лет назад
Dan Sweeney I can see what you mean. I do prefer the cross collar frame as my game is based off of it in terms of collar drags and heavily using it in de la riva etc. I would like to find a way around it however if not I will switch to same side collar. I can see how being up right would greatly reduced it. I should have been more clear about my first question, I get armbarred when I play dlr and they intitiate a torreando/loose x pass. I establish a frame then sit up the hip escape and it's right as I'm in the process of sitting up when I already have a frame. Is there anyway I could send you a video?

The whip around is a version of the cow catcher / cement mixer just no chin strap.
@DPSBreakdowns
@DPSBreakdowns 5 лет назад
Agreed. Grabbing the head instead of the triceps control actually seems like an easier method for getting an opponent to his back. It is amazing how Yazdani is able to bring his opponents to their backs (or force them to roll through) without head control.

It would be AWESOME for you to do a scramble breakdown one on of the best individual scrambling efforts I've ever seen. Mike Poeta(Illinois) V Gregor Gillespie(Edinboro) at the 2007 LV Cliff Keen Tourny. www.flowrestling.org/events/5000110-2007-cliff-keen-las-vegas-invitational/videos?playing=5087543 The scramble is at the end of the highlight. Highlight has some good footage of current uprising MMA stars Darrion Caldwell(NC State) and Gillespe that I mentioned earlier. Also some Kellen Russell freshman highlights vs JJ Jaggers( the man that beat Chad Mendes for a Ncaa championship with a leg broke in 3 places.)(badass)
