Nice one, didn't expect to see Yazdani on this channel. His game, like the game of a lot of Iranians (check out Masoud Esmaeilpoor for example), seems to revolve around the underhook, getting to it and then using it in a forward pressure way, where they seem to aim to push the opponent out of bounds, and when he resists the push out, score on him. Wrestling coaches from the US, like Mark Perry and Brandon Slay have taken notice of it 3 or 4 years ago, and have videos (DVDs in Mark's case) where they explain how it works. One detail, that you missed in the video, is that Yazdani always puts his head on the opposite side of the underhook, which is something that is traditionally not taught. Conventionally, you're taught to put your head on the underhook side, so as to take that space that is in between, which then opens high crotches, single legs, fireman's carries, duck unders, side headlocks, etc. Yazdani also doesn't position the underhook in the classical way, by grabbing the outside of the shoulder and sagging on it so that the opponent can't slip the arm out, what he does is he diggs deep behind his opponent's back, where he seemingly grabs nothing but keeps the fist like a blanket, a blanket that slips across his opponent's back, enveloping him in a way. It is a very greco-like underhook, that requires a lot of pressure and power. The reason behind the Iranians utilizing that kinda approach maybe in their belief that it allows for better control of the opponent's body, especially the underhook half of it, while the head and the other free arm can then better defend against the usual counters to the underhook, like the overhook duck under, high crotch, fireman's carry, arm throw, inside trip, etc. Of course, it also makes the knee picks easier to set up. P.S. That whip around from the list would, I think, be classified as a throw by.

To execute those moves you need to have the upper body strength and be very agile. Great work

His underhook is murder. I see him get that and wrestlers HATE it, Yazdani is a lion. I am a judoka and I would use the underhook in nogi to get wrestlers and the like in a more upright position to go for reaps and hip throws. I could throw a mean osoto gari from underhook position and its a very hard to counter once your balance has been taken

So I noticed that he likes to drape his arm across the opponents back when he gets his underhook. If you look at guys like Carl Adams, when they do their underhooks they like to put a lot of pressure on that shoulder joint. Do you know if there is a specific reason to why he goes across the back rather than the shoulder joint?
