I love these kinds of games. Myst was just superb. I remember watching my dad play through Phantasmagoria and I still vividly recall some scenes that disturbed me back then as a child. I am going to try this one, but I'm just wondering, are the s**c**e scenes very explicit or graphic? I know you said they were sudden, but I sort of like to know what I'm getting myself into.
Every ghost section starts with a close up of the deceased's face. What you see is the aftermath of the suicide, not the act itself. Because it's staged with actors, it is a realistic depiction, but ymmv about how convincing or disturbing it is. I just don't want to surprise anyone with that kind of content!
Watching this again cause I find it really interesting, and I really appreciate you mentioning that people with severe mental illness are actually way more likely to be victims of abuse! As someone with Dissociative Identity Disorder, it's often disheartening how often we're a cheap scare or twist in media, and it is very sad to see people with schizophrenia lumped in that same pile. (Though I must say, the game as a whole kinda gives me plural vibes, with Roxy being divided among a bunch of different people with trauma whose shit you sort out 👀)
