10 months searching for this car has finally paid off. I've made it my mission to not only find a 1968- 1972 Chevy Nova but also to restore it top to bottom. I don't think I could ever had predicted the crazy journey this quest would take me on: abandoned car lots, cars left in the woods for half a century, the ups and down... the madness. Join us now on this crazy journey to see what happens!
Do you know where this car is? Go to our website and let us know.

I built my 72 Nova back in 1996, from three Novas a 68 Nova that had the trunk smashed in from a wreck way back in 1975 , and a 1971 SS that had no title and was gutted out out for drag racing, so now my 1972 Nova has 68 front cap and bumper with the 71 SS badges and Fender fins, rear end

@SubdivisionAuto
@SubdivisionAuto 11 месяцев назад
I think there is always a lot of value to being patient. I cannot tell you how many times I almost "made a decision" behind the scenes. Keep in mind I didnt film every minute of this but behind the scenes I was working on this everyday, calling people, emails etc. But at the end of the day I always kept to my guns and it sure helped a lot. Yes involving the kids was always the idea. I think its a cool idea for them to "grow up" on camera. Even if they only appear occasionally behind able to go back and see that happens is an amazing memory.... even if its selfishly just for me.
@johnnyduplantis
@johnnyduplantis 11 месяцев назад
@@SubdivisionAuto Oh no, it is NOT selfish. Actually it's quite generous from my perspective. I think it's fantastic. Besides, you know when a TV series popularity is waning, the producers say, "Hey, lets add a kid or two." LOL

I have got to know John quite well lately and he's a great guy too so I am really happy this happened the way it did. Can't believe you were able to sit through the Mad Max project haha, I made so many errors and talked so damn much in it. One of the reasons I want to do this is to make it right. Lots of errors in the Jeep but thats okay learning experience. This one is going to be very different, getting experts to chip in and spent a lot of time researching proper techniques and science behind what we are going to do. Hopefully I can shut up as well and just get some work done. Thanks for the comments again. New arrival is good times. All the best Sean

Yeah unfortunately I felt I was always tiptoeing around a scam. I saw over 50 Novas so the vast majority of them I didnt even mention but there were some scamy situations out there. Its just the way it is always some clown trying to make an extra buck at the expense of someone else. Unfortunate. If there is one I have learned in this (which i didnt include) is not to be too quick to act on a car. Even if it feels like the right one dont get excited and be patient. Could save a headache. Will do a breakdown and gameplan of the car for sure.

I used Facebook a lot "for sale used" groups. Posted what I was looking for and sometimes people would respond. I also joined smaller groups of towns around and posted messages. Used Kijiji a lot had ads on there. And with all that I found a lot.

@@SubdivisionAuto a hatchback comment because I've got one and I've had it since 1985 ish. The hatch is there got a dash seats are there. Nobody wanted those cars back then but now there's more interests. I traded the other parts off for mustang parts on a car I was building back then as a kid. And cut the V6 engine in a slightly newer Omega. It has very great bones that's in the car was taken off the road but it was ten or twelve years old. More importantly here are a few places you may get parts for when you do find your car. In Minnesota and I believe it's called wind valley Auto Parts. John's down in Texas. There's a couple places in and one in South Dakota but I'm not thinking of the names. Adkins maybe. Probable good sources. I knew three of them and Wisconsin and Minnesota but the last one is crushing out by March earlier this year and Namath had two dozen are these Nova's. I'm also including nineteen seventy-three and seventy-four in that tally. The car you're looking for is very much sought after. If you can find one in Southern Kansas. Especially around Wichita 20 miles to the east, 80 miles to the West. No rust zone and low burnt out by the sun zone. D&h classics in Oklahoma around Shawnee roughly speaking. A good candidate or place to find parts possibly a whole car. All I'm saying is that in the area that I described around Wichita if you get much farther west they like to burn in the Sun but rest will be minimal. The panhandles where the sun ☀️ burns them up in both Oklahoma and Texas. From Abilene Texas on up through Oklahoma including Southern Kansas. Great place to find low Rust cars. But they are often burnt to a crisp by the sun other than that one spot around Wichita over to South Hutchinson that I described in Kansas. I don't think you'll find a lot of novas in that area anyway. Yo out at the rust Ranch is a classic salvage yard but your Nova would be at the upper end of the time period that he would deal with. Rosedale Kansas. I have bought parts from him. I found him worth several hours of drive time. But in his car 600-plus vintage vehicles I do not remember seeing a single Nova. He's always worth a try. One other hand that I found good in searching for cars. Where did they sell a bunch of them at? More so where did they manufacture the cars. Now as these cars are getting older that doesn't work as well. In the past at least those cars are more easily found around military posts such as Army Post. G.i. back in the day with often just toss them aside and go buy another one because they were cheap and they had money to burn to a certain point. I have been around fort Leonard Wood Missouri in years gone by and they have a ton of cars laying around within 30 miles of the post you just have to drive through and explore. I'm not talking about on post, just around it. I was stationed there one time for a two-time and I found this true wherever I went. Novas mustang GTO Camaro and so forth. Last time I was there a couple years ago was for a funeral and I've been there a couple of times for funerals. Those things seem to occur more often and as I get older. Anyway the last one was not necessarily on a military cemetery 🪦. That guy screwed up while he was in the military and lost that benefit but they still gave military honors. But on three sides it was somewhat scenic on the fourside across the road you could see a lot of old cars and if you haven't passed there there was quite a few more going deeper inside of the area of the compound. Maybe I'll stop you can add if you're in the general area I can't say that I saw a Nova. Out in Eastern Tennessee there is a yard but it's Rusty. Around the Georgia Alabama state lines for Florida. I picked up a first generation firebird and it had been sitting on his floor pan for about five years. It is the best no rust floor pan. I have seen on one of these cars ever. They only exception would be the ones I have had their floor pans replace the car has been meticulously kept. It was interesting driving past the alligators to get to it. Just another area that people don't think about often and it's a relatively dry area that often happen about a hundred miles in from the coast. Hopefully these tidbits from about 40 years of my life help you out. I like helping people out with great enthusiasm for the car hobby. Thank you for your reply.

Hi there from the UK and a new subscriber, it’s really good to hear your enthusiasm for keeping these classic and historical vehicles on the roads and bringing them back from the brink again. Myself and my three brothers were always fixing stuff and cars classic cars and vehicles all our lives, I held my first spanner at eleven years old given to me by my dad and he said to me I want you to unbolt that front headlight on his 1977 Ford Cortina 2.0 Ghia (which needed replacing and he showed me how, from there I was hooked and went with him on my days off from school to his garage and with him picking up vehicles with his classic old beaver tail recovery truck a 1982 Y reg Ford Transit that was 19 ft long and specially built and unique and also I went to college to learn bodywork repair and mechanics and fabrication and welding later on for further study and passed my exams, I owe my dad a lot for teaching us brothers and my uncle’s and grandfather too. You will get it done and teach your sons how to and I have faith in you.
