Your libido level is a benchmark of your level of juice and passion for life.
Keesha Ewers, a doctor of sexology, explains how libido is a powerful indicator of your overall vitality and wellbeing. She provides a holistic four-step framework to uncover the root cause of low libido and reset your mindset, because "what's in your head goes to your bed!"
Dr. Keesha Ewers is a doctor of sexology, board certified in functional medicine and Ayurvedic medicine, a psychotherapist, energy worker, yoga teacher, and founder and a host of the Healthy YOU! Radio network.
Dr. Keesha is the founder of a field of medicine called Functional Sexology, a combination of functional medicine, psychotherapy, sexology, and Ayurveda. Through the Academy for Integrative Medicine, she offers a certification course for those passionate about and wanting to become Integrative Medicine Health Coaches. She has developed the Freedom Framework, which is designed to get to the root problem of any disease or imbalance.
Dr. Keesha has published articles and books and conducted research primarily on adrenal fatigue, emotional pain, cultural and spiritual values, and cognitive beliefs and how they affect female sexual desire and vitality.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

As a person who has suffered for more than 30 years from an autoimmune disease, I found this fascinating. I was raised in a VERY STRICT religious household - my own father was the Minister - and it has affected every single day, hour, etc of my life. To the point that, when in counseling years ago, I could not even do the exercise of talking to a pillow/chair/other object that represented one of your parents. Nope. No can do. So, yes, there is a LOT to be said of repressed memories, abuse, molestation, threat (whether only perceived or not - doesn't matter) and how all that has GOT to come out later. Had heard of the "ACE" concept before but never in any detail. Now I think I will be visiting it. It is never too late to try and heal old wounds. Blessings to all of the hurt, confused souls who ended up here like myself!! ❤️💜🧡

Why is it impossible to think that men can suffer from crazy low libido??? I find it frustrating that this is never on the table of discussion
@lauranixon20

It's not impossible to think that at all. It's just a huge amount more prominent in women but that doesn't mean other people don't have issues too.
@CarolinHauser

it's actually pretty common, because of what happens with our biology and not knowing how to make love in a way that replenishes it lmk if you'd like to have some pointers

The remaining problem here is that libido is not quantified and there is no clear way to to see right away if you are off the norm or not. The range of what is considered to be the norm thus is also not defined. So you can detect changes in your own libido, but that's it. As an engineer I am struggling with understanding the approaches of psychology. It feels like we know way more about outer space and the depths of the ocean as we know about our own brain.

I had more time to think about this. As a non-therapist the steps are something for a professional to understand and guide. However, again as a non-therapist, I'd get more from your presentation if you included more examples of key phrases your patients might use. Maybe you did describe the thinking of your patients so well that a person with a similar condition couldn't miss the connection. I have no way to know but trust that you nailed it. As a spouse/friend/lover/sibling or anyone else possibly taken into confidence, I could use the key words and phrases to trigger my memory of your presentation whereupon I could say 'That reminds me of a RU-vid by this doctor. Let me find the link for you."

This is very interesting. Thank you for sharing. This makes a lot of sense. However I’m a 43 year old woman. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis as a baby. No trauma. But severe aggressive ra. It was not treated back then. In an aggressive fashion. In fact there was no treatment, other than corticosteroid therapy for the associated pain and inflammation. The result of not treating the disease, means I’ve had to have a knee replacement at the age of 16. Due to a knee fused at a right angle, making walking impossible. Fused wrists. Neck. Bent fingers. I’m a prime example of what happens when you don’t treat ra effectively. I still found so much of this talk informative. Much of it applies. But for me, there was no trauma. I was born with this. Diagnosed at 18 months of age. I’m very aware of the benefits of mindfulness mediation and yoga and the effects it has on our parasympathetic nervous system. I meditate daily. But this disease wasn’t created by me, as the result of a childhood trauma. I came into with it. It came with me. It wasn’t treated effectively because there was no treatment in the 1970’s. My body is deformed as a result. So, Its something worth baring in mind. For anyone reading this. We can’t all ‘reprogrammed ourselves’, out of our medical conditions. Sometimes it takes more. 🙏💜
@d.o.y.vcaninebehaviour.hea1558
More as in medical intervention. Because if treatments such as methotrexate ect were available to me then. I’d almost certainly not have the deformities i do now. Not to this extent. Funnily enough now. My rheumatologists use me as a ‘come take a look at this woman... budding medical students’. This is what happens when ra isn’t treated. This is what ra ‘used to look like’. I’ve had many up and coming rheumatologists marvel over my damage. Which is fine. 🙏

This is very interesting because I know that if your parents experience something traumatic, that can actually be passed down to their kids through their DNA and the children can suffer from anxiety etc. without having experienced something themselves.

"There's nothing in the medical literature that showed what I just said." Really makes you think... serves me right for watching a TEDx video. Edit: from the description, "Dr. Keesha Ewers is a doctor of sexology, board certified in functional medicine and Ayurvedic medicine, a psychotherapist, energy worker, yoga teacher, and founder and a host of the Healthy YOU! Radio network." I researched each item, and her credentials started looking worse and worse.

@@xandercorp6175 You may be right, I should've phrased it another way. "There is more than way to resolve a problem, there are no absolute truths." Thank you for your subtle enlightenment. You sir are very smart, however do not think your knowledge can't be further expanded, don't be blinded by the confidence of your knowledge as it soon traps itself and in return becomes ignorance. Knowledge lies within doubt.
