I was about to say: "The sarcasm in the 'new style' bit was hilarious." But I can't do that now, because this is the top comment and now it looks like I'm being derivative. Thanks. Thanks a lot.
I'd like to see more videos like the beginning of this one... in a world where I die slowly on a skewer over a fire, while being flogged by very rude dwarves with halitosis.
It's funny how Chris is being sarcastic with the music and drone shots, but now actually found a good balance where he can have those things and still stay true to himself.
At least he does sjow the place and always has this relaxing feeling within him. He even made an entire video about Japan countryside; he used drones, but to shoot the beautiful scenery.
i know its a joke, and its a good one, but the second the mainstream logan paul kinda of vlog part started i was seriously growing 20 tumors in my eyes and brain
I think this is the most impressed i have ever been because of your sarcasm Chris The sarcasm/humour is so on point that most people seem to be COMPLETELY missing it Which means of course that u nailed it
The first few minutes reminded me of why I DON'T enjoy the "average" garden variety RU-vid travel videos. This channel is a breathe of fresh air. Chris is hilarious and informative. Especially since I'm moving to Japan in a couple of months. I've been binge watching.
I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE PEDDLE THEIR SWAN BOATS FASTER THAN ME. And so ends the travel series with Odigo. From sake vending machines the shores of Okinawa. Any personal highlights? Let us know in the comments section below!
Hi from Newcastle, Chris. I think a lot of people watch you because your videos are genuine. We don't need a lot of upbeat music and drones - we like your videos as they are. It's up to you mate but a lot of us aren't crying out for a different style.
I'd quite like to see cross cultural videos, like how your friends react to British things. Like food, drink, alcohol, general cultural differences. Chavs I'd love to see them reacting to those. I'd personally like to see more info on jobs open to westerners in Japan. I want to move but I can't be an English teacher, I don't have the confidence but I'd be happy with a normal simple job.
really? you read all the comments and you have that statistic? show me 5 comments that "don't get this video". yeah, you and maybe 3 more ppl are smart enough to get this. you special little genius you.
Seeing you try to smile during that intro was hellish. I’ll never get rid of the image of your rictus grin . Please only use your natural scowl from now on.
And almost 4 years later your style is still so genuine. Among the most pertinent selling points of your channel are your honesty, explanations and fab sense of humour. This is probably my favourite youtube channel to watch when I’m feeling low, there’s something so uplifting about it. You’ve transformed living in Japan (for me) from a fruitless pipe dream to a tangible reality within the next 3-4 years of my life, and for that I am very grateful. Thanks Chris for making these videos, even though I doubt that you will see this, your videos have a greater reach than you could possibly know!!
okay man. I have watched all your videos and I'm looking forward to your second Channel. it's good for this Puerto Rican to enjoy some good dry humor. I have to admit that first bit with the hole "RU-vid Sensational" filming was hilarious. I rather enjoy your normal style. it's absolutely refreshing. your videos are informative and real. I'll probably get a little hate for this, but don't change buddy you're the man. Enjoy Japan like I would. Even though I've never been there :-(
4 years ago his humour was still immaculate yet he still managed to make this joke video have a melancholic part on the swan ride somehow one of my favorite joke videos many great lines, should be in a book
I'm rewatching all of your videos because I'm visiting Japan again in May and like seeing places you go to see if there's anything else I can fit in. The reason I love your channel is because you don't do the regular "RU-vidr" stuff, that bugs the hell out of me. I found your take on the regular RU-vidr stuff hilarious! I love your dry sarcastic humour, thank you for doing RU-vid your way and always making me laugh, never ever change!
I am a Japanese student from Akita International University, me and my boyfriend really like to watch your video :) This is my first time to comment on your video, but I needed to! Akita has much more to explore, I wish you visited Akita during Kanto Festival (usually held beginning of August) and Omagari Fireworks, it's just so beautiful, it's beyond description. I also wish you had visited my university and joined nomikai with us :P We have very good sake in Akita. korekaramo ganbatte kudasai!
*Subtly clicks on the like button because she's laughing at Chris' attempts at being those casual playful youtubers and instead still giving off the vibe of grumpy cat meme* But now really, your usual videos are just fine and much more interesting, keep up the good work!
Mate dont ever change, real fun and always a pleasure to watch :) we dont care about other youtubers or what they do or we would be watching them. We love what YOU do! Keep recording as many as possible mate :)
Jesus people, I knew he was joking while he was still in the hotel room. Can people not pick up on subtlety at all? I noticed his sarcastic tone of voice immediately and I'm autistic.
I love the sarcasm. I love your style of video. I've learned so many new things about Japan that are more than just looking at pretty scenery. I discovered your channel a couple days ago and I've watched at least 3 videos a day, new and old. Keep them coming!
This is why I love this. channel. So much sarcasm and I can't get enough of it. BTW informative travel videos are so much better than those time lapses by a long shot
I love your videos exactly for you, and the people you're with. I know this video's an older one, but I enjoyed your style then and I enjoy it now. Keep going!
For those who don't know 1:30 is a *parody* of all the douchebags who make 'travel vlogs' like "look at me I'm so cool travelling around" with nothing educational. It's hilarious because it's accurate. THANK YOU CHRIS for not following the trends, keep doing what you're doing man ^^
I love how genuine you are in your videos , you dont try to sugarcoat it . Please dont be like every other travel channel. I love your humor and sarcasm
The beginning of that was hilarious (the new style). I'm not saying you should change, I just think you should make fun of that style more and everything else.
It's important to have people who make videos that aren't like all the other ones. That's why I like your channel--you have your own take on exploring Japan.
Everything you said in this video was so accurate. Nowadays it's more about the aesthetic than the actual substance. I love your style videos and I can actually say that after watching them I actually walk away knowing more than I did before. Keep up the awesome content, and the people who want to learn more about Japan and Japanese lifestyle/culture (with the perfect amount of humor and sarcasm) will stick around
I love how the Akita city part seems like pretty much the one shopping centre. Just discovered this channel, love Chris' style of presentation, humour and of course the tongue in cheek bit at the beginning.
Your satire is so on point 👍 I have noticed recently the Style over substance you mention in travelogs. Its pretty awesome how well you mocked they "popular style." You failed in making it bad though, humorous pretense aside, you still made a much better video than most your youtube peers. I do enjoy happy in Japans videos though, they have style and substance. I think that channel belongs with this one in the top jtravel/vlog channels
At first I was like,"haha that's funny satire" then by the end of the vlogging skit I thought, "I'm really starting to like this style". And I suddenly realized I am sheeple.
I have been binge watching all your videos and just keep your style the way it is. I love your style and ur sense of humour. Though I'm Indian by origin, I'm a doctor working in U.K. And it took me close to 7 years to understand the British sense of humour. Awesome posts and japan is now amongst my list of places to visit #bucketlist
Don't exchange your dry British humor and informative sarcasm for drone shots and time lapses. I really watch this channel because it is hilarious and it shows a culture I would not experience otherwise in a very real and down to Earth way.
Chris, I really look forward to your videos. They keep me laughing. This one in particular illustrated your unique style and creative edge. Having lived for years in Japan in the 80s&90s, there’s a sweet natsukashi kimochi as well. Good on you for creating your own life there. You should be dang proud of yourself!
Your videos are great, and the "different style" is what makes them more interesting for me. Your take on the whole deal of travelling, sightseeing and adventures are what makes your videos yours, so don't change! Good stuff, keep it up! Can't wait for the upcoming natsuki documentary 😂
Was fun seeing your take on a modern up beat youtuber travel video in the beginning. Can't say I found it very good. I liked the music, and I was glad we where back to the classical Abroad in Japan style later. Its after all what we are here for. Seeing you Chris showing us fantastic views of japan and takes on it, that is not like all the others. Keep it up mate! :D
Your videos are awsome😁😁 I haven't been watching long. But i like that you are such a down to earth bloke. There is never a dull moment! Also what a wicked scence of humor! please, please never change!!
Then came the time lapses, drones and upbeat music on the cycle trip. It was a perfect series! Loved those videos. If only yourself in this video could see you now.
Loved the "new style" you included in this video. The Starbucks bit was hilarious. At the same time, it's also great to see that you did eventually heed your friend's advice. You've really taken your videos up a notch with the new Journey Across Japan series, some gorgeous tracking shots in there.
This is just straight up brilliant. I genuinely LOL at several parts of this video 😂 Chris Broad, your style of presentations are informative AND entertaining 👏
