I think I recommended Conformicide to someone as "a record I would masturbate furiously to", so I guess it's nice to know I'm not alone in that sentiment 😂🤷🏾♂️🥴
I am dissappointed that you did not mention Warbringer - Weapons of Tomorrow in you shout outs. It is an awesome album on par with Woe to the Vanquished
I've only listened to V a couple of times but it didn't impress me like Conformicide did. I know people like to shit on the lyrics with that album but it was the musicianship and the song writing that stood out for me. Nick Schendzielos' bass playing was absolutely stellar on that album as was the rest of the bands playing.
Same! I love his slap bass on Conformicide! It was a really nice touch that not a lot of bands (in metal or rock) are doing and it was a nice touch. (His bass on FCP always makes me want to get up and dance!)
Great review! The production on this record really is amazingly good. Reminds me a lot of the "And Justice for Jason" remix. Awesome thrash. Also, hello kitty.
great review! been loving the singles released until now and the album totally kickass! everything - the blackened intro, riffage, drums, bass tone and schuldiner-like vocals - come together for a great album! added to the fav 2020 list!
Perfectly explained. I listened to this album on my way home from working frontline in my local hospital. It was good enough to force me to forget tuff life currently is. Thanks for the review. Thank you Havok for another amazing album.
I came here because of photo in the delivered review video,, the cat took my attention. But I loved the review. I'm fungal research in education so I loved the cover ilustration because of the mushrooms in chest of the character drawn in the sleeve. Thanks from Brazil.
BANGERTV - All Metal Thankyou all. I have been very impressed with many reviews of albums over the past 18 months. Keep up the excellent work. Regards. Jonathan.
I've always liked Havok, but have had trouble really getting totally on board. Not sure why. I'll check this one out further, though! Thanks for the review! Also Daniel must be doing some quarantine lifting - those arms looking swol!
I loved Weapons Of Tomorrow too, maybe it's just me, but the mix is a little annoying when it comes to the vocals on that one. Kevill has one of the best voices in thrash period, it's just that when it's "storytelling-time" it actually drowns out the music. Lyrics and themes are Kevill's forte, but for me at least, the music comes first. Maybe that's why Sanchez's lyrics doesn't bother me thaaat much😂
Not gonna lie, I only clicked because of the cat in the thumbnail. Now stoked for the record though. Traveler is a banger, really stoked for Wolftooth.
Love the new album post truth era, phantom force, comsetric surgery are my favorite tracks have you checked out weapons of tomorrow by warbringer omg its amazing the black hand reaches out, firepower kills, Notre dame (king of fools), and glorious end amazing closer for the album THRASH TIL DEATH cheers 🍻 Dekay
Yeah for me it used to maybe be Havok > Warbringer but after their last two albums it's definitely now Warbringer > Havok. This album let me down. Some decent parts but I was bored overall
make sure to check out the new Valdrin coming out. super grim and epic 90's influenced metal with guitar pedal keyboards instead of actual keys. hands down, my most anticipated release
RU-vid put the track uploads from this album in my feed so I figured I'd give it a shot... I'm pleased to see them toning back the lyrics after feeling utterly alienated by Unnatural Selection and Confirmicide, but even so while I enjoy Time is Up I must admit I'm just a bigger fan of the style they had with the Burn lineup. My personal favorite tracks are Fate Controls and Havok, both songs that unfortunately didn't make it past the Pwn 'em All EP to receive the tune-up Identity Theft, The Root of Evil, and To Hell did for Burn. So yeah, my impression of what I've heard so far on this album is that it's listenable, but hasn't captured my interest.
I used to listen to Time Is Up quite a bit 7-8 years ago, along with other thrash revivalist bands - Vektor, Hexen, Evile. I know that Hexen disbanded, but does anyone know if any of the guys involved have been in other projects? They were my favourite of the bunch.
Perfectly stated, I agree with everything you said, but I do enjoy the lyrics. Not nearly as in your face as Conformicide but still good. Also that Traveler album rips hard.
This is the best thrash I've heard in a few years. I think the last really impressive albums I've heard were havok and warbringers previous albums. Coincidentally V and Weapons of tomorrow are some of the best metal of this year too
Havok rule. Definitely one of the most killer bands. Not sure if you have already but did you review the latest Lost Society album? Their producer on it (Joonas Parkkonen) is Finland's Bob Rock and a guitarist you may like, imagine Slash meets Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom). Plus LS's guitarists also rule. Also Sweden's Dynazty are another killer band.
I cant decide which record is best... Warbringers newest or havoks newest.... they are so damn epic! No bad songs. Just pure class from start to finish!
I loved the new album. The message is good too. Its understandable why they yell the way they do to get their point across. They capture how lots of people feel
We were bummed we couldn't get a review together in time for release because of Covid but we still tried to show some Testament love with that raw & uncut interview we posted last week. Check it out!
Anyone else still disappointed by the lack of a Trivium review? At least it's Havok, saw these guys play Vancouver in 2018 with Suicidal Tendencies and they killed it!
I was gonna pay you out for once again telling us you had met the band. But then you made us meet your cat. I understand now that meeting is important to you.
I do think that David's lyrics are a slight improvement from the last album. But yeah, he isn't the most eloquent spokesperson for these ideas haha. It helps that they're doing thrash metal though, as it's an acceptable genre to write really blunt and over-the-top lyrics.
Solid album by Havok but Warbringer put out not only the best thrash album of 2020 but my favorite metal album of 2020 (so far)! Warbringer are my Thrash Daddy
