Their visors should have automatically deployed when the nuke detonated. It's an automatic function that's built into AIRWOLF to protect its crew in the event of flash blindness.
Hawke turned 180 degrees due south to escape the blast wave. Airwolfs cockpit was facing away from the flash from the explosion. So the visor wouldn't have dropped because the flash was at their 6o'clock.
Didn’t realise till I’m grown up. How the series recast the same actors in different parts. Eddie was the senator in the pilot episode of airwolf. Star Trek TNG used to do exactly the same. Doesn’t matter one bit to me. I was obsessed with airwolf as a kid.
A lot of the old shows in the 80s used to do that especially shows like Airwolf. Knight Rider. A team and the Dukes of Hazzard. Great American Hero. Magnum PI. Star Trek next Generation and many many more.I actually believe I almost all of the shows from the 80's did.
And don't forget about the Under Secretary of National Security in season one ended up as the Sherrif in the "Sweet Britches" episode where Catlin first apears. Lol That was wierd seing him there. Lol

Air Wolf is globe traversing, low orbit flying deterrent that can penetrate airspaces, bomb a target and get out. Police needs vs army needs. Both have environments where they thrive... ... But yeah. Air Wolf would win in a fight.
Sad that after possibly coming close to death along with millions of innocent people dying if Hawke couldn’t intercept that nuke, Eddie chose to return to the bottle after Dom said his goodbye at the end of this episode.
as a pilot that would have been hard to do.. in a helicopter like that... you need both hands to fly as well as both feet.......not sure if you knew that....one hand on the collective and the other on the cylic or the stick between your legs...

Anyone notice that during the turbo engagement sequence, there was a sound effect left out? Because they used it during the flyby. But, I love the episode.
An EMP is stronger the higher the altitude the nuke explodes; in this case, it was almost ground level, so the EMP effects would be minimal. Even so, every military electronics is hardened for EMP anyways... not only secretive/"firm" equipment. But the shock wave, not the EMP, could have stalled the aircraft indeed... but considering it does other impossible things like flying belly up, that's piece of cake.
Think about this in reality, the B25 Enola Gay dropped the 1st Atom Bomb in Japan, in today's world not a very fast aircraft to get away from the blast for that time considering it didn't shoot the bomb as if it were a missile, bomb doors open drop and get away from overhead.....now in today's jet world you can use a missile to do shoot down another missile and have time to fly away to avoid such a blast and EMPs
just how much stock footage or whatever was used in a show like airwolf, considering that airwolf almost always seems to be flying over desert, the same missiles seemed to be being used, and generally airwolf keeps doing the same flying pattern, and don`t even get me started on the 4th series where they keep using so much old footage that it becomes almost an embaressement.

Aashesh paul I get it, but it was always funny in some of these episodes when he would say”I need backup can’t do it alone” but then in other episodes he did it by himself
