Hawk Helium Mini Stick Review is all about checking out the new Hawk mini sitcks, these are a nice budget stick for anyone just starting in the mobile game or anyone who doesn't want to spend a lot of money.
I tried to do my best to show all the features of these sticks as well as a couple short comings but these sticks are definitely worth the money in my book!
If you like the video please subscribe to the page, I have many more equipment videos coming in the next few weeks! I appreciate the strong support the page has been getting!

I appreciate all your reviews. Last year I hunted with the 30" Hawk sticks combined with amsteel daisy chains. Loved the setup, except as you mentioned, the length of the sticks would often times get me hung up while backpacking through brush. I just picked up the Hawk 20" four pack for $110. For that price, you can't go wrong. They now come with a daisy strap (not amsteel) instead of the cam buckle system. At a total weight of around 9lbs (for four sticks & amsteel), that's only a couple of pounds heavier than their more expensive competition. Three or four pounds on your back shouldn't make or break your setup, especially if you are physically prepared to drag out a 150ish lb animal. By the numbers: 19" spacing between sticks, and a 17" step-to-step distance will net a vertical ascent of 3' per stick. That's why it's not surprising that this four pack yields about a 12' total height. Adding in Backwoods Mobile Gear's "versa aider" will get you approximately an additional 6' and only weighs two ounces. Plus, the versa aider doesn't stay attached to each stick, to swing in the breeze. Additionally, you don't have to find the toe loop when descending. It's a pretty slick package. Best of luck to you this fall. Looking forward to you being back up to 100% health, and following along as you chase these incredible creatures.

Thanks for the detailed response!! I sold my hawk minis a year or so ago but just bought another pack of 4 for $100 so im pretty excited to see if they fixed the suction cup issues!! Im gonna make video on them kinda checking back in to see how they are now. I did get some versa style straps too! Good luck to you in 2022!!

@@MichiganGreatOutdoors The sticks that I received still have the well documented suction cup issue. Some reviewers act like it's the end of the world, but in reality a few minutes with a rotary tool or a knife cleans up the inside lip perfectly well. I saw that Midway had the 4 pack of mini sticks on sale for $100; it's hard to go wrong at that price-point. However, I'm not a fan of the daisy strap they provide. Maybe early season they would be OK. I imagine it would be cumbersome to work the loops open in the cold or with gloves on. I'm not wishing summer away, but there's only 4 more months until another deer season is upon us! 🦌

I picked up a set of 4 for 100 bucks brand new They came with the new “daisy straps.” I’m not sure if I’ll like them being what if you have to loop the next hole and the strap sags. I might end up using the “buckeless method” with the daisy straps instead. Before this I had the Tethrd Skeletor Sticks. I ended up selling them and got the heliums. I saved over 100 bucks by switching, not sure if I’ll regret that in the future Good stuff you got here. You’ve helped me pick out some gear already.

Sharpening the teeth on these stick’s stand-offs makes a world of difference. The “Chinesium” doesn’t take much work to get sharp and the mod helps significantly on hard barked trees.

It would be so cool to see the folks with Novix come out with a good, lightweight double step stick that didn’t cost much more than the Lone Wolf sticks. I used to run them years ago but am hesitant to go back to single steps. For the life of me I can’t decide on a buckle-less attachment system so I suppose I’ll stick with the original strap and buckle with silencing material on my Helium’s. I took the buckle off to test the buckle-less method the other day and found that the cam buckle clearly got the strap tighter. As for Amsteel or rope mods, I’m inclined to believe that nothing is going to hold a stick in place better than a strap, for the surface area gripping the tree opposed to a round rope, no matter the diameter. As for getting height, though, I was so impressed with the cable aiders I got from Double Step that I bought a second set for my second set of Helium’s. Might not be for everyone, but they’re always open when you go to step in them. Backwoods Mobile has a cool, moveable step aider I’d love to see some reviews on, though.

Hey Michigan public land hunter looking to go to lighter mobile setup, my struggle is what about back pack? I'm hiking 2 miles in and going to butcher in the field and hike meat out, plus all my calls, water, misc gear. Pushing me to consider saddle hunt but saddle + platform is a lot more than a ultralight stand and not much time to practice a radically different setup.

You provided great detailed information. Have you used XOP sticks? They are an alternating step design that feel great on the tree; but they wear me out getting them to the tree. I prefer my Lone Wolf sticks for set up; because they just seem faster. I have Summit Buck Steps because I like having two foot rests at each level. It seems they don’t fit as securely to the tree. Perhaps the Hawk Minis would be a good addition. It seems the V Bracket that attaches to the tree does not pivot on the Hawks. What is your opinion of that?

@MichiganGreatOutdoors
@MichiganGreatOutdoors 4 года назад
Yes very true, but they also purchase products based of specifications and weights. So they want a personal tent that weights 1.5 lbs and comes in over 2lbs that's an issue if that happens for 20 items going in that 60lbs pack. This isn't a video to show how tuff or strong you are this is a video to show what the real weight of the product is. No more no less. This is solely a stick review. Also a 2 mile long trek through waist deep swamp can be just as tough and at the end you have to hang a stand quietly and get setup. Thanks for watching.
