I work for Boeing at the Renton factory, and Senator Hawley stated my concerns verbatim. It's like our management is in a separate world. After that door plug departed the Alaska aircraft mid-flight, there was there was a big show made of "correcting our shortcomings". They held that "safety stand down" and a week later all of the employee input on how to fix the quality issues was tossed out the window and nothing changed. Management here needs to be purged and replaced with people that have actual engineering background.
I will say it's enjoyable watching someone "untouchable" get asked all the hard questions. Still it's 1 hard day for a guy who's going to make ~100M in 4 years while doing pretty much nothing while in charge. He also used company funds and private jets for his personal vacas during his reign
I'm at the everett plant. Same here brother. The parts we get are shit and they will do anything and everything to get that plane out and check it off the list and please the bean counters.
He sells total silence and no accountability to the board for some millions and they buy it, no one cares about the company no board they onky cares stocks either the CEO who is looking for his last big check knowing law is in his favor and he will never steps jail.
About time the fed govt started to focus on the real root or cause of inflation; the greed of corporate and board directors of every big company!! This senator should be the next president! Not Trump or Biden!!!!
No he has terrible views and politics. Hes great in this back and forth, but overall he has terrible political views; hes a reactionary, theocratic, strongly socially conservative, trump loyalist.
We are all working for the Stock Holders. As long as their returns keep coming in, they will keep approving the CEO Salary Package. Pure Profit motivation. Stock holders could not care less about the workers. This is the sad truth. And most large Stock ownership is by Blackrock and Vanguard.
@@RealSerie26 I think if it’s like that then the Boeing CEO should never have gotten a raise in the first place. Why are there so many major problems with the programs under calhoun, but he makes 30M a year?
@@zara658I'm from India I don't know much about the post in the government of US,so by your saying shall I take it he is in a powerful post ?and if he is in a political party is he having the highest post? I could probably Google it but I won't get the real answer if you know what I'm saying!😂
Nah I doubt it right now. If he tried for higher office, maybe. But right now Hawley gives people a lot of "false hope". These clips look amazing, people think he's fighting the good fight and things are changing. But realistically these clips probably don't amount to much and if they did follow ups I doubt many if any these people got fined or put in jail. Hawley is mostly a toothless dog barking at the mailman. It looks impressive but nothing happens.
Yeah because the senate doesn't make arrests. They use hearings only to publicize issues affecting Americans in order to build public support for passing potential legislative regulation and its associated penalties with the added benefit of making the case for senators' reelection. They can also make referrals to the DoJ or pressure them to take action should they feel that they've built enough public support - and that's where you come in, when you call your senator's office to pat em on the back for the hearing, and to encourage them to continue taking action.
Agreed but nothing ever happens to these peoplethat come in. I appreciate Hawley but we are sick of this empty political theater. We want accountability and prison for all these douche bags like Calhoun, Garland, Mayorkas etc etc
I must say this as a Boeing shareholder, a piece owner of the company and a quality professional. I was there. My name is Daryl Guberman and I’m gonna say this to everyone David Calhoun should’ve been been prepped not even as lawyers could’ve made him that inept honestly that’s the way he is. I have studied just about one of his interviews and he is not a good leader, he’s a good golfer maybe but not a good leader.
He was already going to resign, obviously. And Calhoun will be replaced with another CEO that has to figure out how to keep the company from being bought out by a foreign competitor. Why? Because Hawley doesn't even understand that nobody pays taxes, it's an impossibility, everyone passes around their "tax" to others and so WE are creating fake money, permitting the government to inflate the value of our time in production and this creates periods of stress where the consumer must wait to recover their purchasing power as this fake money makes it's way around the economy. Hawley's solution to inflation, penalties against companies that charge too much. Guess who will pay for the penalties, not sure, ask yourself, where do companies get money to pay penalties. He should know by now as people like me have told him, businesses don't pay taxes, their consumers do, and where does the consumer get their pay from to afford such extravagance, from other people, and where do those people get that money from. We have taxation that our great grandparents were confronted with stil floating around in the prices of everything we produce and sell. And does Hawley acknowledge this? No. Josh Hawley is like all the other socialist nincompoops out there, he's a desperate phony moron. He is not a real Republican. How to actually solve inflation, give the tax payer a choice, they can either continue to pay the tax, creating fake money out of thin air or they can deduct that amount from their next years income, earning less, reevaluating the value of their time in production, reducing prices. Money represents only one thing, people's time, and nothing has value until somebody spends time on it. When the government taxes, it is inflating the value of their time, while they do not produce more product with that time.
@@CINO0816Maybe after a few elections. I believe Hawley is exactly where he should be. He does a fine job of representing the views of his constituents. Also, he is never caught slacking. The man does his research.
How exactly does one fire a CEO? - I mean sure, board of directors via investors may work. But that'd mean hurting their own stock value. Money over morality is the law of the land anymore.
@@ScarecrowActual On the contrary. Keeping him on as CEO can continue to damage the stock value, while replacing him with an experienced and competent CEO can increase the stock price. The Board of Directors needs to find a new CEO and file an injunction against him ASAP if they want to save the company. Boeing, just as any other US company is not invincible. They have a lot more to lose besides stock valuation, they can start losing out on government subsidies and defense contracts due to their continuing actions and mismanagement.
@@S.Lukeee it isn't but they werte fined and their insurance carrier paid out those fines and payouts to the families. Boeing it's self paid nothing to anyone, so no one lost money at Boeing then they got to declare it on their taxes, and got that money back.
@seanbrella2446 If you understand fiduciary duty, you would understand that he clearly broke laws. Thus, prison time is an acceptable form of punishment. Once you start holding C-Levels accountable for their actions and those who report to them, thats when you will see true change and better corporate governance 😉
America is a business. Board members will pay the CEO immense salaries for more profits. Think about it. Increase in profits means higher stock price. The board members and CEO’s are shareholders as well. It not right but some companies get too greedy and focus on stock buy backs and cutting cost. I’m an investor myself but I look for quality companies with good management team.
He doesn’t care. These are the kind of CEO’s that have sold their soul and don’t feel anything. They only care about share price, stock value and their personal compensation / bonuses. It’s a travesty and a disgrace what these greedy beancounters have reduced a great engineering company like Boeing to its current sorry state.
he is scary strong...i think he would be frightening scary behind closed doors....no one wants to be a whistle blower under his watch....given his record a honorable person would not only squirmed but probably resigned... and i still remember japanese CEOs committed suicide for far lesss...
He's not squirming. He doesn't care. It's the American way for profit above everything else, so in his delusion he's a rockstar and the senator is a paper pusher doing theatre.
The entire Boeing hierarchy should be in jail, the amount money they have literally gained from their knowingly dangerous airworthy aircraft is sickening to the gut.🤮
Yeah , he was impressive here, he really was, he's intelligent. but he's a Christen Nationalist who will destroy our democracy. He wants to to make the USA a Christian Theocracy. To control every square inch of human existence because it's all under the domain of the lord Jesus Christ. Google this.
The country needs more Men like senator Hawley! Thank you senator for what you do for the safety of the American people and all the people visiting the USA ❤🇺🇸 ❤.
Me too! I’m registered Dem and vote independent when there’s not a clown as an option and I love Hawley. This guy gets shit right. Republicans need to replace him for Trump. This registered Dem would vote for him in a heartbeat!
In a perfect world he would get more than jail time. Unfortunately that’s not the world we live in and definitely not the country we live in. This douche will come through still wealthy a/f and completely unscathed.
I’m so glad Senator Hawley put this piece of garbage into place! I hope he goes for Presidency and saves us from corporate greed but for the trash CEO hope he rots in jail. “Why haven’t you resigned?” YES!!!
Other than the admonishment on television, nothing will happen to this man. Congressional hearings accomplish nothing in the way of actual, tangible punishment and/or change. People act like the ass chewing will make any difference, and it won’t. Hawley says what needs to be said, but nothing follows hearings like this.
My father worked in Seattle on the 787 project in the early 2000's, and he would tell me how Boeing was outsourcing everything and purging their own engineers. Any talk about fixing this broken safety culture should have happened 20 years ago. Its too little too late in my opinion.
@jzakary1 My dad worked for McDonnell Douglas his whole adult life, before it was bought by Boeing. If he were still alive today, he would be appalled by all the shit going on!
@jzakary1 the CEOs especially the one in 2000, have run this former wonderful company right into the ground. My brother worked there for 25 years. Refused to train on 787 because of MCAS etc. They got rid of engineers in house. At least many of them have worked on the Embraers. Think this is a very nice plane btw
@@carolynellis387from the limited info I know, Boeing was once a great company. However when taking over MDC, the care for safety went out the window, money was the only thing important. I agree about Embraer being an amazing company and aircraft too.
We need more laws that will stop shipping US jobs overseas to low paid, unqualified, workers. This is happening rampantly across not only the aviation field but also IT and many others.
More ‘republicans’ (I.e. people Dems consider conservative) feel this way than you think. I would be considered a conservative and it’s a shame what these CEOs make, while, in this case, the workers only got a 1% raise in like 10 years. The C level (as stated in these hearings) is a major problem in corporate America. It’s obvious the problems with Boeing but the culture of covering it up and ignoring it and bullying and putting whistleblowers always comes from the top.
There is a long post of evil people to take over, when Calhoun leaves at the end of the year. Removing him is unlikely to help, although I'm hopeful the next salesman making engineering safety decisions is slightly better.
@@Golden2Talonexactly... So far 384 lives were lost and we don't know how many other Boeings planes have built in materials taken out of the factory's QM garbage to keep the delivery deadlines...
Runs the company into the ground and takes them to the cleaners for a huge pay rise. This is ridiculous. Clearly the board is culpable here. He should be fired and his entire compensation package should be distributed amongst the workers based on performance.
Calhoun should serve a prison sentence for insider trading and be stripped of all his Boeing earnings. He is obviously guiding bad business decisions in order to maximize the profits for shareholders who are being illegally tipped-off about the best times to short their Boeing stock. Short-selling profits for private Boeing shareholders reach almost $384 million from the last year alone. This is not normal.
Thank you very much. Missouri prides itself on not voting for those that talk a big game, but for those that show they have a big game. I am from Missouri, and you have got to Show-Me.
@jordan9604 All our factory work in Massachusetts disappeared decades ago, and guess where. The federal government destroyed our fishing industry. Decades ago, we had over 600 vessels, and now we don't even have 200. They're where thousands of jobs not long ago, and now Massachusetts is spending 47 million every month just to house illegal immigrants, never mind free food, clothing, and laundry services and they get a debt card with free money every month, they live better than most working class people. My property tax went up 7.6% last year, every year it's 2 or 3%, but that's more than double. Our governor Healy just signed into law allowing illegal immigrants driving licenses so they can vote this year and there not even American citizens 🙄
@@captpain1 That is ridiculous and I hope you all keep fighting it. I am tired of our government using tax dollars to try and buy votes. They will do anything to keep the last shreds of power that they have.
Just like the senator said: he was hired to cust costs, nothing more. Actually, for this task, it's better if you can claim you didn't know afterwards.
9:15 listen to the stats the senator throws out about the increase in stock price and money returned to shareholders. This is the exact reason why someone like this guy gets the job. The people that have the power to out this guy are also the ones he is helping benefit the most. Literally filling all their pockets while destroying the quality of the company from the inside out and disregarding any care for their employees or the American people.
A barbecue by Hawley. Loved it. This is exactly how quick, concise , competent and caring a Senator should be when it comes to profit vs. safety for the American people. I won't always agree with him, but this was well done.
I worked as a supplier from a German company. Had many visits in the US in different facilities from different companies. You know as an engineer within 5 min what is the background of the management and who is the owner. Private equity owner are by far the worst!
😳 $33 Million with a 45% pay raise 😵💫🤢 AND he does not incorporate any recommendations for safety. No wonder why Boeing wants to buy the door maker company. Outrageous to say the least‼️ The Dawn 🧼 is commonly used as the oil cutting properties is great.
$32.8 million? I make less that $35,000/year, at 60 I can't afford to buy a house and I work non-stop. My social security is going to be less than $1000/mo. How do you fix that?
