Hi Greg I've been watching your videos on the mowers with the hayter and toro prostripe, also the one on repairing the prostripe 56. I was a golf greenkeeper 34 years,all our kit was toro. I am now a self employed gardener 6 years and been using hayter pro's.After a a year or so you've been working with the pro stripe do you still recommend it and how good is the wet pickup compared with the hayter.
Hello Sean. Since my video where we had the Hayter Toro Stihl Honda comparison I have sold the 56 pro. That’s over 2 years ago now. Prostripe has done 3 seasons now. Longest I’ve kept a main mower before. I have an upgrade package to install on it for the this season, just includes the updates that all 2022 56pro and prostripe will feature as standard. In the damp it’s quite good but anything more it struggles mainly due to the mesh bag. Dave the lawn guy has put out a video about a high lift blade for the 56 pro which I told him about. I’ve been using it on the prostripe for most of 2021 and it makes a world of difference. Something to consider if you purchase a prostripe. I still consider the prostripe the best large roller mower out there. Stihl probably collects better in the wet but a smaller cutting width by an inch and a very smooth narrow roller means it slips on slopes a lot more, even very slight slopes and makes a mess of mud quite easily and it’s not as ergonomic as the prostripe/Hayter design. Hello Greg, Thank you for the video, it looks like the lawnmower is going well and collecting the grass well for the time of year. Is the Toro Prostripe the same as the Hayter 56 pro lawnmower? Would you purchase another one? This year I purchased a Weibang Legacy 56 pro, I don't carry out much grass cutting now. However, I like to be able to use a decent machine, so far, so good. It's not bad in wet grass, a big improvement on the old Hayter 56 mowers that I used for years. The only downside is probably the weight, however, I can put up with that if it does the job!

@@GregsMowing Thank you, Greg, yes it does help. At 66 kg the Toro is not much lighter than my Weibang 56 Pro which apparently weighs 68.5 kg. I believe that all the roller rotary's struggle a bit with wet grass, however, the Weibang is a massive improvement on the previous model Hayter. It's great that Hayter has changed the drive system, with a gearbox, I'm sure that's a great improvement. I believe I paid £1300 including VAT for the Weibang, I guess the Toro is a similar price? @@GardenEquipmentReview which old 56 are the referring too? The previous shape which had a gearbox was poor in any damp grass. The old wide chute ones were way better and these current ones match those performance and in some ways are better. I sold a second hand weibang 56 pro and omg how heavy and cumbersome that machine is. Hayter are lot nicer to use and move about. The Hayter 56 pro is 59kg and that has BBC. Prostripe 66kg also BBC. Considering the weibang has same engine as the Toro but their own 3 speed box which is about 3-4 times heavier than the one used in the Toro. It’s a very bulky mowers esp as it has no BBC. I think both weibang and Toro are around £1600 now. Maybe more.
@@GregsMowing Thank you for your reply, Greg. I believe I'm referring to the model before the present model. This was the model that superseded the original 56 models with the wide chute that had the side drive PTO transmission. I still use a customers Hayter Harrier 56, it is much lighter than the Weibang, however, the drive is appalling and the collection isn't brilliant. I guess there is for and against for every machine. I certainly wouldn't mind trying the Toro one day as it definitely looks like a good option. The blade clutch is a great idea, something that the Weibang doesn't have.
Hi Andrew, you're best of contacting Hayter and finding out where you're nearest Toro main dealer is, then you should be able to buy from there. For some reason not all Hayter dealers can sell them. Hope that helps.
