Nicely done, Mikael, and a great way to spend an evening! Great to be able to mix and match, and reuse some redundant parts - and voila! A "new" RC is born! Looks like it has the potential to be a fun runner. Just need to get a funky colour on that clear body and add some random stickers / decals that you have lying around in a drawer somewhere, and you have made this rig truly yours! :)
Thank you, Mark! Yeah, it was a great evening. And very cheap (free). I didn’t have that many funky colors that I wanted to use on this but I had a couple of PS-5 leftovers. So went with a quick ‘stealth’/boring look this other evening. So two evenings (first more fun than the other) and a ‘new’ RC to try out 🙂
Yeah, I just wish they had made decals for it for the details at least, lights etc). The clear body was supplied as an extra body for the rebranded RTR ‘Ranger’ by 2fast2fun.
Wow you really transformed these rcs in to something special!!! I like the options you have with the monster truck body's. Well done thanks for sharing😊
Hi Rob! Yeah, metal can be great. But the metal shock towers on these feel more like butter than metal though :-) And plastic bends back ... and well, yes, can break. All well here, my friend. Hope everything is well with you too. Saw the title of your video, the house is finished! Must find some time to watch it soon!
Ahh, yes. I couldn't find a matching plastic pair that evening! So I had to re-use the alloy ones. Might weaken the chassis and suspension mounts but it might also help with steering with a little more weight in front.
Why do they put holes in the chasis? It's not like its gonna save weight and make a difference for an off roader. It will just create vulnerability and weak points on the chasis.
For the battery etc? Yeah, nowadays with LiPos it doesn’t make sense, but this chassis was designed back when NiMH was still standard. Could make a little sense for the motor still, but I agree, if it’s a problem I would prefer a fan or two instead.
