This might sound stupid but I think that David gilmours solos are some of the best of all time because he plays what HE WANTS… not what he thinks people are gonna think is super cool and flashy. He PLAYS what he likes. Which in turn makes him play where his fingers take him cuz his fingers are translating what his soul is telling them. These are solos from the heart and soul. World class solo!!!
When listening to this type of instrumental beauties, like Marooned itself, one can clearly see and finally understand that David plays what he feels and he just plays for himself. That is his secret, his success lives inside of him, and that is why I love him.
Beethoven. Mozart. Chopin. Gilmour. Talent and soul and musicality are not measured by the notes per second... rather by the truth, emotion, and skill that back them. This man will long be o legend and a STANDARD in his medium Long live Gilmour, long live Floyd. ♥ ♥️

They say the epitome of art is the conveyance of emotion. It is amazing that this song can convey the sadness, pain and anguish one would feel being of marooned alone without any lyrics. Perfection in musical art.
That look on that guitar combined with that sound it just cries is just nothing short of perfect. One of the reasons why I'll never leave my Fenders. Thank you Gilmour!
Completely agree with you Rhonda. Just imagine having just a fraction of David Gilmour talent. And imagine if you were able to give just one person such a pleasurable experience. He is a total phenomenon and has given untold musical pleasure to untold millions across the whole world. And he hasn't even been knighted. I am in absolute awe of him.
David IS absolutely the best guitarist..I don't care what any "guitar poll" in a magazine says..(obvious bad taste😒) Check out the video someone made for Marooned using Hubble telescope images 🪐( w/ some digital space stuff also)..it's incredible with this amazing piece of music...takes you up in the sky 100 million miles away.🪐

Those notes at 4:05 onwards, just makes my body shudder, this music is so amazing! Been listening to the Endless River on repeat since monday, Gilmour's guitar work is perfection in music :)
nobody can make a guitar wail like Gilmour can. sure there have been better players, but none that get the emotion that Gilmour does. fantastic song by a fantastic player
Oh man... Hearing this just digs deep into my soul. Thanks to my mom I grew up listening to these guys. This happens to be my lullaby at night❤ I could hear this over and over and not get tired of it, I was born to be a pink floyd fan. The way the drums and guitar and keyboard sound OMGOSH... I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! ☺☺
Give me this over mindless shredding any day. How is it possible to put so much feeling and emotion in those notes. Dave is an absolute master of his instrument.

Probably one of the best songs i've ever heard. I cannot describe in words what i just felt. My eyes are probably as bright as the sun because there is so much water on the eye lens. If i would die sooner than expected, i would gladly die if this piece of music was the last thing i heard. Thanks for the uploader!
I think hearing this music played live would easily and by far surpass any other experience in my life, lived or yet to be lived.. a masterpiece like no other, a journey in the form of a perfect melody. I can only imagine how it would feel.
That’s the “Daphne Blue” Strat. Serial number 0001…. He played marooned live only once with his Red Strat and it was honestly a bad choice. That’s why he’s only played this song live twice and the last time it was played on Daphne… That’s the guitar he came up with the song and played in the studio recording of marooned. That’s why he used it for this occasion. It’s the only time that Strat has been used in a live gig by Gilmour. And he played marooned on it…. I hope the audience realizes how historically significant this was. Maybe they didn’t realize right then. But in time they have to have figured out how incredible this was to see live.
@@theboofin he’s using a lot more than a whammy pedal… A lot. Every guitar has its own sound. No matter how many effects you run through. What you’re thinking is a good wammy pedal, is actually an octave pedal. There’s delay, sustain, compression, and possibly a little flange. The guitar itself though, is what makes the sound. You can’t plug 2 guitars into the same effects and get the same sound. That’s why guitarist’s have and use several guitars all the time.
@@theboofin that’s not a wammy pedal. That’s and octave pedal. I literally play this fucking song and and have the octave pedal on my Boss ME70 to change the pitch like that. Wammy does not change the octave that drastic. It’s an octave pedal. Look it up….
The absolute master of this style of playing. To me, he is alone in a universe of guitar sound that he has created himself. Page has some of rocks greatest solos ever and Beck is brilliant also, just to name 2 who are still alive. David Gilmour has that very rare gift of being able to really make us feel emotion. This one here, Marooned, belongs with the 2 others i love the most, Comfortably Numb and Time.
David Gilmour ... or as I call him, the soul bender. With every note he bends and sustains, you can almost imagine butterflies dancing around him; he is that graceful a player.
