I was there at Download that year, I was there to see Megadeth, Soundgarden and Black Sabbath who were on the same stage, I think I waited about 7 hours in that one spot, I even deprived myself of water so that I wouldn't have to leave. I will always treasure that I got to see Soundgarden.
1996... was the last time I have seen them live.. it was here in my hometown in Germany... Down on the Upside tour. October 1996... still have the Ticket here. This is one of my favourite Songs.. along with "the day I tried to live". One of the best Concert in my entire life. I am 38 now.. and I am proud to know Soundgarden!
Damn, his voice still sounds amazing… people don't realize how difficult it is to sing with that kind of range (low to high, falsetto, and screaming, all in the same song, back to back, show to show) for so long, and still not miss a note. They were always the best band of the 90s… Defined metal in grunge, etc. They rock harder than ever now. Their new album is certainly the best since Superunknown. I also heard Tool delayed release of their new album when this came out; filled up too much of the already hard-to-get music sales in the Rock genre… which is sad
Just saw them on Lima - Perú last night and this song was AMAZING! Is voice was better than ever on this show. I hope they comeback soon. It was one of the best shows I have ever seen and Ben is really the coolest dude alive lml OUTSHINED! OUTSHINED! OUTSHINED!
IMO the Soundgarden sound is aggression and heft, but always measured, crafted and in control despite the complexity. That is also Matt Cameron's drumming - so its a perfect fit. The whole Pearl Jam thing has more of an awesome reckless abandonment to it. Cameron drums the same way in both - but his approach fits Soundgarden that much more. I think Jack Irons is the quintessential PJ drummer.
How I wish we'd protect more people like Chris for they are definitely a heritage . They have given us so much while yet suffering from the inside. This whole world of music should have a look at this because it's killing the people who've taken it to another level and have made it unique because , if not, in the end , it will remain with nothing. Janis Joplin, Elvis, Chris Cornell , Michael , John Bonham , George Michael ...the list keeps on becoming bigger.
Chris' voice at his top! Best version of Outshined i will ever hear -> 2:25 - 2:38 -> 3:50 - 4:15 Hearing this is like externalizing the pain and torment blocked inside of me
the 2nd july i was in Villafranca near Verona(Italy) to see them... 300 kilometers from where i live.. and 300km to go back home.. :D ..and it was F***ing amazing... two side notes.. Chris give his shirt to a fan that gave him earlier an italian country flag... and Ben at the end of the last song give his bass guitar to a fan from the first row... omg.. :D i have uploaded one song.. Soundgarden - Blow Up the Outside World - Verona, Italy (02.07.2014)
just saw SOUNDGARDEN at the mac in Longbranch NJ I was in awe throughout the entire show. Enough said you have to see these guys true musicians no BS.....
I got up feeling so down I got off being sold out I've kept the movie rolling But the story's getting old now I just looked in the mirror Things aren't looking so good I'm looking California And feeling Minnesota, oh yeah So now you know, who gets mystified Show me the power child I'd like to say That I'm down on my knees today It gives me butterflies Gives me away Till I'm up on my feet again I'm feeling outshined Someone let the dogs out They'll show where the truth is The grass is always greener Where the dogs are shedding I'm feeling that I'm sober Even though I'm drinking I can't get any lower Still I feel I'm sinking So now you know, who gets mystified Show me the power child I'd like to say That I'm down on my knees today It gives me butterflies Gives me away Till I'm up on my feet again I'm feeling outshined
I saw these guys at Lollapalooza 92'.......with Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry, Ice Cube and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Unbelievable lineup. I didn't know how lucky I was.
Hell Yeah It Ain't Dead! I still play drums, smoke pot, fly the flannel flag, & rock out to some of the best Grunge in the world! Grunge will always live!
So glad I can say I was hear for this. You dont realise it at the time but Im so grateful I was to see all these bands. Lets be honest music nowadays is shit
soundgarden guitar parts are so hard to play while singing not because they are technical/shred-ish, but because of the really odd time signatures and sudden shifts and changes in the riffs (rusty cage for example). without the guitars, chris can really put all of his focus on the singing
He probably just trained it, but everyone with a tenor voice, trained enough can sound like him :) but he and Eddie Vedder are my favorite singers on the world!
I am a fan of Chris Cornell but unfortunately I knew him after his death, I always liked rock music but as I’m from Brasil in my region people don’t listen to rock too much, what I grow up listening was influence from friends band.... no one never came and said like “look this band called soundgarden, and I was young at the begging of my teenage I didn’t have computer to search for others bands, my first band I loved was black sabbath and Izzy because they were popular between the rock m rollers of my city, I wish I could knew soundgarden, today I live in UK I’m a fan of Cornell, sorry for being late
