Hay Everyone A couple things have been asked after the completion of the review of the HDZero Monitor. Unfortunately there was also a segment not in the final edit that should have been on frame rates. I can confirm the following. HDZero 90fps The monitor can receive the 90fps footage and infact the footage you seen was from the nano 90 in 540p mode. However the display, the DVR and hdmi output all will be 60fps in this mode. The maximum display, DVR and HDMI output is 60fps and regardless of the resolution 720p. Screen Scratches. In the video the monitor is fitted with the factory screen protection film I later removed before installing the screen protector provided as later seen. The scratches you see are on the screen protection film and not the actual screen it’s self. I will add the screen is plastic and is quite soft once removed so you 100% want to use a protector with this display. Soc correction. In the video is been pointed out I said the Hdzero monitor Soc the Star SSD8339D is the same as the Hdzero goggle. This is actually incorrect and I should have said it’s the same as the Hdzero VRX V4. The HDZero Goggles use an Alwinner based chipset running Linux where as the Monitor and VRX use Arm based SOC. Thanks Mad.
Brilliant, just what I have been waiting for before switching to HD. For someone like me that can't get on with goggles this is great. And the fact it also receives analog means I don't have to change all my gear at the same time.
An integrated snap-on battery with USB-C changing would have been nice, though you could use a USBC powerbank with a USBC-powerjack adapter - just not quite as neat as an integrated/internal one.
WOW!! Yes. Now, this is just what I am looking for. So far, I am all analog. I get really decent video from the gear on my quads and believe the de-interlacer to bring that right up to almost excellent. Plus, I would be able to move up to HD digital (HDZero of course) for some of my builds. As an advantage, I am moving away from actual goggles and going for a tri-pod mounted monitor. Interestingly, this solves a couple of issues, not the least of which, being able to fly (FPV) without a spotter. I have already checked this. No spotter needed if the monitor is not worn on the head (goggles or headset). Thank You and definitely Thank HDZero.
@@rasmus80g If youre using an external VRX, there are of portable monitors out there with HDMI in - if thats your jam. Definitely not the use-case here. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I've hacked together too many variations of cheap junk, trying to achieve what this AIO monitor/VRX does, that this was a no-brainer purchase for me.
@@peterschroedl4878 actually no there is not many monitors with hdmi in that can do 100hz with desent nits and resolution atlest no afordable option. (If you look into proffesional camera gear yes but then you pay a prety heafty premium and not any kind of of reciver built into it... so a lot of diy for analog hdzero and caddex in one go...) Please give me some options if so. I have several monitors and al is missing something.... like I said if this monitor was like the goggles then it would be a hit now its a hit and miss...
I have an old HeadplayHD headset with hdmi-in and have been waiting for something like this. I'm a screen flyer first, and goggles flyer later, i like to take off and look at my position, orientation, quad view all at the same time to help me get bearings, then once i know where everything is i will put the goggles on, having something like this would be a nice combination of both in one unit just plug a hdmi into my goggles for HD fpv. I'm looking forward to trying this out.
This is really interesting. Wondering if the HDMI out can be used in the walksnail goggles x as input and this becomes an all in one solution to bring walksnail, analog with recording to those goggles. Not sure how the latency will be and how clunky the contraption will look.
Awesome flying and review, Ian! 😃 Pretty nice little device! Too bad the analog part doesn't have diversity, but... Well, we can't have everything. Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Can you please measure the power consumption at full brightness while recording DVR from an hdzero vtx? Trying to establish the best battery to get for it. Cheers.
I was about to buy an HD Zero but then Avata 2 has been released and I bet I will wait a bit more. DJI sales are slower than back then the avata 1 sales and the whole DJI wholesale volume has decreased in the 3rd biggest market for dji. So I hope that they will release the next airunit soon and then will go for good sales in winter. Meanwhile I will get now a used unit cause they have become really cheap compared to a new HD zero system which is also none used available across the country .
Potentially to be developed as HDZ DIY or low budget fpv box goggle. Let see if there will be a 3d print file for the DIY box goggle housing or maybe HDZ will allow the skyzone & eachine to develop & produce of their own.
What's the benefit of deinterlacing in the analog feed? I still see the usual stair-stepping on any straight lines that are not perfectly horizontal/vertical. If I recall, our analog VTXs only send half of the analog video fields, hence the crappy 720x240 resolution we get, instead of the standard NTSC interlaced 720x480 resolution. So what exactly is it "deinterlacing"?
Sorry to go off topic but the Walksnail goggles X are back in stock. Should I get them or keep my Skyzone 03Os and O4X V2 as I have both, with the Walksnail Rx attached to it?? I want the big FOV and OLED, bright basically what everybody else wants. So, Goggles X or use the Skyzones? Again sorry for going off topic but the Goggles won't stay in stock too long and this channel is awesome so I figured I'd ask.
NO NEED FOR 500$ GOOGLES anymore?? is there a bind a fly with an 85mm a controller and that tiny monitor?? this can bring back drone fly to its prime, no more paywall with bunch of batteries maybe running off the remote control battery , can youcome up with a cheap combo for people who dont like the googles
No DVR playback on the monitor was a huge disappointment on my side, would not even have considered, that it can not play the dvr footage on the device.
Hit and miss... no hdmi input for hi fps. Like to try ruby and also perhaps connect caddx vrx... there is still no rule them all monitor... bought the hdzero goggles just because they work with everything.... why why Why not make the monitor the same. Any company that release a monitor with caddx or hdzero built in and also support the other will have my money...
This would be great to have for cyclists. The screen could be placed on the handle bars and a rear camera set up for live viewing of what's happening behind.
If you fly with the monitor that would count as flying los right? Also its just nice to have so other ppl can see what ur seeing eithout needing extra goggles and broadcasting and stuff like that
it dont have menu???so its not possible to watch the DVR records in the field? only pluging the SD card in other device to access the footage, right?????....
Mads should review a skyzone m5 monitor.... Wow what a peice of crap!!! Needs hdmi or av out, dvr is as bad as any, and they couldn't even bother to line up the slot in the case for the sd card to go in and out correctly, i had to dig mine out with a tiny screwdriver after inserting it... The case is like 2mm off from lining up with the trey inside. Then it has a power bug... What an awful product!!! Told them my issues and that i wanted to return it and they basically told me to pound sand and stopped replying to my emails, so i opened a PayPal claim cuz i bought it directly from skyzone, they never answered so i had to escalate... These fov companies are so terrible!!! Wish i knew this was coming it would have suited my needs better, people bitched about the price of this, but in reality there is nothing else like it and is worth the extra bones, definitely compared to this skyzone M5 pos!!!
