@@maximustrumpNope. Freddy doesn’t come anywhere near Steve! Every time I hear the stupid comment I’m gonna come back and say this over and over again because people obviously don’t know what they’re talking about. Freddy is not as good as Steve Brian May even called Steve the greatest. There’s a reason that Steve Perry was named the voice and Freddy wasn’t. Now I love Freddie Mercury and he is a talent beyond. However, he did not have the range that Steve had his singing is more forced and it’s more of an effort to get those notes out. His voice cracks both on record and live still not taking away from his greatness, but when you put him side-by-side with Steve, it is effortless for Steve Perry to hit the atmosphere with his notes come back down to the ground and bounce back up there again no effort whatsoever no breath no anything. Steve also holds his notes longer than , Fred does. I challenge you to go listen to a video on RU-vid called Steve Perry. You can’t sing this. It’s not saying Steve Perry can’t sing it. It’s saying it’s a vocal coach saying no one, but Steve can sing these ridiculous runs in the songs. it’s like five or six different journey song clips with the most insane Vocal runs in them and how Steve hits those so effortlessly with no problem whatsoever is amazing. In particular, I think it’s the last song lay it down, he plays, lay it down the record, and then ask the question whether you think Steve could repeat that insane run live and he hits it without an effort. You would not have been able to tell the difference between the record and the live version and nobody sings live as effortlessly as Steve Perry does. Sorry. You can sit there and say Freddie’s as good or Freddie’s better …he’s not. He absolutely was not. Again not saying that he wasn’t amazing but he’s not Steve Perry. No one has ever touched that and no one will. Arnell Pineda is a joke. They should’ve just ditched journey and started over with Arnel as something else because journey without Steve Perry is just a freaking cover band. Challenge me go listen to that vocal Coach playing those runs on that video I mentioned and then come back and tell me that you still think that Freddie Mercury is better or as good. He never was.
You could traverse the whole of the ever expanding universe, and still not hear any Soul and Voice like S T E V E 🎙️ P E R R Y'S- The Gods Brought him to this particular Earth 🌎.. We will be FOREVER grateful!
This is one of the best love song/ballads that I ever heard. The fact that it's from Journey just makes it that much more special to me as a Journey fan. We all know they have several songs like this in there catalogue. Open Arms, Faithfully,Why Cant This Night Go On Forever,Good Morning Girl/Stay Awhile, ect. ect...
Steve Perry has that way of touching every emotion in your body all at one time! His voice mesmerizes you pulls you in grabs your heart and won’t let go! ❤❤ He is the greatest vocalist of all time! There will NEVER be anyone that ever comes close to Steve Perry!
I’m so glad y’all see it…truly magical, Journey just gets into your very soul. I graduated in 1984 and they were the biggest group around back then and all these years later, I have never found a group or singer, God bless Steve Perry, that can sing like an angel gets deep into you and you just don’t forget it. I can listen to it a million more times and never be tired of it, all these years later. It’s a shame that they didn’t stick together, but the magic they created from 1978 until 1996 was amazing and timeless. Steve Perry currently at 76 years old and it is so hard to believe.
Right here this baby!!! My wedding song !!Dancing to this ballad with my husband July 1997. Thank you beautiful people. What a pleasant surprise. Journey is our favorite too.❤
Shawn and Mel, Thank you for Loving him, there's no one quite like him. God broke the mold when he made this one. Love, Love Love Steve Perry to the end of time❣💖💞🥰😍🤩 So happy to see you, happy and in love!
Having grown up listening to Steve Perry, and loving his and Journeys music, I can tell the era he recorded a given song. His voice started like a fine wine and only got better with age, but I do not have a favorite era, they are all perfect on their own. Great reaction!
I really love how Shawn reached over for your hand..Its awesome you guys are so close...This song breaks me down every time..( 100's of times.) Steve and the guys were the best..Like you said, something magical happens. Right to the heart...
Journey has so many great songs!! Anything Steve Perry sings becomes gold.. Wheel In the Sky & Stay Awhile from Live Osaka 1980, Captured By the Moment, Girl Can't Help It, Why Can't This Night Go On Forever, Sweet and Simple. Also Lovin Touchin Squeezin, Hopelessly in Love , The Partys Over and Mother Father from Houston Live 1981 😍
You two Shawn and Mel are amazing people. You put out such a positive loving vibe and I for one enjoy it. You're both so passionate. It's because of this your reactions have such high replay value. So thank you for bringing us such joy watching you react to these amazing artists.
Steve's voice makes you feel. He is my favorite male vocalist of all time! He released an album in 2018 at 69 years old called Traces I loved the album
Journey " Mother Father" live 1981 Houston Concert. Steve's best live vocal performance. He said it was the hardest song for him to sing. Instrumentals are awesome also.
God Bless your love for each other. Can this be one of the best love songs ever written!!! It is so wonderful to “see your world inside her eyes”. I am so blessed to have a Wife that after 43 years I still fill this way 😊❤️❤️😊
One of the best groups to ever make a song, an album, a concert...A big price was paid for us to have this wonderful music available for us to listen to us for our whole lives. Yes, Steve Perry's voice comes from his toes thru his soul and out of his lungs and mouth...sounds weird but it is true. Special singer...extraordinary and you can never forget him
"ITS JUST THE RAIN"...... "easy to fall" "STILL SHE CRIES" "IF HE SHOULD BREAK YOUR HEART" "dont b down on me baby" "WHEN I THINK OF YOU" and this one we just heard.. ""WHEN YOU LOVE A WOMAN"" are all off this great mater piece of great music. Like i said..... its their best album to date! N ive got all there stuff.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍
When this video was made, he was suffering from excrutiating pain from his hip (I think it was bone on bone). Between takes, he had to ice it down. But watching this, he shows absolutely no sign of pain or injury at all. He is a pro!
Unfortunately, I've never seen Steve and Journey live (and I probably won't again), I'm from behind the iron curtain. But their music reached us anyway, through friends, acquaintances, etc. I've always loved them and Steve, even when he went solo too. His nickname "The VOICE" fits perfectly. 👍👌 Now after 20 years I'm "discovering" him again and his love ballads like "Foolish Heart" and "When You Love A Woman" made me cry and I have them on my mobile and they are the most played in my playlist. Thanks for spreading their music... 👍👏💕💕💕
New subscriber who's loving your Journey reactions! Steve Perry could sing the phone book and I'd still get chills. If you really want to see what he can do with his voice check out "Mother, Father" live from Houston 1981 and "Still They Ride" live from Tokyo 1983.
Yes Berdy you r so right the BEST band ever NS SS JC RV & Steve they worked long & hard bc they wanted every song 2 b great and they succeeded. NS also after Shawn took Mel's hand that sold me also.
You guys clearly love good music and each other. Watching your reactions lifts my spirits and I get the added bonus of listening to music I've loved over the years. You guys are great!
Steve Perry was my MOTHER’S favorite singer. She passed in 1993 three years before this album. She was 33 years old. I’m 47 and play drums, would love to meet and write a masterpiece w/ Mr. Perry! I DEDICATE THIS SONG TO MY DEAR MOM…
You two are so beautiful and sweet together and full of love for each other!!!! It's a joy to watch you!!! I pray your marriage will last forever!!! God bless you!!!
Journey's just the shit. Steve Perry, Neil Schon, Steve Smith, Jonathan Cain & Ross Valory were the BEST lineup they ever had. And they were SO Good live. They were part of the soundtrack of my childhood.❤❤❤❤❤
Very important info about this video - Steve Perry was getting ready for a World (Reunion) Tour with Journey. He went to Hawaii for a hike and to get himself ready. In the middle of the hike. He noticed a very sharp pain in his hip. Steve called the manager telling him what all was going on. And that he was on his way back home to see a doctor. The hip was so painful, that during the breaks in the making of this video. Steve had to put bags of ice on his hip!! Long story short. Steve went to many doctors and many opinions, to seek the right move he should make. The band got tired of waiting for him. And gave Steve an ultimatum! Get the surgery so we can get on the road!! Or we go on the road without YOU!!! 1996 'Trial By Fire' was Steve Perry's last album with Journey! This last album with Steve is very good!! You guys should react to 'Still She Cries"
If you watch the video with some knowledge you didn't have before, you'll really appreciate what Steve brings to the table. He was already in excruciating pain in his hip and was icing it down between takes.I have seen Steve wearing many different things but I have never seen him wear a heavy turtleneck. So he was in anguish over his decision to leave the band and weather or not to get the surgery. I think it's that vulnerably, shining thru his face
That’s why so many of us are still here after all these decades later. There is no one like Steve, and the love that he expresses in his songs is the same love he expresses to his fans. The man is an absolute gem! Steve Perry “The Voice” will always be my favorite song bird🥰 may God continue to bless him with good health and endless creativity for I am so grateful that he is back and has continued to share his new music and projects with us.😎 please help and continue to keep this great music alive.✌🏻
That means that you both have souls because Steve music and voice touches your soul and mine as well. I grew up in Houston through the 80s and 90s and was at those journey concerts. You really need to listen to his latest songs they are bone chilling "I NEED YOU!!! " IN THE RAIN!!! "YOU BELONG TO ME!!! Steve had a girlfriend who was deeply in love with and she passed away from breast cancer. She passed away in the early 2000s they were together for less than two years. Steve has said it himself that his girlfriend told Steve to make her a promise that he would start singing again😔
You guys reactions are some of the best, because you love your music and through music you feel true feelings and thoughts all from the heart, God Bless
@@michaelasay8587, Hey Michael, no I did't see Joan, Loverboy open for them. I might have my year wrong I was high a lot in the late 70s and early 80s. Might have been 1982.🤘✌❤
Here is another song from this album raised on the radio. Try , ( The girl can’t help it ) and keep your eyes open on who’s playing the Bass Guitar and see if you can guess who it is .
