Love this song. It has one of my favorite Schon guitar solos. Short but so effective, fitting the song perfectly. And Steve's vocals! C'mon! The Voice! 🎶
I am always mesmerized by Steve's Beautiful voice and then you throw in his Long Gorgeous hair... sigh... He is just EVERYTHING!! Check out Steve's song/video "YOU BETTER WAIT" and "STRUNG OUT".
This song is in my personal Top 5 favorite Journey songs, truly beautiful in composition and meaning and performed to excellence. Also, to address your questions at the end, Journey was/is a massive band and to this day, still holds the record in a number of stadiums for the largest crowds! If I'm not mistaken, due to how big their crowds would be at their concerts, I believe that Journey may have been one of the first bands to use the big screens above the stage for audience members to be able to see.
One of the most beautiful Journey songs. Nobody, and I mean absolutely nobody, sings like Steve Perry. The voice, the intensity, just Steve. Be sure to check out the Live Escape Houston Tour, Journey with Steve Perry are so much better live than in the studio, songs like: Mother Fater (Steve's full vocal potential) Escape, Stone in Love, Open Arms and many more
Check out Journey their 1986 concert the song is "I'll Be Alright Without You". Randy Jackson is playing a pink base guitar and back up vocals and is wearing a pink jacket with fringe.
My mother’s favorite band/ singer! R.I.P. JUDITH E. CRAMER. She passed in 1993 @ the age of 33. I’m 47 years old and miss my mom… I LOVE YOU MY ANGEL!!!
I believe you have noticed that Mr. Perry hated making videos, and preferred doing them in one take. He had also rubbed many directors the wrong way. That came to roost here. Whoever planned this video made many, many takes to create the appearing and disappearing violins, cellos, pianos, band members, et cetera. Steve was in agonizing pain anytime he appears in the baggy maroon sweater, and could barely stand. A hip injury had uncovered a serious, incurable bone disease that ended his touring career. He had to be carried to an adjoining room and packed in ice between takes. This was the last time he appeared as a member of Journey. This was their only Grammy nominated song.
The hip pain makes sense. He moved around on stage so much when they performed live. No body could control their vocals and run around on stage like Steve Perry.
@@lesliedaubert1411 The filmmaker somehow "borrowed" images from Steve's videos from his solo album For the Love of Strange Medicine to show him moving around. Check them out, you will see what I mean.
Pluto- you have do much soul, passion and humor. Therefore- I’m dying to see your reaction to “ It’s Raining Men” by The Weathergirls. It’s got everything you’d love and it’s CAMPY as hell!
Goodness, you've never heard of Journey before! That's like someone saying they've never heard of Luther! Just like there will never be another like Luther, who I obviously love, Steve Perry is the absolute best singer of any rock band EVER! Journey has been together since the late '70s but didn't hit it big until the 80s. They're one of the most popular rock bands ever, too. That's why you'll find so many Journey tribute bands. They're still selling out concerts to this day. Steve Perry left for a couple of years around '90 or '92, then came back llater for a couple of years until he had no choice but to leave and have back surgery. He didn't really miss all the tr avel and everything, and he's always been a pretty private person, but he finally started a solo career and I still love him. Yes, the band has had changes over four decades, but what band together that long hasnt? Their pianist and drummer have changed more, but they didn't really affect the sound of the band. One drummer had a really nice voice, but, sadly, they had to replace him when drugs became a problem. Neal Schon, the lead guitarist, is one of the original members and still with the band, and the bass guitarist has probably been a member the second longest. Even the pianist and last drummer have been members for at least 20 years, though. After Perry left, they had one guy who had a great voice, but he was no Steven Perry. After the last singer left, they searched long and hard to find someone they thought could fill Perry's shoes and were about to lose hope when they found Pineda in the Philippines. He didn't even speak English at first when recruited in 2007, but he was a fast learner. He's a good singer, too, but they will never find another Steven Perry. Sadly, it took a tragedy to get Steve Perry back in action again. He met his girlfriend (after he'd been gone from Journey for several years) when he saw her in a hospital room and asked to meet her. She was being treated for cancer. She went into remission for a couple of years but the cancer returned, and it's always worse the second time for most. She was the one and only love of his life and she made him promise her that he would share his awesome voice with the world again. It took a few years. Of course he had to mourn, but he finally kept his promise. I suggest that you just watch one of their concerts from the '80s on RU-vid and/or check out their Greatest Hits. I think you'll find more you'll like. To the lady who lost her mother at such a young age for both of them, who said Journey was her mom's favorite, I'd just like to offer my condolences. I'm glad that she also likes Journey and can now think of her in a positive light while they share them together, because she's right there listening, too. I'll be 66 in November, so her mother and I may've been enjoying the original band at the same time.
I know you are excited to hear this song Pluto, but never interrupt Steve when he is singing a ballad song such as this. It wrecks the emotion of the song, and his presentation. Let it play through until the end then go back and discuss how you felt. Just a tip to you guys who do reactions to songs. It takes away from the song and the total reaction of yours. I love to see reactions but I hate when every 5 seconds it gets paused. Lol ... don't touch that pause button, I know it is hard but ... no pause 😉
They have a different lead singer now. Good but not the great Steve " The Voice " Perry. He later did a solo career. Other members for the instruments have changed as well.
