I don't see how anyone could leave Khiara for anything, let alone just a boat race. Love seeing you and Adam and the way you interact with each other, its just marvelous. Wishing you the best, take care and stay safe, I want many more of these excellent vids.
I just went back and watched your first video and realized what and whose boat that was. Sea Schell. What a small world. Been aboard your boat years back and I imagine the Schells are delighted to watch your channel... as am I. Good stuff.
We’re still in touch with Melinda but I’m not sure she’s a RU-vid kinda gal! It is indeed a small world, we’ve seen another 6 or 7 Tayana 42s in our time out here, considering there were only 200 made, its quite a lot!
Loved the sailing and dancing! So so happy for you both, that you are now doing what you love most...sailing !! Can’t wait to see where you go next... xx
Great job!! You two surely exhausted from all that you incredibly accomplish! Your committed work ethic and patience with each other in the hardest of work is such a blessing to witness. Yep, day off, many beers, rest & relax in order.
... noticed right in the beginning that the energy level was not normal and wondered if a bug was being fought .... glad of the self diagnosis and prescribed cure which unfolded in the last bit you shared ... sea breezes in the hair and water lapping at the hull .... liked the challenge, somehow did not surprise me that you would get something accomplished while the coffee water was coming to a boil, but would not have guessed that you'd whip up a banana loaf .. impresive ... sure like the look of the new main sheet traveler, am imagining the two of you will have fun figuring out how to and not to tweek it..... Adam and Khiara, thx for giving a peek into your lives ..... and as always .... never stop dreaming, just dream bigger .... have fun be safe, save our oceans ......
Hey Adam, As part of your next Q&A can you show how you mounted your solar panels to the rail, and how you prop them up. Or maybe point me to your video showing how you did it?? Regards, Brad
@@SailingMillennialFalcon As a temporary fix, it seems to work well. I am just interested in how you mounted them, and how you mounted the brace to the panel (and how you made the brace). There are several boats set up this way, but I can never get an answer from any. Thanks
If you have not already done so please recheck the straightness of the prop shaft (with a dial gauge, properly) and the engine alignment with a good set of feeler gauges. Everything is slightly different afloat. A cutless bearing is much less than a transmission rebuild.
You are obviously well practiced doing jobs on the hard and I'm sure the boat yard guys appreciated the way you were ready to go on time. They would also appreciate that you weren't hovering around them and telling them to be careful and when you were in the water you started the engine and off you went with no dramas and no special last minute jobs and no need to lift out again ! I'm sure they don't always have it so easy !
That’s if you have a blender 😬 we go a bit simple out here! but I could bake or make overnight oats etc with a frozen banana! I still forget we have a freezer in our fridge now! Thanks!
What is the green sheet you used to line the pan for the banana bread and where did you get it? Love both of your attitudes when dealing with all of the things that come your way!
Someone else asked me that too, they’re silicone food wraps that I got from an eco friendly store in oz but I’ve found them on amazon before wanting to buy some more...here! www.amazon.com/Veia-Reusable-Silicone-Food-Wrap/dp/B0893NQ3RN/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=agreena+silicone+wrap&qid=1597315976&sprefix=agreena&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExMjI1WklGT1c3VEEmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA3MjQwNjgyTDRFRFY5SE5PRVY4JmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA3Mjg5MTgyMlYyRDM0M1NNMkNIJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfcGhvbmVfc2VhcmNoX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
Hi guys, love your videos. When I used to sail in the tropics, we would dip the bananas in salt water which delayed their ripening. Hope this works for you too!
I got it in an eco friendly store in australia, it’s just a silicone food wrap. but I’ve ordered another one from amazon too as I can’t find them here 🙂it’s here - www.amazon.com/Veia-Reusable-Silicone-Food-Wrap/dp/B0893NQ3RN/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=agreena+silicone+wrap&qid=1597315976&sprefix=agreena&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExMjI1WklGT1c3VEEmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA3MjQwNjgyTDRFRFY5SE5PRVY4JmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA3Mjg5MTgyMlYyRDM0M1NNMkNIJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfcGhvbmVfc2VhcmNoX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
I've just binged watched 102 episodes and love the channel. I'm just wondering whether some of your bad luck over the past couple of years can't be attributed to having bananas on board. Mariners are superstitious beings and I shudder every time Khiara whips up banana pancakes...'cos within 20 minutes Adam will be explaining in great technical detail Millie's symptoms that can ONLY be the result of pushing your luck with the cursed (but oh so delicious) yellow harbingers of misfortune!
HA! You have summarised many of our conversations perfectly... khiara goes shopping and brings back bananas... Adam shudders and blames all our previous bad luck on bananas and bans them from our boat in future... repeat 😆 thank you for tuning in though and I’m glad you’re still watching after so much bingeing!!
Hey Guys!! Love your personality...that's what makes your channel so good. But I do have to say...merely embedding the mahogany beam screws into the deck. NO...its most certainly is not as strong as thru bolting with backing plates!! Yes....bedding epoxy will most certainly securely adhere to the bolt threads. BUT...its the surface area of the inside of the hole that the bedding epoxy adheres. Is the limiting factor!! Such that...if your in a big blow...that isnt much adhesion surface area on the inside of the holes. To prevent the bolts from ripping out!! In a big blow!! Versus...longer bolts to thri bolt with a backing plate. Quite litetally...the backing plates would literally have to RIP out the whole deck. In order to have a failure. Versus....bolts ripping out of their wholes. I mean the traveler has a ton of screws in it. Soo...its not coming up!! Its mahogany beam screes which the bedding epoxy can RIP out of the deck. You could leave it as it is. Then get 2 ready long bolts. Take out 2 screws in your traveler at very near each end. Bore those screw holes out, for the long bolts. To thru bolt it all on each end, with backing plates. Then counter sink the traveler holes, so the bolt head is flush. Into the traveler. I know...everyone's got an opinion. I had a 62' ketch. And ran my boat for 10 years. Doing long term, private charters, all over. Sold it...now planning my next one. Soo...watching you for my sailing fix... Have fun.... Make memories.. Jeffery 🌴⚘🌴
My understanding is they added the through bolts with backing plates to the deck --> mahogany. Then bedded the 20+ bolts from mahogany --> track. Seems like a good plan to me.
@@rosc7471 ok....!! That's good if he did. But...I'd have to watch it again, as he held up the 4 bolts....said they were too short to thru bolt with a backing plate. But the store was closed to get longer ones. And his buddy said...the epoxy in the threads will hold them in the deck. It wont over the long run....as the holes will slightly dry rot over time. And with the deck flexing. The bond then weakens over time. But if he they thru bolted with backing plates....then you can't do any better. 👍
hey guys I'd love to see how you did your resin benchtops they look great and hello from SOUTH AUSTRALIA love ya work I also have a coke addiction Adam so totally get it when you get cranky when you can't get it, I also can't have them just sitting in the house aswell as i would drink the whole lot!! we ended up getting a sodastream for our house and boat and the sodastream mixes are a little bit better for you and the environment ox
Haha, exactly the same as adam, we can’t have them on our boat unless I hide them! He’s gotten good at finding the hiding spots though... we’ve been wanting a soda stream for a few months now... soda water is surprisingly hard to find (not like 75c at coles deals!😆)
Reminds me of several years in South America on the pacific coast. Tons of holidays. Conquistadors to the first guy to dry salt from the ocean and the other guy to dig salt from the earth in the inland town two hours away. Any excuse for a parade then a siesta
I bet you a pound to a penny that you (pleural, not specific Adam) did the same as me and left the coffee pot on the stove long after it had made the coffee and enough to melt the handle so that it falls off! *SO* frustrating! Spares can be found cheaply enough (£8.50? or $10?) but a new replacement pot costs only £10 or £12 so what's the point? "Many a mickle maks a muckle" as they say in Scotland.
I think it broke while twisting it to refill! Not the best design... but prior to falling off I had indeed left it on the stove and melted a bit of it off! It still works perfectly so I’ll just make or buy a new handle 😊
