The awardees speeches ignored what he warned, discussing by one how her termin@ruin gave her the role she won and on and on. I'd say allegedly but watched in full.
I love how Ricky throws shade on the whole industry and makes it humorous at the same time, and the people involved even laugh because they know he's got a point lol. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen apparently didnt like his intro's for the actors (them included) at one of the Golden Globes he hosted and tried to insult him back but he just laughed it off and made a reference to Tim Allen snitching to avoid jail back in the day when he got caught with stripper salt at an airport lol
He snitched so that his charge went to federal court instead of Michigan's state court so he avoided life imprisonment that would have applied in Michigan. He still did almost 3 years, though.
@@jonah7195 Yep and I bet he smartened up. Either quit or found a better way to move his booger sugar around without getting caught again lol. Still a snitch either way though.
BEST awards hosting job EVER ! They all tried to politely laugh because he called them out and they were afraid to draw further attention to what he said.
During first lockdown, I noticed his free podcast and he actually cheered me up no end. He shares his and Janes life, introducing his foster cat whom he kept, discussing his back pain and grumbling on life but not self indulgent. He, Conan O Brian, Bill Burr, Joe Rogan, Rob Brydon, Jimmy Fallon (whom some haters) all entertained bringing common sense, laughs to day to day upsets, imo.
I don't think it was anything to do with age , I decided to stop after not even a smirk at the Sophie's choice gag and Martin Scorsese gag. Have to give them credit tho for not pretending to laugh at things they didn't either didn't get or don't find funny like some I've seen do.
judging by her face and complete lack of reaction to anything and everything that was said, I dont think she got a single one of the jokes or references. I mean, is her head there just to prop up those headsets? cause it's certainly not there to contain a brain it seems
Not necessarily age...being aware of who the heck he's talking about...I didn't know half of the people/ situations he spoke about because I detached from Hollyw weird some time ago.
To put context to some of the jokes: - "Afterlife" is Ricky's latest tv show. He basically promoted his work and he did similar things in previous Golden Globes :D - When Ricky says that everyone is terrified of Ronan Farrow it is because he is the journalist that exposed Harvey Weinstein’s sexual abuse.
You should react to Karl pilkington, he’s a friend of Ricky’s, he’s someone who’s a legend in uk back in the day and I think you guys will enjoy his content. Should start off with “introducing karl pilkington” videos and then “learn English with Ricky gervais” and then watch idiot abroad series.
@@mobbarley3599 not a personal diss. These 2 are young and alot of the jokes referenced events and names, way before their time. I wouldnt be a sub if i thought that little of them.
I saw the speech when he first said it and they edited a LOT of stuff out of it that was incredible but took HUGE jabs at the audience he was in front of. Somewhere you have to watch the unedited version. People were visibly pissed and you could see it. I was rolling with laughter on how true it was
Although to be fair when he made the comment about not using it as a platform to make a political speech "thank you God and your agent and f*** off" you could hear some of the stars etc in the room give me a genuine ovation to that comment. Many are probably pretty sick of going to these things and listening to speech after speech about this that or another thing... and you know in 2020 it would have been 3 hours of people getting up and bitching about Trump. Even if you hate Trump, that would be just mind numbing level of boring after a while.
Ricky may be the last time we see an honest comedian. Good luck finding anyone who speaks honestly. Self censoring, agenda driven anything for the spotlight is what we get today. Harvey didn’t have this many people willing to do what ever and anything to move up just a little bit.
i went to see violent night in theaters it was worth it. i agree there are some movies these days that they put out in theaters that should have just been on netflix hulu or the like.
The worst thing about these so-called awards is the cringy music it starts with. The only person who brightens it up is Ricky cause I've long gone off Hollywood actors with a few exceptions.
I see very few Hollywood films today that are worth starting my truck. I refuse to pay for television and the networks offer nothing but political garbage so I watch RU-vid and old movies and tv shows on free outlets like Tubi. When I was a kid in the 1950s, my brother and I would go to the theater every Sunday after church. We would usually stop by the White Castles which was across the street from the Gaiety Theater in South Chicago and buy a sack of White Castle burgers to eat in the theater. ( You could do that back then and since White Castles were a nickel each a dollar got us 20 of them. We bought our drinks and candy at the theater were we literally spent the entire afternoon and early evening. For a quarter, that's 25 cents for millennials, we got 2 full length feature films, a cartoon and a raffle. Yes, they raffled toys during the intermission between feature films. The best prize was often a bicycle. The theater picked the winner from our stubs of our admission tickets. Most films were worth the time back then, even the cheesy monster movies like the "Crawling Eye" or the "Revenge of the 50 foot Woman" and such. No preaching, no politics, just fun. I feel sorry for kids today as Hollywood only produces garbage including Disney, Walt is probable rolling over in his grave.
I never knew you guys did these reactions 😂 we Aussie’s love Ricky he’s so hilarious & on point, great to see that there are some Americans that get his sense of humour & that year he helped out so much while most our country was ablaze so thanx you 2, ❤
As a Brit,we all do this to each other, all the time.I dont think anyone does satire, sarcasm and our quick wit,or irony better than us.If your great friends with someone the more you try to offend them the better, but if you thought for one second it would upset them, you stop.Nobody gets it,but its great fun.We also love bringing big heads down a peg or two.
My first exposure to Ricky was in the original The Office. Haven't watched the US version, but I can't imagine it's as inappropriate as the British original. Perfect fit for Gervais.
If you guys want to go to fancy dinners like that lookup local Galas and when their dinners happen :) Its actually not as bad as youd think price wise but there is a strict ass dress code. The ones I have went to are about $300CDN a plate and you get your worth out of it easily! Makes for an amazing night Ill tell you almost surreal.
One of the most opolitically outspoken peoplein the past 20 years, giving a politically charged ratn about how actors should just "shut up and dribble". I love Ricky, but this was his worst most embarrasing moment.
"Thank your agent and your god and f##k off". Hahahhahahhaha...totally agree. I think after this, nobody really gives a f##k about these awards anymore. Every year, less and less people tune in.
Love this. But I’m guessing from the looks on your faces you had no idea about a lot of what he was saying. Basically he was saying “fuck you” to most of Hollywood. That’s probably the most simple answer without breaking down every little thing
The sad part about this is that EVERYTHING he said is true! Call them out, Ricky!!!! Biggest bunch of hypocrites; most of them are truly disgusting people; read the blind items for a month and you'll see.
Recently came across your page. Love it two parents being real without the sexual exploitation of your girl. Bravo keep it up. I’ve seen too many pages of couples that turn into a promotion for only fans. Gained a sub today
