How dimwitted and dull minded would one have to be to think people in the audience have fragile egos and will shrivel up inside if Ricky mentions them. These are people at the top of their game, not insecure children like Donald Trump and flawmore. :)
@@notgadot sort of strange that you keep asking that on any post regarding her... no she is not British. She does have some ancestry from there and Ireland.
If he was the permanent host he probably wouldnt get away with a lot of the stuff he says, the only reason he does is because he quite literally doesn't care about being the host.
I heard someone point out recently that one of the reasons Ricky Gervais was one of the best hosts for these shows, is the fact that he was there to make the TV-audience laugh, not the guests. And he was brilliant at it.
Carl Rudd Sablicious _did_ use the correct spelling of 'humour'. Yours is the modified American spelling, which most English speaking countries don't use. It bothers me that you actually thought the British spelling was incorrect.
Reminds me of the story of that American waiting in line and hearing a girl speaking in a "foreign" language and he tells her to speak "English", on which the Native American girl replies that he should go to England than and leave "her" country.
+Sablicious aaaaaahhhhh than and then ... I always get this wrong (yeah I know it is not that hard especially in German (my native tongue) they are totally different words, so it should be even easier)
Man, Gervais really is unbelievable in control - when he holds the paper in one hand there are no shakes at all, not one little bit. You are on live television delivering speeches you know will upset many and yet can remain so calm? Total respect.
and boy oh boy isn't she stunning. fun fact: she's got the most amazing calves. weirdly specific? yep. but Google them! as if they were hand crafted by the gods themselves
4:06 I can't tell if DiCaprio is looking at Ricky like he's pissed off or he's just studying him in the moment because he appreciates how effortlessly Ricky does his thing
The best of his monologues I think...cutting through all of Hollywood's vanity without revealing too much obvious and deserved contempt. And Jodie Foster such a sport.
The SNL ladies are mad because they weren't asked to host.. and I'm convinced either some of the celebrities don't understand a lot of his jokes or they're afraid to laugh because they might be the next person he insults.
Ricky's secret is that "innocent" smile he puts on after saying something savage. 🤣😂😜 And of course literally not giving a f**k about who will get upset and blah blah....
***** just that it is hard to tell if your being supportive, vindictive or just commenting that's why i was asking is that bad thing that he hasn't got a kid yet?
@@martellen really?. He has won multiple golden globes himself. Also has written, directed and acted in most of all his material which has made him millions. Pretty talented if you ask me. Probably has the most talent in that room.
I saw Ricky and sat in the front row of a small seaside theatre in Hastings, UK, as he was warming up for a tour. To this day I have never laughed as hard as that night, in fact I was drenched with sweat it was so funny. A genius.
I didn't realize that Johnny Depp's "Captain Jack Sparrow" voice wasn't an accent.... That's his real voice? His voice actually sounds like that all the time? Well that is magnificent.
Yeah that's his real voice. If you watch a load of interviews with him in like the Graham Norton show where he was a guest with Ricky as well, you can really hear it.
He doesn't exactly have an American accent anymore, it's kind of a jumble of things. It happens after years of playing the types of roles he does apparently. Plus he's lived in Europe for a while now I think
It's beautiful seeing people who almost never get honest critique from people closest to them get roasted. This is better than any comedy central roast.
This is funny cuz everyone doesn't tune into see millionaires reward each other, they want a regular dude to come in, make fun of them, make them cringe, crumble the glitzy atmosphere and piss them off. lol That's hilarious.
@@rubyxco Tom Hanks is a boy scout. I don’t think he is a bad person he just seems like the overly polite type of guy to me. Don’t hate him but he does seem to toughen up a little
If you look back at this almost 10 years later now, It looks like it's fake. IT looks like a serious award show, and they edited Ricky Gervais over it. MAn ! I hope this type of comedy will never die. It's ruthless, it's cheeky, and it coming from an angle nobody expects. Simply legendary !
But barely any of the folks around him seem perturbed or pretend to even notice him, except streep. Maybe they're so used to his type that it's "normal" to be around guys like him.
Double entendre. The Beaver is the movie she directed, but also can be an innuendo. "Nobody's seen Jodie's beaver..." I don't remember if she was out yet at this point, or if if was just one of those open secrets (I definitely heard Jodie is secretly a lesbian jokes before she came out).
I‘m here for all those pre-annoyed and nervous looks on the audience‘s faces LMAO I love how Ricky just doesn‘t let them have a chill night, the tension is hilarious
The thing is everything he says is always 100% facts. He has my respect :) And he is the original creator of The Office and great show writer I think credit where its due.
Love this guy. He's right; it's the rich, famous people winning awards. There's nothing in it for the millions of people watching, so he does his best to make it enjoyable for the viewers.
