Positive step - you got Griffin admitted. Positive step - you pushed up the swallow test. Positive step - they're running tests. Your doing it Emily...keep on doing it, kind but firm - push on through - you are your childs BEST voice. Love from Scotland x

As a social worker, I can tell you that if you weren't bringing him as often as you are, and you brought him in dehydrated and perhaps malnourished, they would more than likely open a case. You are doing the right thing.

Anytime, every time Griffin is seen by a doctor, document it ..... insist of being provided with a copy of the doctor's original, unedited notes and transcribed notes of the diagnosis, treatment plan recommendation, prescribed meds, and if the Rx's for those meds are sent to a pharmacy electronically, ask for a paper copy for your records ...... keep everything organized in a binder and make sure that binder goes with Griffin to the next appointment, particularly if it is at a hospital ...... it will provide a medical history for the next provider as well as covering yourself should some zealous physician or nurse decide you are not doing something that THEY think you should be doing and decide to call in CPS.

Some doctors just don’t care. I had something similar happen with my kid, but it wasn’t his tonsils. The medication he was taking was making him not want to eat or drink and though he wasn’t loosing a lot of weight, he was very tired and cranky all the time. It took a lot of fighting on my behalf to have the doctors finally realize that it was in fact the medication and not a behavioral thing like they kept telling me. Keep asking for answers, get second opinions, ask questions until something is done.

Buy him some Pediasure! Talk to his pediatrician about it first, but it should be enough to keep him full and healthy until he can start eating solid food again (especially if they put off the swallow test). He doesn't need to have solid food to have a good quality of life. I have an ex who had a 2-year-old son (at the time, the "kid" is in his 20s now) that had a feeding tube and he only had Pediasure for his meals. I don't think this is happening with Griffin, but my ex's son had a hernia in his esophagus and it was causing him to throw up whenever he ate by mouth, so they put in a feeding tube (directly into his stomach). I'm also surprised you had to bring your own food for him when a children's hospital should definitely have Pediasure on hand.

Hello! I have written a comment when I first subscribed to your channel. It never occurred to me that When I was talking about ALex (my grandson) that he also cannot swallow well. We noticed when he was four yrs. old. He was diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome. He cannot chew hard food. He is almost 34 yrs. old and we cut up all food that is not soft enough to swallow. We cook his vegetables and there are foods he cannot eat at all. We notice an effort to chew but no success. Even bread has to be broken up. Be patient with the medical persons, they have to justify a surgery. Putting Griffey ‘under’ for tonsil removal is a risk in itself. Soft foods may be the answer. Your emotions are understandable..Hope all goes well!

It's possible they don't want to do surgery because of his age. Anesthesia is very hard on a kid. I have a friend whose daughter had to have dental surgery twice and the anesthesia made her have night terrors for months afterward each time. She would wake up screaming for hours and nothing would calm her down. It turns out that they are a common side effect of young children after getting put under for surgery.
@cayden6807
@cayden6807 3 года назад
@@imjuliewaters I completely understand that. I’m a type 1 it scares me to death to think that I might have to go under one day. But when a child has a penny size room In the back of his throat. Which the mom said. You don’t really have a choice. He has also been under Anesthesia before. So I don’t think that’s her main concern. Him choking on his food is.

Just want to mention that each time you do a botox injection...its a new procedure. If they get it off and it effects numbing the throats ability to work with swallowing...that will be a whole other story. Swollen tonsils and the throwing up and gagging and his afraid to eat should all be addressed too. Do you have an angelmans dr? They should be who handles his case. Er and general hospital dont know him or you. You have to get very specific and explain exactly how long youve been working on this and that swallow study should help to know if its from botox or a reation and adversion to eating and choking from swollen tonsils. They need to understand your 24/7 with him you and husband missing work and have 5 other children that have to be attended to and Griffin with this choking constantly is the only thing you can focus on and would not be reaching out and stopping the caring for the whole family if it was insugnificant. Ask direct questions. They wont be able to give you an answer to and get their gears working. Find out if angelman association can help you. Is their a support group. You need to talk to your flock. Mommas who have experience especially with botox and large tonsils and swallowing choking issues. I know its overwhelming but while grigfin rest do some research or get someone to do it for you! Its gonna be ok but it is so sad and agravating what lengths you got to go to for every possible thing! Deep breath! Find an angel group and talk to a director!

Don’t let them rule that out as a child I always had really big tonsils and would also choke while eating, at 16 I got them removed and it stopped all the choking I was experiencing. Dysphagia is fairly common in kids who have disabilities, it's not related to the tonsils. Many of these kids end up with feeding tubes if it can't be helped. I hope they investigate further, it sounds like this is why they're reluctant to blame it on the tonsils.

Hi from New Zealand, what happens if he gets sick ? Given the change in the seasons and the fact his siblings go to school his chances of catching something are increased especially with his little body not being in full capacity (Eating/drinking). If he develops some sort of infection in his throat it could be catastrophic. Not trying to instill fear but surely it's a valid arguing point with the Doctors. Griffins safety must come first!

Prayers for you and Griffin. I can’t iMovie how scared and upset you are and I pray and hope someone listens to you and actually hears you because this is absolutely ridiculous. It’s like how much swollen does my child’s tonsils need to get ? Like he’s probably scared to eat that’s why he’s decreased in eating like every time he eats what he loves he’s choking . Like what else could it be? It’s like yeah his body is still allowing him to do the bare minimum in breathing and getting some food in bud it’s like your tonsils should never be that bug and the fact that it’s not a cause for concern until they are touching is absurd! Like I can’t imagine how not only scary this is for you but also exhausting and frustrating because your gut is telling you that something absolutely just isn’t right with your son and I just wish people would take mamas seriously when they say that because that’s your child the very child you carried in your body you know everything about your kid so when your gut is telling you something isn’t right snd it needs to be fixed it should be taken seriously. Plus I mean seriously now if “something scratched his throat “ it would be healed by now but that still doesn’t explain his tonsils being so large like they maybe would’ve have gotten a little irritated if something scratched them but they wouldn’t have gotten so large I’m not a doctor but logically that doesn’t even make sense it just like no. But prayers it’s figured out so Griffin and your family can get back to your lives and that scare and worry and frustration is lifted.

I hesitate to comment but I must in fairness to you. You should have a serious talk with the doctor about the role play. I had my tonsils out when I was about 12, I'm now 82. I had my appendix out when I was four. They used to take them out almost indiscriminately. However they have discovered they have an important role later in life. I don't know what that is exactly. I know you're concerned and I appreciate that. You have to advocate for your children, as only a mother can. You're an angel in disguise. I hate to see you so upset because your health matters too. You are wonderful mom. My heart goes out to you. I'm praying that everything will be all right. I wish you the very best. I love you very much! ☘️☘️💕💕🙏🙏🙏🙏

Possibly go to a top notch snoring center? They shrink tonsils.

This is horrible! Tonsillectomy are such a routine procedure. I don't understand why they need a swollow study to take them out. Inflamed and swollen Tonsils in a child that struggles to eat. Get his tonsils out!

You need to go somewhere else & keep that report open with the patient advocacy. Then afterwards, you can go back & say yes it's the tonsils, they've been removed & he's fine now. And get a special needs lawyer too, they can do more of the fighting for you & you can focus more on Griffin & the other kiddos. Get as many people on board with you as you can to help you fight. Oh, & although it shouldn't make a difference, sometimes it can change things if Dad takes the child in. They listen better, which yes, is maddening. Plus, the swallow study could show that it's the tonsils.

I have a terribly sensitive gag reflex. As soon as I get a swollen throat I throw up due to my throat being "wrong" if I swallow my meds wrong I throw up. Maybe Griffin's swollen throat is having a similar issue. Keep being pushy about getting the little man help.

Do you know what the first thing an ER Dr looks at on your chart...before he sees you? Your insurance. Trust no one and question everything.
