Epic is correct... Alanis' best song I feel... this song evokes all kinds of emotions and imagery, but when it reaches it's intense crescendo it almost has Led Zeppelin's 'Kashmir' vibe, it's cinematic in it's scope.

There's a haunting motif stressed by three notes: G, B flat, and B. And then when the orchestra kicks in, you get this Arabian/Egyptian vibe. Very DISSONANT TENSION!!!
@dggydddy59
@dggydddy59 2 года назад
Which notes are you referring to? You can't mean that 4 note pattern on the piano that repeats throughout the song? Because then you'd mean Eb Bb B and Bb, assuming your Bb and B are correct, which let's just assume they are. Not having perfect pitch, I can't tell what key this is in just by listening, I only have relative pitch. Or did you mean 3 other notes? Just curious, not attacking. Cheers!
@rpvee
@rpvee 2 года назад
The whole song is influenced by Eastern/Indian music. Not just the strings, but also the percussion (Indian tabla) and the verse melody, second verse in particular. This was the first song Alanis released after her trip to India, and the influence is clear.
@allieren

The song is also based around the mixolydian mode/scale which has an exotic sound (to Western listeners) and gives it a bittersweet feel.

Funny, I never got the stalker angle. I always took it as she 'simply wanted an object to crave'... something physical and temporary. And then the person got inside her head 'uninvited' and she began to have deeper feelings for them. Like she just wanted sex, but found a person she really now cares for, and has to deal with those feelings.

Explain how you're supposed to know when to pause it when you're listening to a song you've never heard before. I'll wait. Plus, I don't know RU-vid's rules, but I'm under the impression that if you play a song straight through without pausing, you're far more likely to get blocked. One alternative that some reactors use is to blur or grey out the video itself, but R&A choose not to do that.

Started as a Canadian young pop singer. She was hurt by relationship, faded for bit. Her Album, "Jagged Little Pill " was her coming out as a grown woman. She took control. Completely different from her earlier work. She addressed the pain

She wrote this song for the sound track of City of Angels.. See the movie and you'll understand how perfectly it fits with the story.

Alanis has a twin brother named Wade. He is also a singer, musician, yoga instructor & author. I took one of his yoga classes once years ago & he was amazing. I have several of his "CDs" from years ago, but he really is great.

MY FAVORITE ALANIS SONG!!!!! To understand the song, watch the movie it's from. She wrote it for the movie, "City of Angels".

No she didn't she wrote it about an obsessed fan who took it to far and stalked her .. It was later used in the City of Angels

@@davinaburden7529 I know this is late but I HATE misinformation: Morissette discussed writing “Uninvited” for City of Angels. “I had been going through something at the time that I wanted to write about and I saw a screening of the movie and it applied very much to the lead characters,” she recalled. “I think it was as simple as that really. I just wrote it and I didn’t really think about it. I knew that I didn’t want it to be a single. I just wanted it to be part of the movie and it was.” She wrote it FOR the movie based on the movie and personal experience.

Well its not really Misinformation is it.. The personal thing she was going through was a crazy stalker... So when she wrote the song for the film that was what she was drawing from 🙄
@randomlibra

@@davinaburden7529 Stop trying to save face. You were PROVEN wrong and now you are trying to gaslight everyone. She never had a stalker that she spoke of publicly. If you can find me a shred of proof, post it. I will wait for the links to the interviews where she spoke of this...
