Chidwick seems like he can not be rattled. He's like a prototype poker machine. Listening to him, you can see why he is so beastly at the game. Interesting dude.
I both wish I had that and I doesnt at the same time. Being emotionally volatile like I am is a big drawback playing poker. I had natural talent for the game but psychologically it was always a struggle. Found betablockers which helped a lot to keep me stable. But on the other hand I feel things deeper both the lows and the highs while a guy like him have a very limited emotional range. Its good for poker being a robot but it limits you as a human. But you dont know what you miss out on.
Probably a lot of people who can relate to the social anxiety and other struggles Chiswick has gone through and how he's conquered them. Thanks you both for doing this. My only criticism, don't bleep the fucks, please.
@@Pyrrhic537typical or normal would be an insult. Every special or ultra successful person is weird compared to the normal. I prefer weird over the same
Awesome video...Great questions and conversation...allowing us to discover Stephen's thoughts and personality. which we don't see at the table as he gives nothing away...Thankyou Jungle..brilliant..
Man that 77 vs KJ hand vs Bryn was one of the sickest hands I've ever seen, I was screaming at the computer when watching it live. Cool to hear Chiddy talk about it.
I have been playing Club GG MTT for a week now. 80 tournaments 19 ITM and 4 wins. Going nuts waiting to get a chance to play live MTTs Love this stuff.
Really fascinating insight into the mind and approach of an elite tournament player. I found it very informative and interesting from sit n go's steps to rock climbing and cognitive mind training. Stephens voice sounds like he rarely talks. Like he's surprised by the sound of his own voice. It's not even English sounding- a transatlantic dialect like that guy Zorg from the movie The Fifth Element. Great interview from two very individual people.
A drink with ashwaghanda and caffeine sounds to me like your using the gas and the break at the same time hehe. Ashwaghanda lowers cortisol, I think that's the main effect. Caffeine increases cortisol secretion, so that would work counter to the ashwaghanda. I do sometimes use ashwaghanda in the evening to enhance sleep. I can see on my sleep tracker that it reduces my resting heart rate and I feel more rested when I wake up. Great conversation by the way. Interesting that he has a few climbing gyms. I'm into bouldering, it's a fantastic way to train and play.
Hey Daniel, glad to see you have a podcast. I had no idea. For whatever reason it popped up on my RU-vid feed. Congrats on your GoG appearance. Also interesting to hear you maxed out the SAT n were a Terp for a while. Steven is my favorite tournament player, along with Fedor and yourself. Lmk next time you’re in Texas, either the Lodge or Houston. Best wishes and if you ever need an agent I’d like to handle some poker guys to go along with my NFL guys. Peace.
Keep it up Jungle! Was nice to hear from Chidwick. He does sound like he just woke up from a freezer from the year 1400 with how gravely he sounded. He did talk way more than I expected since I was thinking it would be a lot of one word answers.
Note self. If you're making yourself feel like shit, because of mistakes you made. There's a very high likelihood that you make the people around you feel like shit too. Lighten up, and forgive!
Was excited when I saw chidwick was the guest, but felt like I didnt really learn anything about what makes him special. Wish dan wouldve gone more into live tells/theory v exploit/ player reads etc.
Religion keeps masses of people in a more maluable and placid state....however, while it can keep people safer from themselves than not, there's a massive difference between cultures and their local religions....how it got to each of those and why and who helped foster them and how heavy handed they were - have a lot to do with how honest humans are with themselves and each other...
To all the pople who state "poker is all about luck", just check how many times the same guys make it to the final table by beating thousands of players. To me poker is 90% skill and 10% luck at this point.
Listening to the first 20 minutes, there was too much fluff from Chidwicks side. Not too much actionable advice. Maybe doesnt want to give away anything since hes still active
Haven't seen Jungleman for a few years as I basically forgot about poker...but damn he looks like he has had it rough😅 What is that hair about dude...and so many lines on his face. Maybe it is just hiv
It is amazing how much woo these guys buy into. Dan in particular seems destined to be ripped off by con artists, he is just so open to scammy nonsense, "modern day Jesus" with miracles, light energy has a weight, a BS book about the magical properties of trying to alter your breathing, etc. Unbelievable.
From my personal experience and from several accounts of well known people such as Gary Brecka, Wim Hof, and Sean O'Malley, here's what happens simply put; For up to 6-12 hours after immersing into cold water for 3-6 minutes you will notice elevated feel goods, hightened focus and sense of being awake, and your body will feel tight and ready to stretch. The best way to take a cold shower is to take your normal shower, end with hot water, to the point you'd wish you were in a cold winter breeze, you then slam that sucker to as cold as you can get it and try to control your breath. Try it and I promise your whole day will benefit and change. Overtime it gets easier and addicting like most feel goods 😉
I should also follow it up with this; Overtime I haven't had to get the water so hot in the end to prepare for the cold rush moments ahead, and most likely you will adapt easier too as you consistently take cold showers. But start out hot and work your way down.
Chidwick is an endboss, poker and character wise. If you want to watch "characters", watch the Hustler stream. He is probably more of a Character than everyone on Hustler combined tho, just not so loud and extroverted.
@1:16:46 It's called rumination of the mind. Number one important thing is to realize this is not healthy. No matter what you are thinking. Learning from your mistakes is one thing but rumination is a bad habit to create.
Great interview Jungle, you remind me of myself when speaking with someone. The bit on breath work is really a game changer for me, I have been diagnosed with ADHD and have been medicated for around 1 year. I did not make much progress in the first 8 months until I found meditation which then led me to breath work. It has helped immensely with focus and interrupting non-serving thought patterns at the table and off. I just downloaded Breath to read as well. Keep it up Jungle
Hi was just reading your comment and was wondering if you were based in the UK? I am almost certain i have ADHD but when mentioned to my doctor he didn’t really seem interested. Was you diagnosed by a regular GP or a private doctor? Also what medication are you on? Sorry for all the questions.
@@Shdjdjxbdksk you shouldnt be seeking out medication before arriving at a concrete diagnosis...self medication is not recommended. get a 2nd opinion and maybe a 3rd. but after that you have to realize that you may be wrong and the doctors are right. ADHD is one of those things that a lot of teenagers "THINK" they have but really do not have. Not saying this is the case for you, just saying you shouldnt be asking people on youtube what medication they are using so you can use it yourself. Best to listen to your doctor, they know more than you.
Eye opening listening to Chadwick explain the future game possibilities and how that impacted his decision. Seems simple but it's really not. Majority of players do not think like this. Very eye opening
From a fellow poker player and content creator, this is interesting and helpful content for some people. It really is for hardcore poker addicts. I respect Cates for so many things, he is a genius, but to the public eye, he may come through as a legit crazy guy through these interviews.
Man I just meet him in Rio de janeiro and gave him a luck chip from Macao,, he was more or less dressed up as a chess piece he is little odd but hell of a nice guy and super sharp brain
Stephen if you have a step 4 ticket of 109$ do you think its a bad idea to spend it on the sunday million ticket instead of going for the gold/silver tickets?
They always say they say they started in "freeroll" and started their bankroll that way. Don't want to admit that they ever lost money, even while learning.
