Im a casual onlooker to poker, i used to be obsessed in 07 to 2011. So i just occasionally poke my head in to see whats going on. But the last few years ive noticed poker has gained a lot of popularity. Like im seeing it more and more in settings i wouldnt expect to see it, streams i happen to see get a lot of increasing attention, can just tell a LOT of people want to play it. If only it became widely legal in the states and easy to play online, i think it would be a golden time for online poker. Again.

this is very interesting. I mostly just play for fun, but ive played over 20 years and i can pretty regulary go deep into mtts and usually avoid making any massive blunders and a lot of his thought processes are very similar to mine, just obviously on an entirely different level. i delved into gto a bit years ago when i was trying to take poker more seriously and i swear i was having the worst result of my life when i was just trying to make "gto approved plays."
@genesises
@genesises Месяц назад
yeah you shouldn't "play gto". that doesn't work unless you are playing against a gto bot. also if you already have confidence in your style of play you are gonna play worse regardless of what you are trying to apply. gto is pure theory, poker played by humans is not. having the theoretical understanding becomes useful if you can actually play a consistent strategy over a LONG time, and judge your opponents appropriately. going relatively deep in lower stakes MTT's is mostly down to folding when you don't have it and never bluff off your stack - most of the field is going to play themselves out due to impatience or just being bad.
@AC-wl7ve
@AC-wl7ve Месяц назад
@@genesises absolutely, i always try to play balanced as well and i have a pretty good understanding of ranges and which spots are good to bluff or not. from there i just try to take notes of what my opponents are doing and play a bit more exploitive. against certain opponents (especially at lower stakes) the "gto approved plays" are just going to put you in a ton of spots you dont want to be in.

We need to talk about the real roi% that is achievable not how poker is easy and soft and all this nonsense. The realistic and achievable roi% is what really determines if a game is soft or not. For example if you can achieve 30% longterm, that means the game is really easy and most importantly there will be less swings and you will get to realize that winrate faster. On the other hand if 5% is achievable, that is a nightmare game, because even if on paper it is profitable, but the swings long-term can last 5k+ tournaments and that means years of practically gambling. I personally and ethically wouldn't suggest anyone to play poker for a living like this, maybe playing on the side. Please Ben stop telling lies to promote your business.

Ben, you're wrong about the early stages of tournaments. That's why you end up near bubble with 15bbs. People gamble more in early stages and make silly bets to accumulate chips. So many thin profitable calls you're missing when you're 24tabling. I guess it's a streaming/entertainment thing to make it to at least one final table per stream but I feel it's -ev.

@FriendsForFriends666 Месяц назад
@@cheekibone117 true, he made millions playing the best poker he could. I just don't think 24 tabling can sustain anywhere close the quality that made him profitable against the top players and with so small edges. Missing on early spots is detrimental in this scenario. But I do wonder what will be his performance if he's focusing on one table while the other 8 players play 24 tables. I believe he knows the answer as well.

In my view I will float-ev calls mid game because in a 5 hour tournament if I get lucky I will become big stack if I lose it’s just another day and I put the whole thing in the rear view mirror. I choose my spot when to float and close my eyes

The multitable problem: Ben has an interesting hand on table 4,6,8,13,14,17,20. I'm sitting on table 24 at middle position with 80bbs. Ug raises from 30bbs, ut+1 reraises from 25bbs and I shove 80bbs pre. You're sitting on sb with 44s and 50bbs. What do you do? Well, previous hand you missed cause you're playing the hand on 7 tables was between utg vs me where he shoved a6off and I called with aas and lost to a 6 high straight. Now you might want to rethink how strong are your 44s.

Who are you, jesus scammer ferguson? It's difficult yes, takes ages of study yes, needs maximum emotional control yes and yes you have to be a genius on top. If any factor is less than it should you're going broke over long run. No way around this. Sure, sites have huge incentives to have bots and rigged rngs. Bots have been proven to be real (after years of screaming about them now they lost their money they care. When it was yours they said you need to buy a course) and there is an open conversation on rngs. Nothing is proven about them as far as I know. The full tilt days are over folks. I wish they weren't. i do remember watching a video a long time ago where a guy took data from hundreds of thousands of hands and found that that odds were very skewed when it came to late stages of a tourney or the higher stack player usually being favoured to win a flip. who knows if its really like that, but it would kind of make sense to have something coded in that is just moving games along faster, getting more money moving so ultimately they make more rake.
