The Comet - as indicated by the column shifter - also has either a 4sp conversion or an aftermarket floor shifter for the original 3sp box. Could have also been a 260 originally, swapping for a 289 once the 260 popped it was a thing back then (my 64 had the conversion - not that I'm complaining!). Oh and yes they are closely related to the Mustang but there are some significant differences which can make getting parts a hassle (as me how I know)...

The best buys at the show were the 1960 Corvair and the 1951 Ford. I was surprised that the '56 Belair sold for less than the Comet or the Cadillac. I wonder if the buyer knew that the '63 Cadillac had the front end of a '64, that would take something away from its value.

This one was definitely worked over in the past - there's been at least couple coats added over the years, over crusty edges and lumpy panels. At best it's a beater. It sold for around $3k on the auction. The tan car brought $8k a year ago, which was a smoking deal. It had a pristine, fresh restoration. I'm not sure where it ended up. The market is pretty soft for these cars - you can get a really good one for a very reasonable buy-in. They are constantly coming to market, so you can be choosy. Decide what you want - an early car, later car, open body style, or closed. Your best bet will be to get on Facebook and join the Model T Classifieds page, and the Model T Cars and Parts for Sale page. You can probably find something real decent reasonably close to your area of the country for under $10k

The 56 Chevy had some good looking paint and interior. Still a 4 door sedan not a 4 door hardtop. Also likely to need fuel tank and lines and gas pump replaced or cleaned. Brakes would need a complete going through. Would need tires and possibly exhaust. Simple under the hood but would likely need work from sitting for so long. Also salted road country so what condition is the frame? I have bought a half dozen cars that came from salt areas and also had been sitting. Although I did all of the work myself I can tell you that this 56 may not have been the flippers dream that some of you believe. Unless you plan on parking it in the garage not caring about driving it and just looking at it which is OK too.
@mr.goodpliers6988
@mr.goodpliers6988 Год назад
It still had a long way to go from driving 100 feet in and out of the shed, to seeing the road. The mechanic had it on the lift, and inspected it - every inch of the underside of body and frame were rust free.

Not sure if the car is a '63 that had the nose knocked off at some point, or if it's a rebodied 64, but it's definitely Frankensteined. Hopefully the former because if it's titled as a '64 someone pretty much threw their money away.

The man that was the dealer died in in his office in 1969 and when they were getting rid of everything, this clear plexiglass hood was found up in the ceiling and taken to the city dump with old fenders and tons of old, obsolete parts.
