Why would we think different of him? Kūʻē! And how come he doesnʻt call out the copʻs name? That oppressive mentality of making people feel unworthy, esp. for a cop who supposedly has to uphold the law would say such a thing (was he haole, or rather not from Hawaii?) is reinforcing that stereotype. We donʻt need more people like that cop to remain there! Nazism exists, just in different forms and people look at it differently. But thatʻs exactly what that police person was doing. But mahalo for all the details including reminding us of the judicial language in Hawaii!

@@meijiishin5650 I forget his/his parents' life story. Anyways, here, I found a source: "By age 12, Anthony, who grew up in Waianae, began learning kui’ai, the traditional way of pounding pa’i’ai. Anthony, who is not Native Hawaiian, learned to love taro from his step-grandfather, a Native Hawaiian who is the last kuleana taro farmer in Waianae Valley." I just cannot believe that the cop was so ignorant to do what he did on his part to get so upset because Uncle Daniel neva answer him in English! MUST HAVE BEEN ONE HAOLE!!! I just love all your episodes and enjoy every single one of them. The amazing people of Hawai'i and all their endeavors is powerful! Mahalo nui loa for all you and your team do to share these episodes on you tube.

My understanding is that after Queen Lili’uokalani was forced at gunpoint to abdicate, the Hawai’ian people did tell her they would fight to keep their independence. She said not to, the Americans would just kill you all. She may have been thinking of what happened to all the native people on the North American continent. And looking at what is happening in Gaza right now, you can see the genocide that happens when a people resist a colonizing power. But, seeing the support for Palestine among so many young American college students, maybe there has been a change in people’s attitudes toward this bullying? It’s important to keep pushing back. Thanks for not giving up!

Look I totally agree with you. If you want the land back then take it back. King David Kalakaua was weak and didn’t fight back. I mean Queen Liliʻuokalani put up resistance but didn’t succeed. In all of history land gets conquered for one reason or another but complaining about it won’t help.

Conquering was before people had governmental systems…this was only 130 years ago, there are international laws that America broke
