I also hate how the writers made both William and eve side with amber and basically tell Mark "nah man. You were definitely the one in the wrong"

The biggest problem with Amber is that she knew he was a hero and the problems that come with that and yet didn't support him or try to understand why he wasn't telling her. She put all of that responsibility on him when he was already carrying more responsibility than she ever could. She was basically gaslighting him and keeping the secret from him that she knew he was a hero which was putting undue stress on him and their relationship. She was completely in the wrong on this one

Now I know two 30 year old characters named "Rudy" transfered into a young body, which isnt a lot, but its weird that it happened twice

Honestly, that scene with Mark and Amber could've worked with just a little retooling. Have Amber be irritated that she has to feel guilty about her frustration with Mark constantly blowing her off because other people's lives are obviously more important than her feelings. Have her talk with Mark about that and the incredibly difficult situation his circumstances put her in. It could've been a really interesting and emotionally complex scene, but the writers decided to assassinate her character for no reason instead.

I’ll never understand why the writers decided to completely character assassinate Amber. It’s extra stupid because not only does it make her super unlikeable and seem narcissistic, but she blatantly goes against her own morals and her trait of wanting to help people just so that it makes sense for them to break up. The rest of this show is awesome besides that one scene between Amber and Mark

Yep she literally knew before the trip and put on a show about him leaving them to die JUST because he didn't tell her his secret identity. She basically tried to manipulate him into revealing his secret then got pissed he didn't do it fast enough for her liking and put the blame solely on him.

You have no idea how happy I am with your reaction to Robot. I cried my eyes out when I first watched this episode. It's so rare to find someone who has experienced the same thing. Usually everyone is disgusted by the Robot's appearance or they just don't care ;(

i cannot explain to you how incredibly satisfying it was to see you wonder and try to figure out why everyone disliked her this whole time and then having you finally agree in the end, that felt so good

Just so you know, the scene with Amber is a solely original scene to the show, as the comics handled it very differently. In the comics, Amber thought Mark was involved with drugs, and the lame excuses he made were to cover for that, and around the time Mark was going to tell her the truth, she figured it out while talking with some of her friends, and they talked about it and "consummated" their relationship. It didn't fix all the problems in their relationship, but it did help it. This whole scene is worse when you take into account that Amber just saw Mark being attacked by the cyborg and knew it was him and still made a point to belittle him in public for running off . Robot is 30 years old, and monster girl is 29.

I've never read the comics but Monster Girl's power is interesting because every time she transforms her monster self gets older and stronger, and her human self gets younger.

She literally acts like Mark ditched them when the cyborg attacked when she knew he was Invincible. Amber could have said something, and she did bring it up in the comics, but some blame is on Mark for not saying anything. Also she went to a party to try and hookup with a guy she didn’t even know. Like talk about trust all you want, Amber was about to cheat on Mark.

I love how in the comics, Amber didn’t know about Mark being Invincible, so when the reveal happened, she just kinda went “Oh, I’m a freaking idiot.”, and so they made up and continued the relationship. In the show, they tried to make her a more “strong, independent woman”, who is too smart to not know that Mark’s Invincible, and that entire scene made her a complete bitch.

For me it's not that she's a terrible person, it's the fact that Amber knew he was Invincible long before the trip but continued to give him hell for it. He's a superhero and ur high schoolers. Giving up his secret identity is his right alone. Feels like she doesn't understand the constant crap he goes through as a hero. Like Eve said, it's a serious thing to tell someone.

I keep forgetting that mark managed to defeat that roided Cthulhu lookn' kaiju. We were so distracted by immortal's death that we never really acknowledge it

Rudy/Robot was one of the most surprising and affective things in this show for me. Whatever you can say about him, he's an altruist to the core.

Shout out to Art Rosenbaum for being the best tailor in the world with Nolan taking all comers this episode and not getting a single tear on that suit.

The real irony with this whole outcome for Robot is... With Eve's powers and his brains, they absolutely could have worked out a way for him to get a perfectly functional and viable organic body without needing to copy-paste and die like this... But I guess he either never knew that her powers can work on organic things if she tries hard enough or he just knew she would likely not feel comfortable making him a body that's close to Monster Girl's apparent age? Who knows.

Immortal is essentially a heroic version of Vandal Savage from DC.

Well, Robot is basically an adult, but Monster Girl is mentally in her 20s. So it wouldn’t be too weird since they’re both adults in their minds.

That’s why everyone hates Amber so last episode she was about to cheat on Mark with some frat dude while knowing Mark saved them from the cyborg or that he wasn’t hit by a “bus” and had a VERY good reason not to come to the soup kitchen (not that getting hit by a buss is not a good reason to not come too) Ps what doesn’t help is the show is still trying to make Mark the bad guy here I am sorry but you can’t expect a TEENAGE boy to fully commit to his FIRST EVER girlfriend in just 6 months.

It’s natural to be scared for Debby’s life but Omniman does not care if Debby knows. He doesn’t care if the entire planet knows. He only cares because he knows she won’t be with him anymore but otherwise she’s irrelevant and poses no threat.

i think the writers tried to make Amber seem smarter by letting her figure out Mark was Invincible. but it either makes her look stupid at best, manipulative at worst because she was fully ready to chat up that college guy because mark "ran away" and willing to break up with him over being late. just makes it seem like she was gaslighting him the whole time.

Yep, Amber is god awful. Watching the previous Amber scenes, after stating that she figured it out, likely before Mark went into the hospital, makes all her actions seem extremely selfish and borderline crazy. And given this understanding of her, it makes it seem like she only asked Mark out, after she saw him with Eve, and just got jealous at the beginning. That one line, that Amber knew for weeks, completely destroys her character, beyond simple immaturity. The girl is psycho, and Mark should stay away from her.

So, Amber knows Mark is Invincible for weeks. Pretty much since Mars, and yet Amber should’ve said something if it bothered her that much. The creators of the show intended this scene of Amber figuring out a secret like this ahead of time to show how smart it was, but it backfired. My Man, Mark, has been saving the world from meteors, aliens, crime syndicates, and soon his father. And she thinks a soup kitchen has priority above all else? I understand her innate selfishness, but it’s wrong to think she didn’t mess it up herself.

This episode is insane, it has so many interesting story beats, there's not one moment where you're not interested in what's going on with the different characters in different locations, it starts relatively slow with some relationship drama (what the fuck were the writers thinking with Amber?), but as soon as Omni-man goes home and starts killing the soldiers, it just keeps building in intensity and scale until it just ends on a silent shot showing Mark and Nolan ready to have the biggest talk ever, which we have all been waiting for since the end of episode 1. Also I think an underrated moment is when the Mauler's wake up The Immortal, their reaction is just PERFECT, as soon as he rips the collar off and is SEETHING WITH RAGE and demanding where Omni-man is, their faces are so confused and scared and they just drop everything and put their hands up, because FUCK FIGHTING THIS GUY RIGHT NOW, but they have NO IDEA at all what to say because this all just came out of nowhere, so when he asks again even angrier, they just take a step back out of panic. For how much they are brawlers and smart-asses, they are so petrified that they have nothing to say and immediately surrender, and based on the damage that the Immortal did to Omni-man, they had good reason to be scared, he has most likely been holding back while fighting them in the past, but could probably rip them in half if he stopped giving a shit (also as a side note, the damage that he did to Omni-man is extremely impressive, the next episode will give more context on this)

"5 month and didn't tell her", bru is a secret identity, he shouldn't tell NO ONE, that is the point, spiderman is proof of that, batman, etc

6:48 This line is why people hate her. "I figured it out weeks ago." They just got back from their trip the next day after the attack. It has been less than 24 hours in their world since she was accusing him of running away during the first attack. If she really did figure it out weeks ago, then not only was she accusing him of something she knew he didn't do, running away from danger, but she was also lying to his face at the time. You can't lie to someone's face, and then guilt trip them for having lied to you. At least he had a good reason for lying to her, as secret identities remaining secret is a matter of life and death. Her only reason to lie to him is so that she could make him feel bad. That's a toxic relationship.

It's so painful seeing Amber go from a character who makes sense, to then being written so badly. This show's amazing but they dropped the ball in that one area.

The more you think about Amber's logic the more it really hurts, and I seriously think this was a writing oversight. If she knew why was she upset in the past instances? Why did she feel like she deserved to be in the know of something so critical to Mark's life when they were only dating for not even a semester? Did she lie about knowing just to mask her insecurities? Like why? It ruins all her past good flaws as a character and really brings her down. It almost doesn't feel intentional.

Yeah, Viltrimites don't have super hearing. It was actually something of a running joke in the comics where people kept being surprised when Mark tells them that.

So, the show does a poor point of showing it, but the flashbacks of the Immortal's Life wasn't just suppose to show you that he was around since, like cave men times, but that he was actually Abraham Lincoln.

7:56 exactly the reason why most people hate her so much. She said she figured it out weeks ago, aka BEFORE HE WAS HOSPITALISED, and she still complained about it afterwards because he missed the soup kitchen. And she acted mad at him for "running away", when she supposedly KNEW he was invincible, aka, the dude saving them. She was written as if she didn't know, and in THAT case, it's understandable, she was in the right. But they switched it out last second, which change the context of every time she was mad at him, from being reasonably upset, to being stuck up, and selfish even.

Robot's VA is Zachary Quinto, quite the charismatic, yet eerily creepy voices in acting industry. He was Sylar, the overarching villain in the show Heroes, and was Spock in the recent Star Trek films. He does both sides of the good and evil spectrum so well.

The thing with Amber is that she's the foil of Mark's mom. Some people can make being the spouse of a superhero, some can't. It's like being a military spouse. When you're a soldier, your spouse will not be your number one in your life and most people don't like that in a relationship

One thing to note. Viltrumites don't have superhuman senses. Well they see better at long distances and their senses don't deteriorate over time, but that's it. They don't necessarily hear any better than a regular human with sharp hearing.

I just kept saying "KEEP WATCHING!" lol cause yeah that's how everyone feels and then when she reveals she knew he was a hero and she STILL treated him like shit that's why everyone sours on her quick lol.

Finally the reveal! Rudy is one of my fav characters especially in the comic. The show does some things differently so I'm excited to see how they change his overall story in later seasons

(At 5:55) I think there are three reasons why a Amber's pissed off at Mark: 1) he *lied* to her about his secret life. 2) she *already* found out about is secret life a week ago, probably after his "ass beating" with a mace from Albino Simba. 3) he didn't *trust* her with his secret identity. If there was a fourth reason, she already *knew* he was a bad liar.

I love how you theorise about stuff. It shows that you pay attention and are invested. All too often I see reaction channels talking about things that were already disproven or don't make any logical sense at all if you pay the slightest bit of attention to whats happening

Also apparently Amber is way different in the comics? That's what I've heard at least. But yeah, that whole "I knew weeks ago and was letting you go on thinking I don't just to see how long you'd keep up the lie" (a very reasonable lie in my opinion, considering how they haven't really known each other that long) feels very toxic on her part. Weeks ago she could've just said "hey I figured out that you're a superhero, I understand why you would want to keep it from me, and now I understand why you're always absent". But no. She's all about helping people out, but Mark saves the world and it's an issue that he's late, even though she knows damn well why he's late.

Honestly, when it comes to Amber, I was in the same boat as you. Being mad about Mark's unreliability was totally understandable. But he reveals his identity and suddenly it's "I knew you were a superhero. I'm mad because you lied to me". She just changed her reasoning to suit herself and avoid looking like the idiot she is. I can only hope Amber will eventually get lost and Mark will get with Eve.

Revealing your secret identity should be a 2 year commitment, not 5 months.

Mark and Amber are basically broken up in a long car ride, Nolan knows that Debby knows, and then there's Eve, whose biggest problem is that she slept at an odd angle. I was at least as tense as you when Debby was telling him to get out the first watch. "I still don't know why people don't like here." 10,9,8... I think the hatedom for Amber has grown out of proportion, and Mark should have chosen to leave or commit sooner, BUT she could have also told him that she knew and couldn't continue to deal with this. Additionally, she's too flippant about this. Let's not forget that in spite of his powers, he got put in the hospital and it was a close call. I'm not saying anything until Robot explains his actions. Rex could at least have made an excessive amount of welcome back cake with fresh whipped cream and frosting with all that milk. There was no concern of machine to meat mental transfer, it's still meat to meat as they specialize in. Blobbly is 30 years old, Monster Girl is 25, until you count the rapid reverse aging of the curse. Given the mouse or rat ending up in a condiment wasn't the first time it happened, I'd say he should know better than to eat there. The blue boys have had some ego on them, so to admit to being the intellectual inferior here speaks to how much smarter "Robot" is.... or maybe was since he's now running on hardware specced for Rex. I was relieved that "Robot" made sure to get these two right back in the super slammer tot minimize risk. Donald is just trying to distract Omni Man so the rest of the team can get clear. Also instincts make someone more like to fire a weapon even if they logically know it won't work. Will's fine, but things have gotten real. Strap in. Given that Cecil has them hurrying up and waiting, they've got time to talk about Rudy, and for once I'm on Rex's side. Yeah, the timeline puts Amber's perspective into perspective. Still think she could have handled things better, but that she gets too much flak. The Hammer was ready to fire again pretty darn quickly for something that hits so hard. So, if they had hundreds of these satellites coordinating fire on Omni Man, it could do the job, but given the price tag Cecil cited, that seems unlikely. I do wonder if cloning a fresh body for Monster Girl would have been better, or if the curse would have come along for the ride.... though that would still buy her more time.... unless itt forcibly de-ages the new body to the point the old body was at. Cecil fights dark and dirty. He knows it, he knows it's not ethical, but he doesn't see a better way. Blue Boys aren't brining Immortal back to deal with Omniman, but Robot. Yup! Turns out Immortal's comic parallel isn't a superman like, it's a heroic Vandal Savage! Just younger and more powerful. Last time Immortal hesitated at first and underestimated Omni Man. Now he's enraged and has room to really move. Omni Man can try to help Mark, but with Immortal looking for any opening and hitting Omni Man with all he's got.... The current might be shorting out some new implants, or maybe this kaiju just has a physiology that's susceptible to electrical attacks. The eyes didn't regrow, they're just damaged.

remember how she treated him at the collage too. remember how she accused him of abandoning them when she "knew weeks ago" his idenity. he just got out of the hospital then got his shit kicked in trying to save your life by risking his own. then the first thing you do is accuse him of being a coward, abandoning you, and then spend the next two days trying to make him feel like shit. then when you finally manipulate him into risking his own life and the life of his family for your relationship by revealing the truth you turn around and go. I knew all along. honestly he has every right to be pissed at her and break things off.

I cant WAIT until next episode. Spoiler alert: I wonder how many times she’s gonna cry. Im betting the train scene counting as two

The worst part about Amber is that she knew Mark was invincible when the cyborg dude attacked last episode but she still got mad, like she already knew he had to do that but she just had to get mad because Mark didn't help her as himself despite being able to do more as Invincible

She considers his attention to her more important than the peoples lives he may or may not have saved. And the discretion of his secret identity. This is my head canon: Amber figures it out a few hours of their most current fight at the college tour. She'd be angry at him, but also she would understand. And she would need more time to process things. Especially their relationship.

The thing that upsets me the most is if she knew weeks ago she knew when they were attacked, meaning she knew he stayed and saved their lives and attacked him for running anyway

You can't ask someone to make major decisions about the course of their life for your sake ("Come attend this college with me for me") while also trying to keep important secrets about yourself away from them. The second you decide it's serious enough for them to change their lives for you is the second you need to tell them so that they can make an informed decision. Not as a last ditch effort to prevent a break up. 1. Be a superhero, don't date or date casually. 2. Be a superhero, tell the person you're dating your secret identity the minute you decide it's going to be serious. 3. Be a superhero, only date in your superhero identity. 4. Be a superhero, only date superheroes. 5. Don't be a superhero.

This is the main change of amber they did from the comics aside from her race but that doesnt really matter. In the comics she thought mark was cheating on her but became happy and excited finding out hes a superhero. Here...they made it shes known for a month, meaning she knew that he almost died not from a bus but from a supervillain, and knew that he saved her life and still yelled at him

Ah yes..."Where's Mark William." The whole show has had a "Omni Man could crunch somebody's head with no way for anyone to really do anything" vibe, but that scene took that vibe and cranked it up 10 times. Such a simple scene...but so tense.

Funally catches up to you for the final. Found the channel 2 days ago, loving you and your reactions. Also loved the 180 on Amber yeah they ruin a good character in 1 scene.

Amber knew about his secret long before he revealed it. She wasn't "always rational" because she knew and still gave him crap for not choosing her over being a hero. Making excuses for her doesn't change the fact that she's a crappy person that people think was in the right for keeping him dangling and never confronting him about a potentially dangerous situation.

Funny thing about Rudy/Robot. He spent so long pretending to be a robot, he clearly doesn't know how to interact with people as a human. He legit thought he could just show up in Rex's body and everything would be easy-peezy.

Imagine acting so angry for your boyfriend not being there to protect you...while "knowing he was there"

The thing that bothered me most about Amber was when she said she knew for weeks, that meant she knew during the college trip which kind of makes the break up argument some kind of twisted mind game. I liked her character until the beginning of episode 7 and retroactively episode 6, now she is just trifling.
