These movies were definitely NOT "just awful" as you put it! They were, and still are, wonderful, funny, and VERY entertaining! As Eric Von Zipper would say..."C'mon, you stupids! Leave us go!" And then he would say..."Why me?! Why me all the time!?!"
@@jimiestjames5788 I am glad you liked them old movies ...I was 11 years old when I saw it in the theater with my older sister..good memories. It seems like yesterday time went by so quickly. Just saw this movie today at TCM channel ;-)
Linda Evans is such a beautiful blue eyed blonde gal, and nice to watch her in this video She lip syncs it well. Women looked so elegant and feminine back then in dresses, instead of wearing unflattering men's pants and speak with vulgar extreme swearing like many do today. It's a joy to watch the old decent movies. Thanks for sharing!
I love seeing Evans sway as she does-not sure why, but there is something _perky_ in it, even though the swaying is perfectly smooth. Ward's voice is syrupy and charming.
It was indeed the wonderful Jackie 'Robin' Ward doing the vocal work, an amazingly prolific singer, her history is most impressive, how she started, the songs she sang on and indeed her own chart success.
These were the best of times the most fun times !!! The best time of my life, so happy.. These classic old movies are just fantastic!!! Linda Evans singing Frankie Avalon Annette Funicello Paul Lynde, our American treasure!!!! 😂😂❤❤❤....
I am not sure why but there was something so special, so fun, so heartwarming, yet very simple about life then. I have to say I certainly liked it so much more even without all the modern technology and conveniences.
RIP 2 surfers-turned-actors who were in the Frankie & Annette Beach Party movies. ED GARNER (passed on Mar 5) and JOHNNY FAIN (passed on Mar 9). Both Garner & Fain were plucked off Malibu beach by Director William Asher to do surfing stunts and provide atmosphere for Beach Party (1963) the very first of the Frankie & Annette flicks. As the beach movies became wildly popular, a core group of surfers and bikini-clad starlets emerged as audience favorites. American-International signed them to contracts and began promoting them as the 'beach party gang'. Ed Garner and Johnny Fain were part of the gang, along with Salli Sachse, Patti Chandler, Mary Hughes, Linda Opie and Michael Nader (who would one day star in Dynasty). The 'beach party gang' didn't just appear in the films; AIP would also send them out on promotional tours. Kitschy movie ads heralded: 'the beach party gang goes drag racing' or 'the beach party gang goes sky diving'. Garner and Fain were in Beach Party, Muscle Beach Party, Bikini Beach, Pajama Party, Beach Blanket Bingo, Ski Party, How to Stuff A Wild Bikini and The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini (Garner only). Thank you ED GARNER and JOHNNY FAIN for bringing the myth of a sun-drenched California surfing paradise to all us kids who grew up with these movies.
Jackie Ward was part of the backup group that sang The Partridge Family tunes,,, Linda is just gorgeous here,, what a great fun movie this is,,, Love me those Beach movies.
Jackie, Ron Hicklin, the Bahler Brothers and(last but not least!) Shirley Jones sang backup vocals to David Cassidy's leads on the Partridge recordings.
Actually, in my opinion, Linda was even more beautiful. Linda had a sweetness and kindness that somehow was picked by the cameras and turned her all-american girl next door good looks into ravishing beauty.
Here's a "fun fact" : About 20 years later Linda Evans and Michael Nader (He's the one reaching across the table holding hands with his girlfriend) were both in the show Dynasty. She played "Khrystal". He played "Dex".
BBB had probably the best girl group songs of any of the Beach Party series...IMO only Donna Loren's "It Only Hurts When I Cry" (and her '65 rerecording is relatively awful, btw) tops this one...best film of the series too...one of these days I'm gonna wear out those two chapters on my DVD (which unfortunately has the version that deletes Annette's great "We'll Never Change Them," another ace side...thanks for posting
@@heatherwallace-bernat4745 Yes indeed. I love the look she gave Frankie when he sat up and took notice of Sugar(lol). Dee Dee was a young lady to be reckoned with...but she was someone you could fall in love with quickly and deeply. And Annette made her that way.
dressshoeguy Barbara Stanwyck (Mrs Barkley)from Big Valley(She did stunts herself) taught Young Linda Evans(Audra) stunts,Why Linda and Joan's Stunt Woman(Not Joan)did all the catfight stunts on Dynasty.
I always loved this song,I wish Linda would tried singing later in life.Donna Loren could make it happen with her voice. She will not fail us.How about Donna will you record My New Love for us?You have the perfect voice to do it.
I Know That, I'm Am Sharing This As You Watch The Movie. Just Like Audrey Hepburn Didn't Sing In "My Fair Lady",A Woman Was Dubbed In There For Her. I Mentioned Linda Evans This Way, As A Memory Aid,As You Are Watching The Movie As The Song Is Sung. Not Real Life Behind The Scenes. Customx
Earl Mccain Sorry Earl McCain You're Wrong! While Donna Loren Is Now 70 Years Old, She Started Singing At 69, 100 Songs. She Can Hit Those High Notes, Go Subscribe To Donna Loren Now On RU-vid. She Personally Sang To Me Over My Computer April 3,2015 From Hawaii While I Was In Georgia, As I Won The Secret Shindig Contest And She Personally Identified Herself, And Sang To Me Until The Next Morning. She Can Hit Those Hi Notes If She Wants To. I Have The Proof.Customx
Evert time I watch this --Linda Evans is so beautiful and Annette is so cute --I think of the horrific disease that took Annette and Linda is still at like maybe 70 (?) totally gorgeous !!
This is not Linda Evans. Doesn't even look like her. Everyone, as they get older, changes. Let us just be grateful for the time we've had here and keep on singing and being appreciative of what was given us ...
I find facts are helpful. The song is being faked in the movie.Jackie 'Robin' Ward is the singer. The music is being played by Hal Blaine and the Wrecking Crew.Linda Evans is lip syncing .The Hondells are just pretending to play behind her.
and although Linda is not singing (for real--over dubbed) she has great moves with the boys !! and God bless you Annette --she was dying when I was a teen -but now have watched all the movies --just so very tragic !
@@malfoy666 They were both beautiful. It Only Hurts When I Cry Is one of my favorite Donna Loren. songs(Love's a Secret Weapon is another). And remember when Steve was dancing with Dee Dee but looking back to keep an eye on Bonnie with Frankie? Oh my...a guy would have to be crazy to ignore Dee Dee when she was dancing with him.💓🌞
Annette was ok , but there were always 4-5 better lookers on those movie sets. But Frankie was the man. Those movies lost a lot of fun when Frankie was not leading the gang.
new love, he's my new love, he understands when I hold his hand and say "I feel so blue today" true love, that's my new love, he's there by me to tenderly just say "I love you more each day" new love, he's my new love, he'll always be so close to me I know, I love my new love so true love, that's my new love, I know that he will always be my new, new love my whole life through I know that he will always be my new, new love my whole life through So glad that he will always be my love
I cried when she passed away. I grew up watching Annette when "The Mickey Mouse Club" first began airing on TV in 1955; I started First grade that year!
Jessica Jujubean I haven’t. That’s what makes YT so great. It has all kinds of obscure information we’d never find anywhere else, even on Netscape. I had no idea. I never heard anything bad about Linda Binkowitz at all. She was a very good singer. I wonder what else she is in. I’ll remember that name Binkowitz. I wonder if she also wrote that song He’s My New Love. Thanks for the information about Linda Binkowitz. Sounds Russian. Probably born and raised in Russia. Maybe the Soviet Union back then. Or was it Russia and now the Soviet Union? I wonder why they changed their name? It was before Putin was the boss I guess. Maybe he was only a secret agent back then. They didn’t call them secret agents though. It was KGB or something like that maybe BBB. No, that’s the Better Business Bureau. They take care of business like Elvis and his band TCB Taking Care of Business. My favorite is Return to Sender. Of course back then ...
So true.my generation has lost all respect for themself, yet i feel some moderen music still carries good vibes and lryics so that goes for show not all hope is lost.
Robin Ward (Jackie Ward) is the voice. She was a one hit wonder, as they say. Donna Loren recorded the song and I think Annette did it in a different movie. Music and movies, how very like "That Thing You Do!"
Just remembered that I had a dream this morning about Annette Funicello-how, when I was growing up, and seeing her on the _Mickey Mouse Club,_ I was in love with her, and I told Frankie Avalon that she was _my_ girl, not his.
Linda Evans didn't actually do the singing on "He's My New Love"; the vocals were no doubt performed by a 'Wrecking Crew' session musician, probably Jackie Ward.
I always thought it was Linda Evans actually singing also until one day I saw the credits and realized it was Robin Ward. Funny it doesn't sound anything like wonderful summer
Fact check. Linda Evan's aka Miss Sugar Cain is not the one singing on this track. Nor is it Donna Loren although she did sing it on her album release of the movie. The Real singer behind this track is Robin Ward who at the time did a lot of uncredited session work in the industry. She did have a few minor singles and a import cd compilation but New Love remains either lost or unreleased to this day.
